I have been so bewidlered in the past but now it all makes sense!

My name is Jennie and i have a heartbreaking story from Corpus Christi Texas.
My husbands friend from work lost his autistic grandson 9 years of age yesterday morning in a fire.
There was no way for him to get out but not only that the whole house was destroyed along with all the clothing and christmas toys the other children received.
We have started a little collection that goes to the bank for them and also collecting clothing since they have nothing left.
I dont know who else with a big heart that i can contact i follow your shows all the time and after a wonderful christmas this happens to them and they want to rebuild the house but money is not there yet to do so.
There is only so much a few of us can do but if more people here about this maybe we can get what they need.
The boy that passed away his name was Nicholas Benavides and he was a great boy.
I beleive his family deserves somewhere to sleep good at night to help heal from this.
Not the best way to start a new year but somewhere to live will help.

With love

Jennie Almaguer

ELLEN I DO ENOY THE RERUNS AND KNOW THAT YOU ALL DESERVE A VACATION OVER THE HOLIDAYS. I WILL HOWEVER BE GLAD WHEN YOU GET BACK. I MISS YOUR SURPRISES AND THE CONTINUATION OF THE GEORGE CLOONEY SAGA.

How upsetting to hear about prop 8 I am from England and I thought it was the English that was so prim and proper it just comes to show that the majority spoil it for the minority. America the land of the free and brave but won't allow gay marriage how sad, wake up American and make the necessary changes so all can be happy.

Never give up, Ellen! And I know you won't.
You give so much, and you have so very much more to give.

Thank you for doing your work the way you do it.

Dear Ellen,
I've been a big fan of yours since your show first came out. This is my first time on your web site and it is awsome. I love the pictures of your wedding. I recently lost my home due to financial problems and me and my family have become homeless. I have no more options except for shelters or give up my kids. It really sucks! The last few weeks I have managed to watch your show and for an hour a day it makes me smile. The things you do for people and your views on life makes me think that one day things will get better. I know you get thousands of e-mails a day but, I hope you read this and know that you do make differences in people's lives whether you know them or not. Thanks for all that you do for me!

Fight for equal rights, never give up!

I am so very sorry that so many small-minded people voted to pass Prop 8. How sad that with so many other things to worry about all they can concentrate on is what goes on in other peoples bedrooms, because as far as I'm concerned, we are all created equal and the only time "straight or gay" comes into play is when people are having sex!

Ellen...my heart goes out to you and Portia. When I heard the results yesterday, I cried for you. You would think in this day and age, something like this can still be a problem. I was married twice to men and it ended up in divorce. I was very unhappy and have been single since 1992. I know a lot of people that are unhappy in their man/woman traditional marriages. I raised my children telling them this, "I will love you know matter what you do or who you are with. You can have someone who is of a different color, religion, cultural background. You can be single, heteural, gay or lesbian. As long as you are happy with each other, that's all that matters." In my first marriage, my husband was a minister. He and the congregation use to preach the word but didn't live by it. I seen alot of things that were just plain wrong on how they treated people. They always judged others, even me. This had always bothered me and left a bad taste for me. I believe you shouldn't have to answer to no one except the Higher Power (if you have that in your life)and you can do that when it's your time to meet. Just because someone doesn't fit your way of life, doesn't mean they can't live the way they choose. You should embrace others as you want to be embraced. When are people going to just mind their own business? You are who you are sweetie, a kind, caring, giving, funny woman. You come into our lives just about every day and make us laugh. That's all anyone should see. I don't care what kind of lifestyle you have, you're still the same person we knew and loved before you "came out".

Dear Ellen,
You are so strong and I love You so much!!!
You are my Role Model.

Ellen, I am so sorry for all gays right now. If you want to get married should be able to "go for it" I'ts not always cracked up to what people think, It ain;t always easy either. I have been with my husband almost 20 yrs, have wonderful, annoying sons, and know more divorced people then those like us. It should be less easy to get divorced than to get married. stay strong things will change. They always do!

love ya

Ellen and Portia, I have a gay son. He has served our country for 19 years with the military. Has had 3 tours in Iraq. I am so totally confused here. He can put his life on the line for our freedom, but he does not have the freedom to marry whom he chooses. The California Supreme Court ruled in favor of gay marriages, WHY was this issue put on the ballot for approval? Why do we need State Supreme Courts if they can be over ruled by common folk? My son and his partner ( a civilian) have been together for many years. His parents love my son just as much as I love thier son. We do have a happy, well adjusted family. My son is a phycian with the military and his partner is a professional in the civilian world. I do love both my son and "son-in-law". They are not 'married" right now because of the Military, but I do consider him as part of my family.

Ellen and Portia god bless you both. We love you and we love you .........never give up. One day people are going to wake up and smell the flowers ans realize that every single person in this United States deserves to be who they want to be and be with whomever they want to be. LOVE YOU!!! :~) ♣

I feel bad that it didn't pass, but you ellen have this way I'm sure you can make it pass some day. You have alot of power and I think it will happen that someday gay marrige will happen. I'm a mother of a gay son and He has enough to have to deal with and this should be who ever loves each other should be able to get married. Keep up your good work your fan Sheryl

Equality- Let us Brits watch your show!!!
It's off the air over here and I am sad.

On a serious note- how sad for all that Prop 8 got through. How stupid and silly and ignorant to deny people's happiness. A change will come, and it will come in January!

In the uk we all watched with great interest the presidential election and admired the U.S for realising that all people are equal and that you now, having years of racial discimination want to put that part of your history behind you.Except that you really havent have you? To deny loving ,caring people the right to get married and the legal rights that it brings for gay couples, says how hypocritical! to me.Is it now ok to be black but not to be gay? Perhaps in the future its going to have to take the first gay man/woman in the white house to make that change?Ellen and portia, stay strong and in the end you have always each other and in the future perhaps America will change its narrow mindedness again. I am not gay I believe in love and respect to all people. Much love to you both.

Ellen, I am so sorry that so many people in California voted yes on proposition 8. I along with my family and a majority of my friends voted no. I feel for you right now and I hope you can remain strong and that this overturns and you can remain married. Stay Strong Ellen..we love and support you!
