As Ellen mentioned on Friday, in some states, this weekend is your final chance to register to vote! With help from “Declare Yourself,” you can register before it’s too late by clicking here, and together we can make a difference in this historic November election!

Thank you so much for telling me how to register to vote!!!! And as it turns out my state does not require me to register before I vote. To me and many others this is the most important election of my life time. Thank you for the information and now I know that I do not have to register!!! Yay one less thing that I have to do. ;)

YOU DON'T NEED A HOME TO VOTE!
PLEASE, contact The National Coalition for the Homeless (nationalhomeless.org), your local Coalition, or a local shelter for assistance. It doesn't matter why you don't have a home (the economy, a hurricane, a foreclosure, or any other reason), you are still a citizen, you have rights, and YOU CAN STILL VOTE!

To Megan and all the other college students out there: please go to www.longdistancevoter.org for all the info you need to vote absentee. They have info for all 50 states.

But don't wait! You have a few more weeks to request an absentee ballot, but the deadline to register has already passed in six states! The deadline is tomorrow (Oct 6) in my home state of Colorado, and in 18 other states.

Thanks Ellen!

I have tried to register to vote, but because I have no home address, I am not able to. This
should not be an issue, and there should be a way for every citizen to vote.

For everyone that says "Ellen, keep your political views off the show" is ridiculous! She is not telling you who to vote for, she is saying JUST VOTE! Ellen is not entitled to "FREEDOM OF SPEECH"? Why cause she is on T.V.? Outrageous! Really! FREEDOM OF SPEECH!! VOTE PEOPLE! (Oh sorry did I just tell you who to vote for????) Sorry!

And of course she wants to ask her guest of the show their opinions on the candidates.. LOOK AT THE CANDIDATES!! This is a HUGE election, its nice to know other peoples OPINIONS, its not them trying to tell YOU who to vote for, its who THEY are voting for! If Ellen say "Oh I think I might jump off a bridge today" she isn't tell YOU that YOU should do it cause she is doing it! She is telling you what she is doing..

FREEDOM OF SPEECH!! (and YES Ellen is entitled to it!)

everyone is intitled to there opinion, if ellen wants to broadcast it let her. if you dont like it get your own t.v. show. i fully support you ellen.

The point she's trying to make is that EVERYONE, regardless which party they favor, should vote. That's all she said when Leonardo was on the show and that was the point they were BOTH making. Not once they they mention who to vote for. If you choose to read into it, that's your option. Just like Ellen chooses to do and say whatever she wants on her show. When you have your own show, you can do and say whatever you want, as well. Thank goodness we can in America.

GET OVER IT PEOPLE! She was not telling you who to vote for, she was just ENCOURAGING you to REGISTER AND VOTE. Voting is an opportunity and a choice to be involved in the world around you.

Hi. I'm not able to watch the show every day so I'm not aware of Leonardo DiCaprio's segment (on voting?). But, I do have a college-age son who registered to vote on our county's website. You can just Google your county and add the words "register to vote." My county's website states last day to register is 10/20/08. Once you are registered, you can ask for an "absentee ballot" also on the website. When you request an "absentee ballot," you can have it mailed to your current (college) address/mailbox. I have heard there are going to be record numbers of voters this year at the polls, which might create a "melt-down" (a la Gore vs. Bush); so, voting by mail seemed like a good idea to me. I called my county registrar yesterday because I received an email re: Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. discussing the Help Americans Vote Act (HAVA) created after the 2000 "melt-down." It turns out that if you are newly registered, you usually have to show proof of ID (Driver's License or other picture ID) when you show up at the polls to vote. What RFK, Jr. said he's hearing is if college kids don't also submit a color copy of their DL with their absentee ballot, their ballot is NOT counted. He also said, in his interview, county registrars can/will check with other government agencies (like DMV) to confirm your identity and if you have registered to vote using an alteration of your name, you could be ineligible to vote. He mentioned this as an example: if your DMV record has full middle name or "Jr." and you neglect to register with your full middle name or forget the "jr." you could be put on the ineligible to vote list. That's why I called my registrar and I will be including a color copy of my son's DL when we mail his ballot (they agreed if my son came to the polling place, he would need his DL; but could not confirm or deny if he mailed in his ballot). RFK also mentioned that NJ registrars have notified 300,000 registered voters that they are currently ineligible to vote due to incorrect names on poll lists but that most states will NOT because they don't have to notify voters. I'm sorry for the long post, and there's a lot more about this but find it hard to believe no one is talking about this. Please vote and MAKE SURE your vote is counted!

It's impossible...

You are right.
My friends, my family and I don't need to watch Ellen show anymore.
We will watch the other show from now on.
Thanks for telling her fans what to do.

Ellen, Ellen,......I, along with other viewers, would appreciate it if you would keep your political views off of your show. You always seem to think it is necessary to ask your liberal friends their opinion on the race!!!

whoa!easy on the comments there!with all due respect if you dont like what ellen chooses to put on HER own show then dont watch that days show then. just like with everybody, ellen has a right to her opinion, political or not.this is what makes ellen sincere and loved.she is never afraid to say what is on her mind.we love you ellen!!!!!!!!!!

shame on you for using your entertainment show as a political platform...you and Oprah. You could have easily made your point without stuffing your views down our throats! PSA's are supposed to be for everyone to benefit from. The vulgar language was unacceptable for this stay at home mom who is glad her son was at school and not watching you show your arse! If it needs bleeped dont say it! Show some class.

Hey Ellen,
Just wanted to tell ya that my girlfriend and I LOVE your show!!! It's AWESOME that you are getting everyone so involved in voting this election. You are truly doing great things with your celeb power. =) I know how important voting will be for me and my partner, since same sex marriage is not recognized in Colorado. I'm so happy for you and Portia (sp?) and hope some day I will be able to marry the woman that I love. Hook a sista up with some tickets to your show if you have a cancellation (which I DOUBT you will)! haha =) Keep up the great work!

Mary =)

Tina Fey,I do apologize for mispelling your last name.

Thanks, forgive me.
Michele

I want to be heard.

I'm making a stand.

I am selecting a change!

I am voting!

I so agreed with everyword that break dancer said today!!!!... the guy that wants Jennifer A. !.. who was wearing Ellen's underwear!!! LOL

Hi Ellen,

Lastnights performance at the Vice Presidential Debate,Sarah Palin gave Tina Faye great material, to use on" Saturday Night Live".

Ellen and staff and your families, have a good and safe weekend.

Ellen, write ya later. And ya Monday.

Love you.
Michele

Ellen - we love you and your show, but it's become so apparent as of late that you seem to be asking the celebrities you have on to make political statements for Obama and against Palin (ie: Sharon Osbourne's comments). I just don't think it's a good thing to do - we love your show for your warmth and humor and generosity and don't feel the political aspsect becomes the show. Just our thoughts.....

Ellen - I think you have the potential to use your dance music for an incredible fundraiser for a charitable cause: What if...you could put together either a CD (or DVD) of your best dance music/moves that lasts exactly 30 minutes, which is how long we should all exercise three to four days per week - and sell it for charity? I know that to find good music to "dancer-size" to is hard, and I would love to have a compilation of your dance songs. I realize you may have to get the ok's from celebs, but that could be a positive for them too as people were made aware they allowed their music to be used for charity. AND...the health benfits for those using it would be a plus too. ANYway...just a thought.
