Y'all know how much I love animals! Over the weekend, Portia and I were recognized by the Humane Society at the 23rd Genesis Awards! We were joint recipients of the 2009 Wyler Award for our work helping to pass Prop. 2 and making sure all animals are treated right.
I just want to say how much I appreciate it! There are a lot of awards out there, but none more special to me than the Genesis.

Plenty of fans were shocked and saddened to see 21-year-old Memphis native Alexis Grace get voted off of "American Idol" last week. The petite blonde was herself surprised that her rendition of "Jolene" wasn't quite enough to carry her through to the next round. On a positive note, Alexis' elimination did give her the chance to chat with Ellen and perform live for her studio audience!
