Help Rescue an Animal from Iraq!

Operation Baghdad Pups is a rescue program organized by the SPCA. Donations from people like you are used to bring abandoned dogs and cats that have been befriended by soldiers overseas to their new homes in the U.S.

In addition to airfare costs, this program provides all vaccinations and health care necessary to ensure the dogs and cats can be safely reunited with the soldiers who found them. To find out more and to donate to this very worthy cause, please visit www.baghdadpups.com.

Wow! How wonderful to support our troops who we must never forget.

Now why can't you bring these saved animals onto ELLEN to show the actual good this country can do for our soldiers and our animals?

Ok...Ok! Let's drop the discussion of POLITICS! Let's agree that we're not all going to agree with each other. That's exactly what's wrong with the world....instead of looking at each other as a person we now look at them as a Democrat or Republican. Let it go folks! I didn't like what Sharon O. said or do I agree with her but she is entitlted to her opinion, even tho she is not a U.S. citizen. She's a person with an opinion. I'm certainly not going to punish myself by not watching Ellen anymore.....all because of a political opinion. Don't matter to me what Sharon O. thinks. Who really listens to her anyway?! Last night I flipped back n forth to Jay Leno & Letterman.....they both had guests on who were bashing Sarah/McCain. I was very turned off by the rude comments but I don't blame Jay or David Letterman fo what comes out of their guests mouth. In the end it doesn't matter. We will have a new President soon and he will be a Republican or a Democrat. Life will go on.

Ellen, I support you and Sharon %100. I am disappointed in the comments have read. You are a wonderful leading public figure and have the right to free speech like everyone else. I don't hear everyone throwing such a tizzy over Oprah and her viocing her views. You go Ellen and Sharon.

get over it! I'll take your 4 tickets to see Ellen, are you stupid or something? It was just someones opinion, just like yours!

Hi Ellen,
First I disagree with the politcal comments that were posted here. I'm not disappointed in you or your show, it's election time, that's what's in the news & everyone is intitled to there opinion!

Now about the animals in Iraq, this is a good thing! Those pets deserve a chance for a good decent life. You are a huge animal lover like myself! I'm a volunteer with 2 organizations in Tampa, Fl. The Humane Society of Tampabay (A NO Kill Shelter)& The Animal Coalition of Tampa. I also do a rescue from my home, in which I pay all expenses & adopt the pets out to loving homes for free! I own 7 dogs & 7 cats plus a cockatiel all rescues. There's a fundraiser going on now for The Animal Coalition, "Stride for the Strays" Last year I raised $1,000. on my own, this year I only have $10.00 rasied online?? It's sad & I'm one of those ones that's now unemployed myself so even though I understand, I still gave $100.00 to this low cost/free clinic. Anyone else care to help, my deadline is Oct9th to turn in donations? www.firstgiving.com/darlenemasone

Hi Ellen,

First of all, I want to say "Thanks for making life happy". I am from Port Neches, Texas and yes, we were hit from Hurricane Ike. Fortunately, my home didn't sustain any major damage, I did have minor damage but there are many people who lost everything from Bridge City, Tx; Port Boliver, Tx; Gilcrest, Tx; Galveston, Tx; Orange, Tx; High Island, Tx and Winnie, Tx, Beaumont, Tx and Houston, Tx....just to name a few areas. There are many people who have no food, no homes, nothing!!! FEMA and the government have actully helped very few people and people are being turned down left and right for disaster food stamps and help with living expenses because of income guidelines. These people really have no where to turn. Some lost pets, friends and family members. Some lost EVERYTHING!!! I would think that there would be more help out there for all of us??? Do you know of any?

Thanks,
Hope

Hi Ellen:
I am writing to tell you about the devastion that Hurricane Ike had on the East Texas Gulf Coast. The storm serge was the highest recorded in history in this area, and there is not any national news attention for these poor homeless people. People in Crystal Beach, Texas, Gilcrest, Tx, Sabine Pass, Texas, Bridge City, Tx, Ananhuac, Tx, they have lost EVERYTHING--THEY HAVE NO PLACE TO LIVE, NO CLOTHES, SOME HAVE NO FOOD NOR WATER---FEMA IS GOING TO THE WRONG PLACES! I want so despartely to help, I thought you would want to know too. I have numerous pictures that I can send.
Thank You.

I live in australia and I love animals (we had a cat and a dog back home in england, but we decided that we couldn't put them through the stress of a 24 hour plane flight so we rehomed them). It makes me sad to her about all those animals in cages and dogs in iraq, I just hope we can save these animals and give then a loving home where they will have people who care for them.

To all those who feel the need to express their extreme disapproval at Ellen, for allowing Sharon Osbourne to speak an obvious truth that the rest of the world already knows, you might be interested in some verified quotes from the woman you feel has been so hard done by.

Keep in mind, as you're reading the ideology of this self-proclaimed hockey mom in her own words, that if John McCain (a man not in the greatest health) is somehow elected as the next President of the United States, the person taking his place as leader of the free world should his health fail, does herself not believe in or wish you to follow the true nature of freedom as such.

So, before you condemn Ellen, or Sharon Osbourne, think hard about who and what Sarah Palin is really all about.

The United States of America needs to gain its R.E.S.P.E.C.T back as a world leader and compassionate power, and Sarah Palin is definitely NOT the way to go about it.

"Here in Alaska, we don't have hardly any black people, I never talk to them, so I was
surprised that a black girl beat me in the 1984 Miss Alaska pageant."

********We, as voters are considered to be adults. As adults we need to look at this logically and use a little common sense.

#1 Some people in this world are gay. People have protested, threatened, beat, and even killed some of the gays, and they are still here. What that means is that they are not going away. In fact they are our
neighbors, doctors, nurses, teachers, florists, friends, and family members. They are good to keep around. Look what happened when we denied rights to the Indians = CASINOS, with all the Gay lawyers God know what they will get.

#2 Let God play GOD. God gave us enough to worry about with cancer. This is a no brainer and I am all about passing the buck on this one. All the more for us. Can you say hetero fast pass to heaven??

I am voting NO on prop 8. It is the smart thing to do.*********

I am with you dude. Trust in God and let the queers marry.

I need a buddy!!! Soooo cute!! Kissy kissy kissy!!!! whoof whoof! Bow wow wow yippee Yo Yippee YaY! Who let the dogs out!! bow wow wow yippee ki yay!

after I feel more financially secure. Most definately!

Homeless people have dogs but I don't want to be one of 'em. I wondered about that day before yesterday as I drove past a homeless guy and his dog. I thought... poor dog. How did he get a dog? Is someone looking out for the wellfare of that dog?? Sure he needs a companion.. needs love too.. a buddy... but its hard to see a dog out.. its going to get colder soon and I am thinking about the dog. The man can do something about it... get a job.. it can be done if he really wants. I know..the dog on the other hand can't. The dog is totally dependent on him for food and shelter. That's why I wonder why he got a dog. The humane society wouldn't approve the adoption. My humane society does in house visits. So the only way I can see he got a dog is that he's really not homeless and the dog is a ploy to get more money on the corner. If he wasn't making money he wouldn't continue standing on the corner so he has to making some. I hear upwards to 4 grand.. rumor?? who knows.. so he doesn't get a job... McDonalds doesn't pay that much. Its hard. What was that show.. living on part time wages.. 5.50 an hour.. bad. Where was I? And the other is that the dog the homeless guy had a rope around its neck was a stray. Either case its sad. welfare for the dog vs companion for the guy. So you think.. or I do that Spca police take dogs away from owners all the time as they are looking out for the best interest of the dog so that in mind.... being hard to take away from a man that doesn't have hardly anything but the clothes on his back the love of his life... is a hard thing to do... This is what I struggle with in my mind as I still think about this... two days after seeing this cute eyed lovely dog with a rope around its neck on the corner with its "homeless" owner.(seems to be homeless???)

I agree with the number of comments over your giving Sharon Osborne a no-body with her only claim to fame was being married to that absured husband of hers the opportunity to rant against Sarah Palin.
As I believe she is not even an American but is only glad to accept the lifestyle the USA has given her.
My wife an I are Canadians who "HAD" been fans of your show.

Hi Ellen and staff,
Why oh why did you ruin your show by getting into ugly politics and celebrity grandstanding on the politicians. UGH! We are all so sick and tired of the nonstop political banter and hatred on television. Your show was the one place that my family felt we could get away from it all.I am dissapointed. I actually have 4 tickets to your show tomorrow (9/25) and have looked forward to attending with my best friend and our two teenage sons.I am not that excited about it anymore.I fear there will be more of the same old Hollywood politicical grandstanding.
You know the same could be said about Barak Obama.....who was he a year and a half ago? Did they just scour the nation looking for a black man to run?
Just stop it please.
A dissapointed viewer,
Lynette Ashman

Hi Ellen,

I watched your show with Sharon Osbourne, and was extremely disappointed. Our entire family are fans and I always appreciated how you kept overt politics out of your show. It was always fun regardless of one's political orientation. In fact, my daughter did a project about you, praising your philanthropy and kindness toward animals.

However today, I feel you were complicit in Sharon's extremely ignorant and biased rant about Sarah Palin. Sure, she is a guest and she has he own views, but you knew what she was going to say based on your lead in, and you also did the get-out-the-vote shtick before and after her rant. It is obvious you gave her a sounding board to spew her demeaning comments about a governor with a real track record. In fact, the same 2 years as governor experience as Teddy Roosevelt had prior to his presidency.

I do not hope to sway your political views, as I hope you do not force me to choke on Brit Sharon Osbourne's ignorant comments as I try to enjoy your show. You have succumbed to the wave of media piling-on to Governor Palin. Please keep your overt partisanship to yourself, or risk alienating your audience on this show as you did on your first one.

i live in australia and i love animals it is so sad when i hear about all those animals in cages and dogs in iraq i just hope we can save these animals and give them a wonderful loving home were they will have people to care for them..
