Ellen,
As a proud member of Bikers for Best Friends, I just wanted to thank you for highlighting Best Friends, John Garcia, and all the amazing work that gets done in Kanab.
It's great to see Best Friends and Pitbulls get the recognition and support they truly, truly deserve.
THANK YOU!!
Ellen,
HI, I LOVE UR SHOW AND I WATCH U ALL THE TIME. I JUST HAD ONE CONCERN ABOUT SOMETHING, I LOVE PIBULLS AND THOSE ARE THE ONLY DOGS WE HAVE EVER HAD, AND THEY ARE THE MOST LOVABLE MOST SWEET DOGS EVER. WELL YOU MENTIONED THAT THE ONLY REASON THAT A PITBULL WILL BE PURCHASED FOR 7000.00 IS TO FIGHT, IS ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE. I KNOW YOU WERE JUST TOLD THAT BUT THE REASON WHY IS BECAUSE THEY ARE PUREBREED AND THEY ARE ALSO REGISTERED DOGS AND BLOODLINE,YOU CAN GET ON THE INTERNET AND LOOK UP THE DIFFERENT KENNELS AND ALL OF THEM LOVE THEIR DOGS AND STATE THAT THEY DO NOT SELL TO ANYONE OR FOR ANY ILLEGAL PURPOSES.
I LOVE PITBULLS AND THANK YOU FOR LETTING PEOPLE SEE THEY ARE NOT BAD DOGS IT'S THE OWNERS AND WHAT THEY ARE TAUGHT.
Dear Ellen, DONATE indeed. Best Friends is probably one of the best places someone can donate to and know that their money is going to a great cause. I recently lost my job but I also know that every penney counts and if everyone could just send whatever it is they can afford, it will add up. Looking at the remarkable work that John Garcia has done with Georgia has warmed my heart in this crazy and often cruel world. I can't not help and want to see this work continue. Best to you Ellen for educating people about animal welfare issues. You have the platform to increase awareness and right now it is possible to see No More Homeless Pets in our Lifetime. Thank you so much for this piece.
Jean in Massachusetts (ice is finally melting here).
After seeing John Garcia and DOGTOWN all I could do was DONATE!!! I hope everyone that was watching had the same compassion.
Keep up the good work!
Ellen, I have been a supporter of Best Friends for years. I live on disability but always manage to give something to the true angels of this world. I can't tell you how happy I am to see you getting involved with this incredible org. May in the future you can give prizes or trips to their wonderful canyon. I always buy raffle tickets ev. July in hopes of winning a trip there. It is on my life's list. Work your magic as only you can do Ellen so all of God's angels get everything they need. Peace, Sheri Peters
I just want to say how wonderful it was to see John Garcia of Dogtown on. Thank you for highlighting the Vick Dog's and for helping show the world that these animals, Pit Bulls, are not the vicious unpredictatble dogs they are made out to be. It's the horrible people who raise them to be that way and ANY dog can be made to be vicious. Good for you too for making a donation to them for Christmas. I asked my mother to donate my Christmas gift to Bullies In Need, a locale Pit Bull rescue in Ottawa, Ontario Canada, where they are banned because of the misinformation people have about this breed. Because of her donation a 12 year old pit bull girl will get to enjoy at least one Christmas as she is getting out of the shelter. They are unsure, but believe she was hit in the side of the face with a two by four, as one side of her face is smashed in. This is what these dogs face, because of their power and their loyalty, they are one of the most abused animals around. Thank you Ellen for educating people today and encouraging others to do the same. And thank you for putting Pit Bulls in a positive light, we need that more often. Punish the Deed not the Breed!
Ellen thank you so much for sharing the story about dogtown and the Michael Vic Pit bulls. I have had Pit bulls in my home for over 20 years. They are loyal, gentle affectionate dogs. My children were raised with these intelligent companions.Presently I have two rescued pitbulls, MoJo and Kush who are wonderful members of our family. It means so much to me that you shared this information with the public, hopefully this will impact some members of our society to understand that it is not certain breeds of dogs that need to be banned in cities, but animal owners who need to be educated and held accountable for their actions.
Thanks agian

I just want to say this first the dog is the way you raise it. I raise Pitty's and Rottie's. They are the best digs in the world. I've raised from 2lb dogs to 150 lb dogs. The 2 lb dogs were worse than the 150 lb dogs. Ban the person not the breed. People make me so mad saying I have killer dogs. When I have the best dogs in the world. My 150 lb Rottie Harley will only go after someone if they are mean to me which is good because my husband is a truck driver and is gone a lot. Now I'm expecting mu first litter Rottiepittie's on Jan, 25 2009. So if you want one let me know that will be great dogs. I am glad you are a animal lover. Love DeAnna
Ellen!
I wish I could see this show. It would be my fave too. I don't get that channel. I believe dog whispere is on that too... I just have basic cable and from what I hear.. just rumors but you know how they were saying if you have cable you don't need to do anything.. well now I hear that comcast.. they are really rubbing me wrong lately.. says that you might need a box to get channels above channel 30 for basic cable viewers. Darn it all anyway.... first they took away channel 74 which told me what was on and now this... such a pain in the you know what.
I wish I could see this show. It looks good. Yes... innate or learned behavior. Tis been the question of eons! Psychological sociology in describing human behavior as well... can we rehabiliate felons/murderers???? Very deep subject but yes of course this was not the discussion but we could conjur this with humanity as well. So with the animals I too believe we should try.. perhaps it is 98.9% the envionment and 1/1% give or take genetic/innate. Another aspect to look at is the affects of over breeding. Some believe its the cranium being squeezed that makes dogs snap... hence overbreeding. To whatever end it is sad. I've seen the nicest pits and I don't mean Brad Pitt! LOL Here my state is trying to make the breed to be an evil one where the owners have to take multiple measures of safety just 'cause they have a pit. Its not the dog... its the owner... the product of the dog's envinment. I remember that dog fighting man... god I hate that. He should get a lot worse than he did. I am excited to learn that some of his fighting dogs are in the right hands now.. getting love... getting to learn what it is to be a dog... kinda like "Bolt"!!! Its a travesty and these dogs truly do have a lot of hurdles but with the proper love, respect, time, etc... they too will be that inner teddy bear!!.. cup cake! :)
lots of love Ellen.. and thank you for sharing.. introducing me to a group that is kind to animals.. that is making a difference.. where I too can make a difference. I hate mean. I love all animals. Animals need us and we need them. WE are supposed to take care of 'em... they are angels among us... they lower our blood pressure and are indeed our best friends. Some day and I was thinking.. maybe someday maybe I can have one of these rehabilitated Utah dogs... it would have to be small breed... i don't have a big yard.. condo life for me it tis! If not I plan on getting a dog from the humane society here... what will be will be... its meant to be.. someday my dog and I will find each other... the timing has to be right... tis not the time ... maybe soon.. I hope!
I can't thank Ellen enough for having John Garcia on the show. I lovelovelove the show Dogtown and applaud everything that Best Friends does. I am involved in animal rescue here in my hometown of Rochester, NY and, let me tell you, it is some hard work...but it is also more rewarding than you can imagine! Education is our number one way to combat pet overpopulation and promote animal rights in the United States and Ellen always does her part by using her show as tool to educate viewers. Thank you, Ellen!
Greetings from allthe City of Hartford,CT Pit Bulls who now sit in cold lonely shelters waiting for their forever homes. Your segment showing Georgia gave us hope that someone may come in and adopt us before it is too late. (We only get ten days here and then it is good night forever.) Please remember, not all pitties are bad. Give us a little guidance and training along with some TLC and we'll reward you with loyalty and love unlike anything you've ever experienced. Thank you for educating people about Best Friends and the good work they do. John Garcia, you're welcome to come to Hartfod anytime you want. You're a pittie angel in our book.
We took the afternoon off from work to watch this segment. My pittie Elvis is sitting here with us and we just wanted to shout out to Ellen a great big THANKS. John Garcia ROCKS! (Pat Whitaker another Best Friends trainer ROCKS - we saw you in action at Pets Alive in NY and Cam is another pittie who wouldn't be so darn happy now without having met you.) These people are just two of many that make Best Friends Animal Society the greatest place on earth. They are there for the animals and love what they do. Thank you Best Friends for stepping up and saving the Vick dogs. We love the updates on your website. Ellen, pitties get a lof bad press and yet here on your show was Georgia. A Michael Vick bait dog who behaved better than most people's pets would of on your stage with a live audience. Elvis says a great big woof to you!!! Vick is nobody's hero now.
Thank you Ellen for your support of animals and your support of Best Friends. Best Friend's is truly aan outstanding organization.
Thank you again! And I love your show.
Ellen, Hats off to you! Ten years ago, I adopted my first shelter dog and have not stopped helping animals in need. Your program today highlighting Best Friends Animal Society was wonderful. It brought awareness to an organizatin that does soooo much good for so many in need. Pitties have gotten a bad rap for way too long. John Garcia and the others at Best Friends have proven that dogs can and should be given a second chance. The cruelty that the Michal Vick dogs had to endure as a result of humans is appalling to say the least. Humans owe it to these animals to have a life of love and not deem them unfit for adoption. Best Friends is such a cool organization and I am thrilled to have seen them featured on your show. Georgia, sweet Georgia, has proven that dogs really are (wo)mans best friend!!!!! Thanks Ellen for showing a pittie that deserves nothing but love.
We are headed to Best Friends the day after Christmas to volunteer. I am even more excited now!!! God bless!
Ellen you brought tears to my eyes today while watching your segment on DOGTOWN.
To make a long story short, my husband and I brought a "pitty" into our home with our two small children and we have been so happy with the addition to our home. We socialize him everyday and HATE the fact that so many people are not educated. They think that only larger breeds pits, dobermans, rotwilers have the potential to bite. ALL dogs do, ALL dogs can cause harm.
Ellen, you have the opportunity to open the minds of others about pitty's and their GOOD nature, I hope that more people will follow your lead and help the cause and bring awareness.
GO DOGTOWN!
Thanks Ellen for airing this segment about Best Friends and the work they do. Thanks also for focusing the story on Pit Bulls, the more the general public can be educated about how wonderful these dogs are in the media, instead of the usual bad press that they get the better. Thanks to John Garcia and the volunteers at Best Friends who have been working so hard with the dogs that were victimized by Michael Vick. I am owned by two rescue pitt bulls and a Staffordshire Bull Terrier who are the most loving dogs well behaved dogs that you could ever meet. They are very social with people and other dogs and participate in the sport of dog agility. My husband and I enjoy showing them off in public so people can see that they can be trained to be great companions and athletes.
Seven years ago in a mall in Salt Lake City, a german mix picked me out.
She has been the most wonderful companion. My husband was on Hospice for six months, and with each visit, she checked out their bags, and supervised the care that they were giving him. She placed herself at my husbands feet and between he and the nurse.
The nurses came to love her and always brought her treats.
She and I now live alone , and she is the best company anybody could have. She is protective to my grandchildren and loves us all.
Life would not be as enjoyable without Sofie.
The world needs people like the Sanctuary to protect our animals. I am thankful for them.
Hi Ellen,
Thank you for having a spot about Best Friends on your show. My friend and I have volunteered at Best Friends for two years and they are absolutely amazing.
PLEASE PLEASE encourage everyone to spay and neuter their animals, and also not to buy from pet stores or over the internet from puppy mills. This would be my best Christmas present.
Thank you again,
Judy

Great show
