Hi Elllllllllen! Hope you are doing well.
I'm writing you a letter not because of me is because I have a friend that she's a survivor from Katrina in New Orleans and she moved to Arlington, Texas looking for a better life after loosing everything she had. She started working in the same company that I work for a while and she decided to look for a more challenging job and she did that and it was fine but after all the changes in the Economy she lost her job and she's been struggling trying to find something... now she found a job in Austin, TX and she is in desperate need of help relocating...as you know it's not easy to relocate when you don't have the money...I'm sure there's a way you can help her...Her Name is Janice...she doesn't know that I'm writing you about her situation but I wanted to help her somehow...It's very sad to hear that sometime she doesn't even have the money to pay for her car or her apartment...It's just hard and I wish I can help her more but we all are struggling! Hope and love is the last thing to loose...and there's lot of that...
she's a good person and she loves our dogs and sometime she takes care of them while I'm traveling for work... PLEASE Help Janice! By the way I'm a very good fan or your show! Happy 1000 Shows! Love it!
Thank you!!!

Dear Ellen,
I love what you do for people! You make us laugh, dance, and feel good about ourselves if even for only an hour a day. I have been going through a very hard time the past 11 months because of an injury that happened at work. I just finished getting my degree in November 2007 and worked as a waitress to help pay my bills while I was in college. It took me many many years to finally stick with school long enough to graduate at 32 years old. I had been sending out several resumes and going on interviews for 7 months. In June of 2008 I hurt my ankle at work. I ended up in the hospital for a few days and out of work for 3 weeks with a blood clot that developed from not being able to move my ankle. I then tried to return to work with restrictions for the next couple of months even though my ankle was the size of my whole leg. Not to mention the pain was so bad all I could do was cry at the end of a shift in which I could only stand to be on it to wait on maybe 4 tables a night total. Needless to say my money had been drasticly cut because of the injury, but I still tried because I need to pay bills and I live alone. After doing as much as I could on my ankle at work it was only getting worse. In October I went to a specialist surgeon who took me completely off work. Turns out I not only got a blood clot but I also tore the right talofibular ligament, completely ruptured the right posterior tibial tendon, and developed aggrevated traumatic arthropathy of the subtalar joint and ankle joint. The company I work for is taking me to hearings and fighting everything the doctors say needs done. My tendon can no longer be reconnected because too much time has past so I now have to have a tendon reconstruction done. The arthropathy has developed so much that I now have to have a joint fusion. I will only allow one joint because with both joints fused I will no longer be able to move my ankle every again. With only the one done I will still be able to move it up and down but not side to side. The company I work for is also saying that I should not be getting any money while I am out of work because they feel "that rewards me for being out of work". They have reduced my payments from workers compensation down to around $600 less a month than what I would be making if I were working. We all know that being a waitress does pay lots to begin with compared to alot of other jobs. My job searching has been put on hold to use my degree this whole time because I need surgery. Plus the fact that with everything wrong with my ankle I can usually only be on it at maybe an hour at a time max before the pain is too bad. I haven't been able to pay as much on my bills as I used to pay so I am starting to fall behind. My student loans have been after me for a few months now but I have no way to make the payments on them. I owe somewhere near $50,000 in school loans alone and about $5,500 in credit cards. Trying to pay those on top of rent, electric, phone, cable, food, and gas to get to the doctors appointments and hearings is really hard. I have had to go to about 10 doctors and about 8 hearings. More than half the doctors and all the hearings are out of town. The company thinks all of this happened during the injury at work because I was born with a club foot, but I had corrective surgery at the age of 2 months old. So the doctors and I don't see how that culd be the cause of the injury 32 years later with no problems in the past. Especially when I clearly hurt my anlke in front of everyone at work. I usually never ask others for help. I am usually the one help others and give friends any extra money I have when they need it. Sometimes it's not even extra money of mine, I go without things in order to help them, but they don't know that I do it that way. I guess what I am asking you is for a little help during this hard time for me. I haven't been able to really walk or anything for 11 months now and surgery still is not approved so who knows how much longer this will go on. I just thank god everyday for what I do have and the wonderful family and friends of mine. I am also thankfull I don't have any children yet because I would not be able to take very good care of them. When this is all over I plan to start really taking controll of my life and starting my professional career and family. I understand if you can't help me out this time because I know others are in tougher harder postions than myself and need more help than I. At the least, I would like to get the message out to people to go for things in life because you never know when things could happen and put your whole life on hold for unknown amounts of time.
I really hope all this makes sense because there are a lot of things to say (sorry) and I get a little upset about the whole thing sometimes. It would be great to hear from you, but like I said I understand if I don't. Keep doing what you do and making our days brighter. Thank you for listening because that helps too. We should all live...laugh...be greatfull!
Thanks~ Crissy

Hey Ellen! I am actually writing for my daughter Lindsey. She has decided she wants to go back to school and become a teacher. I am a retired teacher, and it is such a rewarding career. I would love to see her follow in my footsteps! She graduated with a degree in communications, and my husband and I were able to help her through college. Due to the economy, we are unable to help her now. She has to take prerequesite classes and can't qualify for student loans until she begins work on her masters degree in education. She has been working two jobs and has a lot of bills. The gold digger machine would pay for most of her classes and books! PLEASE HELP HER!!

Sincerely,
Debbie Rich

Hello Ellen, My name is Laurene. Last year my dad lost his job due to the economy and my mom has been picking up jobs here and there. I have two little brothers and though my parents don't really talk about it, I know that times are tough for the family now. They are even thinking about selling our house to move to a smaller place. I'd be happy if you can bring your gold digger machine to my house.

Hi Ellen! My name is Dean and I'm writing this with my partner Shannon. We along with our 3 children run a large and small animal rescue. We rely on community donations and with the economy over the last two years, living in a small town, losing our largest corporate sponsors and taking in a huge influx of animals we've come very close to shutting down our non profit a number of times. But I'm glad to say we're still here and working harder then ever! We love your show! Our favorite moment from you 1000 episodes is your wedding day video! Words can't describe how you made us feel! The Joshua Radin song...AMAZING! You two looked radiant! You inspired us to tie the knot, but we did not make it in time before the reversal. A stimulus boost would definitely lift our spirits! If you pass us by, at least we have our daily Ellen fix of laugher, dance, games and your love of animals to help us continue to keep our dream alive!

Dear Ellen,
Recently High School hasn't been so great, or at least as great as i thought it was going to be. My name is Caitlin Frech and i am a freshman at a school called Waubonsie, in Aurora Illinois. I absolutely love your show, so much to the fact that i have to watch them in order and if i dont i scream, i also record every show...just a little addicted! But its ok cause i absolutely love you, when I am having a bad day i look to you to cheer me up. But recently things in my house haven't been going so well. Last December my dad got fired from his job with TCF bank. Now i didn't realize how hard it would hit me until i saw that our family would be living off of my mom's preschool social working salery. We have just enough, but could not last. All im asking for is a little bit of help to help out my family in this hard economic time. Thanks a bunch.
Peace out!
Caitlin

Congratulations Ellen! =) You're reaching your 1000th episode today, and I'm definitely going to watch it. Since there's only about six or seven channels in this house, you're just about the only thing there is to watch on television, but you're the best thing to watch compared to paid advertisements, so feel special.

Anyway, I would like to nominate my mom (who probably never watches your show, haha) to have fun with the Gold Digger machine. She's been a single mother for years now, working on getting a divorce with her 'ex'-husband (a child molester, someone she doesn't want to be tied down to) and raising four kids. Of course, me and my brother are old enough to be out of the house, but now she's raising my sister with autism and an almost three year old sister.

We've been through a lot of struggles, living with low income since the day I was born and going through many obstacles. On Valentine's Day a few years ago, we went through a house fire and lost the place. Thankfully, we were given a trailer for free in this trailer park, but the place is starting to crumble. The ground is uneven, and it's going to cost a bit to level the place. If not, she doesn't have any place to go, since she is unable to work and going through the process of disability.

It would be great if you could surprise her with the Gold Digger machine (since she'd never expect it) to help her level the ground to make it safe for her, my autistic sister, and my very little sister to live. =) I would appreciate it so much. The worst I could say is that if you didn't do it, I wouldn't watch your show; but that's never gonna happen since I'm pregnant, have nowhere to go, and remain having only the six/seven channels to watch, lol. Thank you for taking the time to read this!

I hope to hear from you!
~ Thanks.

Hi Ellen my name is Katrina Evens and im 14 years old. I'm obviously not writing in for myself but for my mother who just loves your show ( I mean loves your show she has all her favorite episodes of your show recorded). The reason why im writing in is because at end of last year times got hard my father was out of work and my grandmother was very ill with cancer. We were all pitching in to help my twin sister and I being the oldest helped with the 3 younger kids, the cooking, and the cleaning while my parents stayed in their room to keep an eye on my grandmother. Well at the beginning of the year my father was slowly getting work back (maybe once a week, twice if he was lucky) and right when things started to pick up just a little my grandmother passed away. It was very hard on my mother and father. She was trying everything to cheer him up and get things back to the way they were. Money is still tight and the economy is at a rough stage which is why im not asking you to take this as a sob story but as a chance to get get my family back on it's feet.

------sincerely-------
Katrina Evens

hi ellen, i think it so great that you are helping people, especially now that so many need help. I just wanted to share my story real quick. I had to quit my job as a cross country truck driver for health reasons and haven't had any luck finding a local driving job, and i'm supposed to be getting married next year but because work has been so slow for the both of us we haven't been able to save any money for our wedding. I hope you will consider coming to where i live so i can be so fortunate as to play gold digger, it would help so much. Thank you for your time and consideration.

thank you and god bless

p.s. your show is the best it always puts a smile on my face.

Hi Ellen! I would like to tell you about my daughter, Karrie. She is a very strong woman with 4 children ages 4 to 16. She has MS but keeps a good attitide. She is no longer able to work and her husband does not make enough to pay the bills. They had to move again and found a cute little house to rent. My daughter has been trying to get disability but it is taking time going thru all the government paperwork and appeals. They could really use a little extra cash to pay rent and some bills. It would be so fantastic if she could be in the Gold Digger!! You have helped so many people and have a great show! Congrats on your 1000th show tomorrow!!! May you have many many more!!!

Dear Ellen.
My mom is the most amazing woman in the world. She has been a single mom all my life, as well as my brother's life. We live in a low income apartment in Logan, Utah. Last year, my mom went through a terrible divorce with my step-dad. That hurt us money wise, but we remained family. My mom is very stressed much of the time. Trying to figure out our money situation.
I believe that if she had a little break, things can become normal again. I know that you never get over something, you just learn to live with it. And that is what are doing. We are learning to cope with the divorce. My brother will be going off to college next year. I know he is worried about it too. So please Ellen, Gold Digger is just what we need. A little break. I hope that you choose us. Thank you for being such a wonderful role model.
