Help Save Abused and Neglected Animals

One of the causes dearest to my heart is the welfare of abandoned and mistreated animals. DogTown is not only a television show, it's part of a real animal sanctuary located in Utah.

There are over 2,000 dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, birds and other animals that receive special care at the sanctuary on a daily basis. Many of the workers volunteer their services and spend their free time traveling to bring the most needy animals back to their new home.

DogTown is part of the Best Friends Animal Society, and you can make a donation by clicking right here. These animals deserve to have a happy holiday season just as much as the rest of us!

Hi Ellen,
I don't understand - if you love animals so much why did you agree to be the new face of Covergirl?
Is it because you didn't know they do animal testing?

thankyou ellen for helping animals i love animals too i have 2 chihuahuas.

Hi Ellen,
A friend has sent me this today, which I needed a tissue box for. I hope you read this to your audience or put it up on your website. It's called the Pet's Ten Commandments.
A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS.........

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainments, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

I hope you liked it, as I hope everyone that has a pet could read this..

Sincerly,
Sandra Hrisko/Sawyer

Dear Ellen,
I love your show-I'm a big fan. I know what a huge animal lover you are and was very surprized to learn that you went ahead with your Covergirl deal. Covergirl is part of the Procter & Gamble family and it is known that they do in fact test on animals for their products. If you go to PETA's web site, P&G is listed under the companies that do test on animals. For this reason, I will not use any of P&G's products. There are other means of testing these chemicals and other smaller companies listed as not testing on animals on the PETA site are the companies I will buy from in the future. I hope that you can talk some sense into them being that you are a spokesmodel for them now. Maybe you can get them to make the changes that are needed. Check out PETA's site-please.
Sincerely,
Sheri Philcox

Hi Ellen!!!!! My name is Jessica and im from Ohio. I have a problem dog on my hands!!!!! Iam the proud owner of 3 dogs. My first is Nakita shes a mix breed of many.then my american staffordshire terrior. Then last but not least my lil man a toyfox terrior. My pitt bull is very aggressive towards my oldest female nakita. They got into a real bad fight and it just seems to get worse. Iam desperate. I love my pitt bull so much. I have a 7 year old son that she is wonderful to and people in general. I dont know what to do. Everywhere i call says that they dont take vicious dogs or they wont adopt them out. Which only means one thing. I cant take my year and a half dog to a place and have her put down!!!!!!! I love her very very much she is the best dog that i have ever owned by far. But no matter what i do she does not like my other dog just the female. I have watched dogtown for some time now, and iam a huge fan of their work. I think what they did with the Micheal vick dogs was amazing!!!!! But each time i watch the show i can never see a place to write them or contact them!!! Ellen iam in desperate need of help badly!!! I fear that if i can even find a place to take my pitt they will kill her and thats the last thing i want to happen. But i also fear that if she stays here theres a huge possibility that she will kill my other female dog. i have raised this dog all my dogs with love and respect i dont know what iam doing wrong. Please help me Ellen!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter!!!! sincerely
Jessica

Dear Ellen, I am writing you today to see if you know of any animal organizations that would assist me in attempt to help find a cure for my cat who just turned 7 years old. Since July of last year, she became anemic and had to have 2 blood transfusions to become stable again but only to have reoccuring episodes of her red blood cell level drop to 6 or 8 (40 is normal for a healthy cat) I have spent over $5000 and still the vets do not have any answer to why her immune system can not remain normal. She has been tested and retested. She is currently on costly antibiotics and medications. I would do anything to help her but I am exhausted financially and would hate to her to die simply because I can't afford for the drs to continue to find a diagnosis and a possible cure for her. I am desperate and wanted to reach out to you because I know you have such love for all animals. I rescued her 7 years ago and she is the love of my life. PLEASE HELP ME HELP HER ASAP!!!! HER TIME IS RUNNING OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to get in touch with John Gracia. Do you have a website for this organization or TV show?

I am writing from Santiago CHILE, and the conditions down here are shameful, horrible for dogs. While people enjoy their luxury living (only a part of the country), dogs and cats are being abused, neglected and abandoned every day on the streets

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thank you
Gisel

Ellen,
Many thanks to you for featuring John Garcia and Georgia and the amazing work of Best Friends Animal Society on your show. It's fantastic that you've made your thousands and thousands of fans aware of Best Friends and all they do for animals. They are an incredible organization that I am proud to support--and I have two Best Friends' dogs!
Thanks to you and Portia for your holiday contribution to Best Friends and for encouraging others to do the same. Next, you need to plan a visit to Angel Canyon. You will never want to leave!
Warm regards--

Hi

I like it the dog town program!I consider it a very good man Jhon garciat! postscript:I am not on top in English there will be mistakes naturally!!!

Hi Ellen,

I am not familiar with your show, but I came to your website specifically to see the piece about Best Friends. I am a long time supporter of Best Friends and visited there a few years ago. They do wonderful work there and are a model for the smaller rescue groups all over the country.

Thank you for highlighting Best Friends on your show.

Thanks, Ellen, for putting John and Best Friends in the spotlight!

I live in Georgia and have volunteered for Best Friends for the past year doing work from my home. For those of you who can't get to the Sanctuary, there are many ways to volunteer in your own state (even from home). Check out the Best Friends Network at www.network.bestfriends.org for more information.

Ellen
It was so wonderful to see some positive that has happened to the Micheal Viks dogs. I was always so fearful for their fate. We have alway helped strays and this has probably been a finacially minus for my husband and I as most people see it, but to us, we have always spoken on how this is what we are meant to do. We together have no children and the dogs, cats, rabbit and the ferret that just happen to show up in the field behind our house ( in the country setting) is our family. We have not and cannot turn anyone ( four legged ) away. We can barely afford the loved ones we care for, but we are definitely sending a donation to Dogtown, it may not be alot, but we will send a small check. We wished we live closer to help out their cause.
Keep up the good work for the lonely, lost, left behind animals. God Bless the Creatures Great and Small.
Linda

Ellen,
I'm soooo excited that you had John Garcia on your show! I was blessed enough to go to Best Friends for a conference a few months ago, and it's better than I even imagined! If you and Portia haven't gone to visit, you should. It's an amazing place and I can't wait to go back!
Sarah

THANK YOU ELLEN AND BEST FRIENDS ! ! ! !

After i saw the Ellen show with Georgia and John, i immedietly went to the best friends web site to donate...I have a great love for all animals, but especially for the dogs that were rescued from that piece of sh*t Micheal Vick...like he doesn't have enough money. I must say I'm happy that he's rotting in jail for now. I have such a soft spot in my heart for animals because they have no voice, and no choice in how they live their lives. I have been blessed to have a loving boxer named Charlie, he's the bestest friend i could ever have. He loves me unconditionally, and has a heart of gold. I wish the same for every animal.
I'm going to end by saying "thanks ellen" and please keep bringing attention to this cause !

I'm happy to another another worthy animal cause to contribute my money. Ellen, you rock! Thanks for the info.
Love your show and hope that a bunch of us from the office will be there to see you in Jan '09.

Thank you Ellen for having Georgia and John on your show today. Dogtown is a great show and Best Friends is a great place. I even had to have my brother tape Dogtown for me as I do not have cable at my house. If your viewers haven't seen it yet I highly recommend it to all animal lovers. BF is a great place to visit too and if you haven't been there you must make time to see it. My goal when I get my place sold here in Michigan, (which looks like it will be awhile in this market), is to move to UT and work for Best Friends. How could I pass up the job of a lifetime, working with all the wonderful animals
and getting paid!!

Thank you again Ellen for taking your time and showing how Best Friends is helping animals in need.

Janet

I have been a supporter of Best Friends for many years and love the work they do. It was no surprise that BF got some of the "Vicktory" dogs to rehabilitate. I saw the Dogtown special and they have made great progress. I also have a pittie and they are wonderful dogs. I am a firm believer that a dog's personality is a product of his/hers environment.
I did not get to see your show because I was at work. Do you plan on replaying it or posting it on your website ? Would love to see the whole show.

Thank you!

Thank You Ellen!
We just adopted a 12 year old girl from Best Friends over Thanksgiving!! Its truly a magical, beautiful place. I plan on returning again, and volunteering. Our girl was there for 10 years, and they took such wonderful care of her. She was unadoptable due to aggression issues, but has totally mellowed in her golden years. We are blessed to have her. We had the wonderful opportunity to meet John Garcia while there, and he is such an engaging, happy person! Best Friends is lucky to have him, and everyone else we met for that matter!
Gayle
