Thanks Ellen for the fact sheet on prop 8 me and my boyfriend are going to wait and see what happens before we decide to get married
we will be part of your show on Nov 25th 2008 we will be with my boyfriends sister and mom
congrats on your marriage stay happy together and keep up the wonderful work you are doing
the comments are turned off for prop 8, but here's a fact sheet.
Fiction: Teaching children about same-sex marriage will happen here unless we pass Prop 8.
Fact: Not one word in Prop 8 mentions education, and no child can be forced, against the will of their parents, to be taught anything about health and family issues at school. California law prohibits it, and the Yes on 8 campaign knows they are lying. Sacramento Superior Court Judge Timothy Frawley has already ruled that this claim by Prop 8 proponents is “false and misleading.”
Fiction: Churches could lose their tax-exemption status.
Fact: Nothing in Prop 8 would force churches to do anything. In fact, the court decision regarding marriage specifically says “no religion will be required to change its religious policies or practices with regard to same-sex couples, and no religious officiant will be required to solemnize a marriage in contravention of his or her religious beliefs.”
Fiction: A Massachusetts case about a parent's objection to the school curriculum will happen here.
Fact: Unlike Massachusetts, California gives parents an absolute right to remove their kids and opt-out of teaching on health and family instruction they don't agree with. The opponents know that California law already covers this and Prop 8 won't affect it, so they bring up an irrelevant case in Massachusetts.
Fiction: Four Activist Judges in San Francisco…
Fact: Prop 8 is not about courts and judges, it's about eliminating a fundamental right. Judges didn't grant the right, the constitution guarantees the right. Proponents of Prop 8 use an outdated and stale argument that judges aren't supposed to protect rights and freedoms. This campaign is about whether Californians, right now, in 2008 are willing to amend the constitution for the sole purpose of eliminating a fundamental right for one group of citizens.
Fiction: People can be sued over personal beliefs.
Fact: California’s laws already prohibit discrimination against anyone based on race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. This has nothing to do with marriage.
Fiction: Pepperdine University supports the Yes on 8 campaign.
Fact: The university has publicly disassociated itself from Professor Richard Peterson of Pepperdine University, who is featured in the ad, and has asked to not be identified in the Yes on 8 advertisements.
Fiction: Unless Prop 8 passes, CA parents won't have the right to object to what their children are taught in school.
Fact: California law clearly gives parents and guardians broad authority to remove their children from any health instruction if it conflicts with their religious beliefs or moral convictions.
Regardless of how you feel about the issue, we should not eliminate fundamental rights for ANY Californians. Please vote NO on Prop 8.
It was not my first date I mean I had dates before but this was the first date with a boy he was 18years and I was 17years he want with me to a restaraunt and then to the chinema but be honest I felt in sleep even before I saw some food and I never saw a movie that evening, the next day we both laugh about it a few years later I saw him again he was a happy lucky married man with two childeren
thanks for let me sleep on that evening that you open my eyes and feelings
my first is....
the first time that i watch your show, the ellen degeneres show, i couldn't remember the date but i always remember the laughter and funny moments you give to me while watching your show and for sure i will never stop watching your show eventhough im here in the philippines :)
My first kiss from a boy was a technical thing, the first kiss from a girl was hot. Then I tried to be with men, but I could not feel what I thought I am able to feel and felt the difference when I had my first date with a woman. Wow! Unfortunately a lot of men always try to flirt with me and I always must disapoint them and sometimes they do not accept when I am telling them that I am in a close relationship to a woman. Then they think, that must be nice as a TRIO. That can make you sick, girl.
How I came together with my woman? Another woman, a wonderful one, introduced us because she tought, that it will click between us. She was so right:....and in the next second....
Hi Ellen,
You are doing enough for Prop 8 with videos all over the net. Why should you throw your hard earned money to whatever groups if you don't know their books! You are taking very creative initiative with the video on your site and that is ample!
All non profit groups are actually doing business in a creative way. They have to be transparent in their books before anyone actually donate to them! The Presidents and CEOs of most of these groups make great living at the expense of whatever they are representing!
Stay stubborn, don't contribute your hard earn money to them no matter how much pressure they put on you! Donating 10k will not be enough for them and with 10k you can do alot of good things!
They are not aware that you pay a lot of taxes when your bracket is above a certain level. You had come through in a great way when they boycotted you then. I admired what you had done to yourself. I pray to the God of love to protect you and keep Portia with you forever!
I love your show! You work very hard to produce such delights for us to watch! Thank you Ellen!
Cheers,
Maria Loi

Hay Ellen,
I am watching your show right now and at the beginning of the show where you do your dance sequence (which I love) sometimes I notice you stop to notice the person that is sitting in a wheel chair and you dance with them a little bit at times. I can't help but notice that you look uncomfortable at times as well as the person that is sitting there.
You see I have a brother that is also in a wheel chair. I imagine that if I were to ever go with him to your show he would not want to sit alone. I think he would feel uncomfortable about this.
I am typing this email to you in regards as if maybe you could put some extra chairs there for family to be able to sit with them. Just a suggestion. Wouldn't like to tell you how to do your show since it is abviously perfect.
I am trying to type this email to you while I am watching your show and I can't help but get distracted. I love your segment with Lauren. Truely funny!!!!!!
So I will end it here so I can watch and focus on the funny.
Sincerely,
Juanita Hammel (Nita)
