Check Out My New Favorite Book, "The Art of Racing in the Rain!"

Ever since 12-year-old Mimi Ausland gave me the book "The Art of Racing in the Rain," I haven't been able to put it down. It's about the life of a race car driver, told from the perspective of his dog, Enzo! Trust me, you're gonna love this story -- even those who are skeptical about talking canines.

Your family will love it. Your friends will love it. And call me a gambler, but I'd put money on the fact that even your cats will want you to read it to them again and again.

THIS LOOKS LIKE A REALLY INTERESTING BOOK. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO PICK A COPY AND READ IT. I LOVE DOGS. I HAVE TWO OF MY OWN. I STILL HAVE NOT FOUND THIS BOOK BUT WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO UNTIL I DO.

I listened to this book on disc on my summer vacation (just me and my dog). It is a really wonderful story. And you can't help but just love, love, love Enzo! Passed it on to my Mom after I listened to it and caught her pulling into the garage as she was reaching the end of the story - tears streaming down her face. A really worthwhile book - glad you're recommending it so others can discover the joy too!

Good grief -- this was soooo weird!! Our grandson, a Freshman at Loyola Univ. Chgo., is on the cross country/track team. When I saw the title of your book, I thought perhaps this would be a nice Christmas gift for Josh.

When I went to check it out, I really got the creeps. The dog on the cover looks like OUR dog, Ginger. The name of the author Garth Stein, shook me up, too. You see, our last name is "Karth" and Josh's last name is "Stein."

Now, I ask you. How weird is that? So, Ellen, do you think I should buy the book?

Dear Ellen Love to watch your show usually never miss it but I have been disappointed being from Canada we are allowed to watch your show but cannot participate in your Giveaway. Canada is not included. Can you please explain why. Hope u have a Very Merry Christmas.

Thanks Lisa

yesterday my soccer dog bentley were outside in the am of course was slippery and wwt outside ,my dog decides to do is run down the hill knock me over pulling me with him since he is a small dog landed in a pool of water did a sosomersault over himas he was running, he is a very smart dog for his age and boy he likes to keep you active like pulling th ball over his nose and hitting the ball and hits the ball until he scores. I am sure he can do other tricks as well too, specially his teething sticks he enjoys them. I could not live without him.

Hi Ellen!
I read this book a few weeks ago!! I just absolutely loved it... I'm now reading Merle's Door, and it's just as good. You should check it out.
I'm a huge fan of animals, dogs especially (have 3 myself).
Anyways, I thought I'd drop a quick note since not very many people have heard of this book and I only recently came across it...
Cheers,
Suzana

Hi Ellen and Portia how are you, Merry Christmas Happy New Year Iam Huge Fan Of Your Show Very Much? Happy Birthday Have a Wonderful Day and Portia I know Your Wife From Nip/Tuck and AllyMcBeal? Write Back Soon From Aimee Mason

I thought it was interesting to hear about such a book. Why not have a viewpoint being a dog's perspective of the events of life.
I am a writer trying to get recognized. I have written some book length manuscripts and working on smaller things to.
Believe it or not, you give me hope to try again.
Thanks.
P.S. I once wrote a complete opera featuring talking animals who tried to win a popularity contest at a dog show. Unfortunately, they were not all dogs, they just thought they were.

Ellen,

"The Art of Racing in the Rain" is truly a great and imaginative book. And, although dog lovers will truly enjoy it, it has legs and stands on its own (pun intended).

Great show again today with Kate and Adele. Keep doin' what you do.
