Dear Ellen,
Hello, my name is Alyssa and I am from Arkansas. I have a son that just turned five in December and whom is wonderful (thats the picture i sent). Anyway, Im wrighting you to tell you abuout my fiance. We have been together for 6 almost seven years, and for the first 3 years of our relationship Terry(my fiance) was addicted to drugs and alcohol. He has now completey turned his life around he attends AA meeting religiously and we have now opened up our home to people trying to turn their lives around. Terry has sponsered lots of people whom want to change and that have changed even after years of addiction. I go to college full time in order to try to have an education and I am a stay at home mother (until my son is olding enough for school) because we can not afford a babysitter. This hardship on America has hit us hard we were forced to move into a more expensive home because the last home we lived in was not a place to raise a son. I look up to Terry(my fiance) so much much for trying to help people change their lives around, but he never gets a break to enjoy ourselves. We have set numerious dates to get married, but can not afford a wedding, due to the lack of helping everyone else but ourselves. We looked into buying a home recently and was so excited the landlord we rent from liked us so much she dropped the cost of our home from 80,000 to 45,000 and we still cant get a down payment for that. Anyway, Ellen I watch you on television everyday and I mean everyday. It gives me a chance to relax from all the stress going on my home. Im not asking for a vacation, I'm just asking for some help if only a prayer. I love ya Ellen and even if you don't get this letter, I'm still proud of all you accomplished, and i hope that you can continue helping others!!!!

Just wanted to make a comment on the last post. I initially had the same thought as you, but then I got to thinking, her comment may have been intentionally sarcastic to berate the voters of California. It may have been her way of snidely saying that she was no longer able to call her wife, "Her Wife".
Also Ellen I am so happy that you won this award. You make me laugh even when I'm sad. You are truly For Real!!!!!

i watched the peoples choice awards last nite and was very excited and happy for you when you won the award for best tv host. but that excitment dwindled when you refered to portia as your roommate.. i hope you wernt made to do that and if you were i am dissapointed that you went along with it.. I look up to you and your open relationship and your fight to be a happy married gay couple..
please let your fans know what is going on..

I was flabbergasted that you said "roommate"!! I am sorry if you were made to say that because you fought so hard to get everyone to accept you and Portia then you say roommate. It turned my stomach. I love you so much for being you and you WEREN'T.

She said "my roommate" because of prop 8 probably.

i have been trying everything to cool myself
down for the past 2 yrs................. already made great progress by now........
doesnt seem so today, but i really have............ me so much calmer already......

Ellen, I just watched your clip of you & Portia jet skiing with the dolphins. I know this was not your intention but I just could not stop crying....and smiling....and crying....and smiling. I literally had tears in my eyes and a smile on my face as my little dog stared at me waiting for me to throw him another RITZ cracker. lol WOW! What an amazing feeling that must have been, to share such an incredible moment with someone you love so much. You are so fortunate to have been able to experience that. It's a dream of mine. I may not be on the water in Bora Bora. It may be right here in good ole Pensacola, Florida at Pensacola Beach, but 'One of these days' I hope to be able to enjoy something like this with my son and husband. Thanks so much for sharing and making me cry. lol
