So yeah, you brought back memories of whipping a towel.. you yield it into a rope like and whip it sideways and make that snapping sound!! I got my little sister a few times!!! FUN!! FUN!!! FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep... I was the big sister! Protector though.. if anyone messed with her ... MAN... you mess with me!!!! I only had to defend her a few times and that was the end of that!

Hi Ellen,
I'm a Kenyan woman and believe it or not, my husband's mom is related to President elect Obama's late father, back in Kenya- so you bet we've had a looong campaign and are elated that our prayers were finally answered. On the eve of election day my husband and I wrote a 'Victory song' for Obama and did a quick music video as they were counting votes the following day. How can we get this music out on your show? Thanks also for supporting artistes who can't make it thro the big doors. My daughters are accomplished unsigned singers whom I hope will one day hit your stage. Let me know how I can get them in your show. You will be thoroughly impressed! Love what you do...

My family is celebrating the victory of President Obama along with the rest of the country. But the remarks of how "it's time for change" and "yes we can" make changes are a huge misstatement when gay families are still being discriminated against. How can people celebrate what they call breaking the prejudice barrier by electing an African-American president but still show prejudice against gay families. We would love for you to use your ability to reach millions through your television exposure to address this issue. The hope for Americans is still not equal and that must not be forgotten. We still need your voice.
Thanks from,
Jaz,Marilynn and our son Justice
Everyone who is sharing on this site that opposes gay marriage should find another site to spread their hate, I am allowed to have an opinion, too.
Hi Ellen, even though I am not from California, from your aspect I am sad by the decision, but you were married way before this came into play so you are still legally married as far as I am concerned. Don't ever stop what you do because you bring joy and hope to a world of people who before watching your show had none. As far as Obama, we already know he does not support it, but has said that he did. Just another political lie for a vote!!
How bittersweet today is. We have won Obama as president but sadly most voted yes on 8. We must ban together straight and gay and push for gay marriage again and again until there are equal right for all. When you spoke your vows you meant them and that is what matters most. You are married and loved & supported by millions.
How very sad I am today. Although I do not live in California I was praying for everyone to vote NO! I am a proud mother of a lesbian teenage daughter. I pray that people will learn to understand that you cannot become a lesbian female or gay male by being around a gay individual. My daughter was born into a family that is all heterosexuals. I raised her alone after the passing of my husband/her father. I have known since she was very young that she most likely was a lesbian. I taught her to always be herself. Do not change just because everyone else thinks you should be someone different than you are. I have loved every part of raising her and tried my best to show her that all people are equal. Unfortunately not everyone feels the same.
Ellen and Portia I pray that God will help those who do not understand. Although the law does not represent you as a married couple that cannot take away the love and bond you have for each other.
My best to you both,
Leen

You cannot take this personally - How easy it would be to be bitter and angry - You do so much - Breast Cancer etc., this defeat is not personally against you - I hope you get to renew your VOWS soon!! You deserve what everyone else has - you make it possible for so many people to have what others have.
I am so sad for you today....
Paul @10.24pm,
Gays and lesbians are still the minority you know. Reproduction is not going to end because gays and lesbians are given the same rights as everyone else. And you don't have to be married to have children either. Only the insecure voted yes on prop 8 and yet there is nothing to be threatened by!
Hi Ellen!
As almost everybody i'm happy for the presidential results...
but i've been checking also the Prop 8 results and i saw the big score of the "Yes"..
I'm disapointed, as you certainly are... but you need to keep fighting for that right.
People thinks it's childish for us to want the same rights AND the same name "Marriage". But that's just being recognize as "normal" or "the same".
Here in France, gay marriage is not allowed. As i'm living in Paris, we don't really have problems about being gay (if you are not going on the wrong places..etc.) but we need that symbol here. We need symbols, we really need that.
Well, the world will not change in a blink, but i want to make sure that if my niece or my nephew appear to be gay when they'll grow up, they won't be living what we all lived during our childhood.
The opponent to gay marriage are always saying that they are "fighting for children interest". What about those who are going to be gay? do they think to those kids?
No! they just think about "our children that are too perfect to be gay". What about Us? we are no more their children cause we're gay? We don't need anybody to think about our interest?
No.. that's true, nobody is thinking about our interests, we are the only one able to do so, and that's why we need to think about those kids that are going to grow up and still think that being gay is not normal and that they are not normal and that they must hide and live a different life..and we need to fight for that...
You have a position that makes you a real voice with a real impact, thank you for using it the way you do.
With all my respect and all my gratitude,
Sorry but what a country Great,Big America vote Yes on Prop.8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How is it posible that a state as California vote Yes on Prop.8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a luck that I,am a Netherlander and gay, that gay marriage is legal, that gay,s may have childeren, that gay,s have the same rights in my little Holland.
Ellen,Portia and all gay,s keep fight, keep fight for the same rights, never give up
What a strange country that voted for Yes on Prop.8 (really 53,3 %), No was not enough (46,7 %).
Portia and Ellen, how can it be that more inhabitants of California are against the marriage of gays? I am happy that I am living in germany and gays may do what they want: marry (legal) or whatever. Our major of the city is gay also, the one from Hamburg, too and they may marry, of course. See, it is normal!
I did not expect that equal rights are so hard to get in the U.S.
Sorry for your state, never give up the fight! Change it (the prop.8)!
Maybe Obama will help as a president, he promised so much. I was happy that he said something about Berlin in his first speach after the election. We are still happy that we do not have the wall any more. Maybe you can put down the wall in the heads of those 53,3 % who voted YES on Prop.8! Go on!
Hi everyone who care about Ellen and Portia's marriage!
Even if the "Yes" votes defeats the "No" votes, Ellen and Portia's marriage is still legal. I have not seen the result yet?
Anyway, everything will be fine since the Americans elected Obama. Obama can do something to the constitution after he fixes the financial mess!
So, don't worry, everything will be fine. Back to normal, we will tune in to enjoy Ellen's shows.
Cheers everyone,
Maria Loi
Fantastic!
I just got home from work.. yes I got to go to work again and in 5 hours I will have more fun!!!
At my work they give PCMs.. thats Post communications meetings. BUT.. its actually in the middle of my shift.. not post! lol It is hard to hear my leader/boss HEee and today ironically I thought he should have a blow horn so I could hear! People were asking me.. what did he say? I said.. I don't know!!!! be safe!?? Heeee My boss .. my fearless leader needs one! He wants to be heard. We are all surrounding him (like willobies at a watering hole)but the people behind can't hear. His voice doesn't project backwards!!! LOL So since I can't hear.. I kinda give my own PCM!!! Lift with knees.. don't touch leave area notify supervisor, keep eyes ahead of work area.. bla bla .. yeah yeah.. I know this..carry on troops! YOur the best.. be safe and have a great day! They arn't that nice.. but they do feed us after so many safe days with no injuries! Plus it hurts to get hurt!
I bet you are up past 10pm tonight Ellen!.. maybe not... I don't know.
My co-worker at work tonight and I had fun! I mentioned I was going to go to Starbucks after work and get my free coffee! HE said he's going to hit3 or 5 Starbucks! We laughed and laughed.. thought that was funny and I got a visual of a lot of coffee cups and driving up to the 4th starbucks and your the only one in the car and asking for a cup.. would they look at you funny and most importantly would they give you that cup of coffee!!! But then I thought if you really wanted to be efficient you would have a whole coffee pot in your car propped somehow to not spill and go to multiple Starbucksiz! and just empty each cup to the last drop(Folgers remember that commercial!) into your pot of antioxidants!
I had 'em laughin again tonight! Its sooo fun! :)
Nite!!!
I'm getting really silly now.. I get this way when I get tired!! HEeeeee
Later!

Prop 8 does not discriminate against getting married. You just have to do it the proper way. Be a man and a woman. Where would a city made up of all same sex partners be in one hundred years from now if every couple kept to themselves. There would be no people left. You would all be dead. No children. Look at all of the money the G's and L's caused everyone to spend on this issue. Thank GOD the squeaky wheel fell off this time. Isn't it funny how all liberals promote free thinking (as long as we all think like they do).
Dearest Ellen,
I've watching Prop. 8 all night and I'm truly afraid that it's going to pass. I want you to know that myself and so many of my friends and family love and support you and we will continue to fight for your rights (and many others) no matter what.
You are a wonderfully magical, amazing lady with an incredible gift of talent and heart. Seriously, I love ya! Take care, and never give up!
Love,
Keri Pfantz

LOS ANGELES -- After the most expensive campaign in state history over a social issue, Californians went to the polls today to vote on the divisive and deeply emotional issue of same-sex marriage.
Proposition 8, which would amend the California Constitution to ban gay marriage, has been extremely close in recent polling, with the Field Poll last week showing 49% against and 44% in favor of the measure, with 7% undecided. Along with the presidential race, the fight over gay marriage is among the nation's most closely watched contests. Volunteers from around the country have staffed phone banks, and campaign contributions have come from every state in the nation to the "no" campaign, and every state but Vermont to the "yes" side.
The two sides raised nearly $74 million and blanketed the airwaves for weeks with expensive television and radio commercials.
The battle also has been waged on street corners and front lawns, from the pulpits of churches and synagogues and -- unusual for a fight over a social issue -- in the boardrooms of many of the state's largest corporations.
Most of the state's highest-profile political leaders -- including both U.S. senators and the mayors of San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles -- along with the editorial pages of most major newspapers have opposed the measure. PG&E, Apple and other companies contributed money to fight the proposition, and the heads of Silicon Valley companies including Google and Yahoo took out a newspaper ad opposing it.
Many argued, as former President Bill Clinton did in a taped call to millions of registered voters in the days before the election, that the measure was discriminatory because it would strip rights from gay couples and treat them differently from heterosexual couples.
"If I know one thing about California, I know that is not what you're about. That is not what America is about. Please vote 'no' on 8. It's unfair and it's wrong," Clinton said.
On the other side have been an array of conservative organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, Focus on the Family and the American Family Assn., along with tens of thousands of small donors, including many who responded to urging from Mormon, Catholic and evangelical clergy. An early October filing by the "yes" campaign reported so many contributions that the secretary of State's campaign finance website crashed.
Proponents also organized a massive grass-roots effort. Campaign officials said they distributed more than 1.1 million lawn signs for Proposition 8 -- although an effort to stage a massive, simultaneous lawn-sign planting in late September failed after production problems in China delayed hundreds of thousands of signs.
For weeks before the election, thousands of volunteers also gathered on street corners around the state waving "Yes on 8" banners -- often squaring off against "No on 8" volunteers on opposite corners.
Research and polling showed that many voters were against gay marriage, but afraid that saying so would make them seem "discriminatory" or "not cool," said Jeff Flint, a campaign strategist for Proposition 8, so proponents hoped to show them they were not alone.
Perhaps more powerfully, the Proposition 8 campaign also seized on the issue of education, arguing in a series of advertisements and mailers that children would be subjected to a pro-gay curriculum if the measure was not approved.
"Mom, guess what I learned in school today?" a little girl said in one spot. "I learned how a prince married a prince."
As the girl's mother made a horrified face, a voice-over said: "Think it can't happen? It's already happened. . . . Teaching about gay marriage will happen unless we pass Proposition 8."
The "no" side countered with ads that included state Supt. of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell saying the proposition had nothing to do with schools, and that "schools aren't required to teach anything about marriage."

Yesturday was an historic day for america. We elected our first African-American president. Thats kind of a big deal. It makes you think about a lot. Our country has overcome the race advecidy and proudly elected Barack Obama as our next president of the United States of America. This really gets me to thinking, if we can get over race, how come we can't get over gay people being able to get married??? Prop 8 in California is still undecided, but according to the polls, Prop 8 is heading towards a ban in gay marriage. I also have found out, since America can't get over the fact gay people LOVE each other, a ban for homosexual adoption has been approved. So now not only can I not get married, I'm not allowed to have freaking kids. All i have to say is that is a huge THANKS A LOT AMERICA for screwing me over in a GOOD OL' FASHION ameican life.
My argument for gay marriage will stay strong. I love my girlfriend as any straight person loves their significant other. I find this absolutly ridiculous. I didn't get to vote wheather you should get married, why do you get to decide my happiness and I can't decide on yours? I want to be able to spend the rest of my life with the person I love like any "normal" person gets to spend theirs. I want to be able to get married in the country I was born in and be able to adopt kids who need a home.
Now I want to understand how come we can get over the issue of race can be overcome with everything that has happened in history, but we can't let people who love one another deeply get married or adopt kids? I don't care how many people I tick off, but I want the right, like so many other gay couples, to spend the rest of my life with the person I love. I want to be able to adopt kids. I want my life to be like yours.
As of now, I don't think I will be remaining in this country for very long. I think that for a country to be considered free and for the people, I should have the right to be married and to be able to have kids.
