Dear Ellen,
Fist I just wanted to say that I love your show. You are such a great person, and make the world such a better place by making everyone laugh.
But I am writting you for a more serious matter. I am writting you cause I want to do something for my Mom and her parter Patty. My Mom and Patty found each other about 3 and a half years ago, and realised that they were meant for each other. I was so happy for them and supported them completely, when everyone around them was writting them off because of the stupid "same sex" rasicim that is out there. All there friends said it wouldn't last, but my sister and I could see that it was for real. They were looking forward to spending along life together traveling the road (patty was a truck driver) and having a great time.
Unfortunatly Patty recently found out that she has stage 4 cancer and it has matasasized and that treament would only make her feel worse. Just when they thought they had a bright future together they get the worse news. They have informed her that she may only have one year to live if she is lucky. They are making the best of what they can, trying to stay positive.
When I talk to my Mom on the phone she is always asking " Did you see Ellen today? It was so funny Patty and I couldn't stop laughing. We would love to see her one day"
I guess that is where I come in. I would love to somehowe give them that chance to see you. The problem is they live in Ontario Canada, and I am all the way in Alberta Canada. They don't have a vehicle and Patty is afraid to fly. My finance don't allow me to go home often, even though I would love to drive them to L.A. I was wondering if you would have the time to help me out.
I understand you probly receive countless messages like this one, but I hope somehow you get this soon, and we could work something out.
Thanks again,
Your friend Melissa.
