OMG This little girl looks exactly like my 6yr old daughter. How do i get a hold of her family. It is amazing.!!!

The KIDS are great... Julian was 5 when he invented the Underwater See-er. But you never saw the SHATTERPROOF TACO SHELL, made from cornmeal and celery strands... or the SNEAKLY-PLATE, to hide those yukky cold peas from your mom in the hidden trap-door... or even ZIP-ITS, sneakers with top-sides that zip-on zip-off to match whatever outfit you might wear.

These and other Connecticut kids partake in a non-profit offering called the Connecticut Invention Convention (CIC), where new critical-thinking skills are developed that challenge a child's problem solving ability. The problem defined is up to each student, and the solution solely the creativity of the child.

For 26 years VOLUNTEERS have managed the program, introducing 8,000 to 11,000 kids each year to INVENTING. Come see us this year, on MAY 2nd, at Univsity of Connecticut's GAMPEL PAVILION, to see the best 650 kids compete for 240 Recognition awards.

WANT TO START A PROGRAM IN YOUR STATE, Just follow the model we instituted in the Republic of Mauritius. The CIC was selected to teach Mauritian Ministriy of Education INNOVED leaders our Curriclum processes. Three years later, they have more kids taking INVENTION EDUCATION than we do in our state. And Mauritius was selected by Time magazine last year as one of the top two 2nd World Emerging Economies.

Happy New Year Ellen. Let's hope that 2009 is better than 2008. In 2008, with in 3.5 weeks, my 25 year marriage ended in divorce, my 2 children moved out on their own, sold my dream house, moved, bought another house, THEN, got laid off. All with in 3.5 weeks! 2008 was the worst!
Not so good when you are almost 49 years old and was a stay at home mom for 12 years.
Any way. Thankfully, I found another job after 2 months of searching (Whew). My wonderful sister Becky and my wonderful daughter Erika has helped me so much in making this difficult life transition. We are all HUGE fans of your show. We would love to come and see you!
I sure could use some fun in my life right now. None of us have ever been to a television studio and my daughter has never seen California or the ocean for that matter. It would be a thrill!
Every one is having so much fun on your show, I would love to be a part of that.
Could you please send me some tickets and help jump start my 2009.
That would make me so happy and I'm sure it would set the tone for a much better 2009. If it won't work out, that's okay, I just thought I would try?
Happy New Year Ellen! Thanks for always making me laugh.

THESE KIDS ARE GREAT. THEY USE THERE MINDS AT SUCH AN EARLY AGE.

How do I get tickets to the Ellen Show?

Dear Ellen.

Loved to see your little inventors on. That kid with the underwater googles had me institches. The little girl that had the perfect piece cake cutter was to much. To see you standing on it trying to cut thru the cake. I was thinking that maybe the cake was made of concrete.

Poor Megan, that cake was made out of like, PLASTER or something! And she looks so shellshocked! I think her idea is awesome, everyone in my family sucks at cutting cakes and my mom's a baker! Go Megan!

Shirley Tharp- To say that Obama has done nothing for this country is so wrong. He has united our country and the world. I live in Illinois and he has done a lot for our state. He was part of our state government that made it possible for my nieces to go to school (pre-K) and have medical coverage. My sister-in-law doesn’t have the means to provide that for them, but they still have the same opportunities the other children have with parents that can provide. I provide them with clothes and any other means, but I am single and it is hard and one less thing I have to worry about is medical and schooling for them. He has never forgotten where his roots are from and he has fought hard for those of us with a small voice. I know he will do even more for our country. When he says he is going to make sure every child has the same opportunity, I believe him. He is going to change education, healthcare and give every American the opportunity to make dreams come true. He truly is a leader and he knows how to listen. I know he will put together the best team to keep our country safe and begin the rebuilding of our great nation.
I have always liked John McCain for his service and sacrifices he has made for our country. Just like so many millions of service men and women have. I will always be thankful to all of them. It is because of all the sacrifices that have been made that allows freedom for everyone in this country. That doesn’t mean that anyone that has made those sacrifices is necessarily the right person to run our country. McCain may have done great, but I just think and so does 52% of the American people that Obama is the one to put our country back to where it belongs. I feel hope again. It has been so long since I felt this way, and I with millions of other Americans cried when Obama took the stage for his victory speech. “We are not a blue or red Nation, we are the United States of America”
I have been a fan of Ellen’s for over twenty years. I don’t ever recall her being political with the exception of a couple of issues. The last being Prop. 8. I feel that she should have used her influence on that. It affects her life personally. She had and has every right to use her voice on that. She didn’t even base her show around that either. She could have, but she didn’t. She spoke out on her web-site with a statement, and as a guest on the Tonight show with Jay Leno. As far as this election I don’t recall her making a stand on either candidate. She made a joke about her Halloween costume and change, then again about voting and not being confused with Maverick not being a name on the ballot, but until it was over I don’t recall her ever stating who she was backing. Even after the election she stated how moved she was, so were millions of other Americans. She would ask guests their views, but she never commented one way or the other, she was giving them a chance to talk about their views. I think the only thing she really spoke about was voting. Not who to vote for, but to vote. I even used her influence on my sister-in-law who has never voted before. I even bought her one of Ellen’s, Laugh. Dance. Vote. T-shirts to get her in the mode. (Which by the way when we wore our shirts on election day everyone commented on how much they liked them.)
Ellen even had McCain on her show. To say that Ellen has lost a fan that loved her, well you didn’t really love her then. The whole nation was moved. She was making a comment about how she was moved. I was there in Grant Park in Chicago the night of the election and the feeling of all the people coming together is unexplainable. It was a feeling of hope and a coming together as one. It was an emotion beyond words. You couldn’t help from crying with the emotion of it all. Even a host on another popular talk show that spoke clearly on her backing for McCain throughout the campaign was moved. I truly feel bad for you that you can’t understand the magnitude of this election and being able to witness the historical marker it made. Even McCain stated that this was an historical event and asked for Americans to come together. I am so excited about what Obama is going to do for our great nation. I am starting to cry again, because I with so many other million of Americans have been caught in the middle of this economic down fall and now I feel there is hope and a light to look towards. Look how disciplined his campaign was. That is a difficult task to accomplish. He had the most disciplined campaign ever in history, I can only imagine how he will be as President. Probably the best in history. He even took time out to spend time with his dying grandmother and then again to take his daughters trick-o-treating. What a great man. He can juggle and accomplish so much. He didn’t even take a break after a long drawn out campaign, he jumped right in and started working on how he is going to fix this nation the day after he was elected. Just give him a chance. Just like your candidate stated, we need to come together. We need to support our Country and the President-elect.
On a lighter note. Ellen-your show really cracked me up today. I laughed so hard today, I was crying. You just keep getting better and better. This has nothing to do with today’s show, but it reminded me of my mother. She was dying with cancer and one of the times I was with her I was watching your show and you were doing this acopelo (I have no idea how to spell it and I hope I got it close enough where you can understand what I am saying) with the audience. She laughed so hard she was crying. I honestly did not get it. I love music, but she was more involved with the singing, playing instruments, and having a conductor. She tried to explain it to me, but I just didn’t see the humor or understand it. Anyway, whenever you do something so funny where I am laughing and start crying from laughing so hard it always reminds me of my mother. A time where even though she was in so much pain you made her laugh. The memory of that gives me a good feeling inside because I like to remember the good times with my mother and even though she was sick that is a good memory because she had a beautiful laugh and contagious laugh. Thank you for the memory and so much more.

Ellen,

I think the segment on the children's inventions was absolutely hysterical. The children were very creative in their ideas and were very cute up there sharing their inventions; however I could not help but to laugh hysterically at you up there laughing. That poor little boy really wanted to see something in that pool, but I think he was just staring at the plastic liner. He definately tried to make it look realistic though! lol

Shirley Tharp - you have said your peace - to say Obama has done nothing for this country - well you might want to rephrase that - he has beome the President Elect of the US - what have you done for the country. If you think that by stopping being a fan because of differences in political issues - thanks for leaving. I think that those that are open to change and opinions are what we need in this country - those close minded people are the reason for so many problems in the world. Thanks again for leaving - we are better off without narrow minded people like you.

That was a very good invention- cake slicer...Maybe you can help get a patent for the idea...maybe she can design for all shapes of cakes...

Ellen - I loved your show today. However, the the girl who had the great invention of Equal slicing Cake invention was really short changed AGAIN! I know the last time it didn't work out for her and here she is again having a difficult time showing the world her invention. Who made that cake - it looked like it must have been the toughest cake ever made. I think someone needs to help her so that she can really show the world her invention. You could see it in her eyes - the rest of the world was enjoying the boy with the spy glasses for underwater - but here she was trying to understand why it didn't work this time.....Maybe Martha can help her. Just don't want her to go home and say "I'll never try to invent something again" cause it didn't work out this time. Let her know I thought her invention was very good.

Love Clare

I LAUGHED MY A-S-S- OFF i WAS ABOUT TO BIKINI WAX A CLIENT AND I TOLD HER WAIT A MINUTE I HAVE TO FINISH WATCHING THIS. SHE LAUGHED HER YOU KNOW WHAT OFF AS WELL. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE WAXING FOR HER WAS NOT SO BAD. YOU WERE BETTER THAN A TOPICAL PAIN RELIVER. SEE YOU IN VEGAS

What a cake!
But Ellen, you are so sweet when you are laughing so much. Go on!

Shirley, you are just upset that Mccain lost and you fear the unknown. The American people have spoken. This is American and Ellen has every right to say what she wants. If you were really a big fan then you would understand her situation and not judge other people. By the way, Ellen I love your show!!

I'M WRITING TO ASK IF YOU HELP PEOPLE WHO ARE IN DEBT AND HAVE NO WHERE TO TURN. MY HUSBAND AND I FEEL AS IF WE ARE FALLING INTO A BIG HOLE AND CAN'T GET OUT. WE BOTH LOVE TO WATCH YOUR SHOW AND I DECIDED TO WRITE AND FOR YOUR HELP, IF YOU DO THIS KIND OF THING. THANKS SHARON COFFEY
