Let's shall we forget the legal side of this issue. Which I understand is a difficult choice. Put it aside for a momemt, is all I ask.

To watch both Ellen and Portia, look at one another, you can feel the love and the way they adore one another.

As a reborn Christian, I can honestly say in my heart of hearts, that I will see both Mrs. Degeneres, and Mrs. Rossi when I reach the pearly gates. Not because of whom they loved, but because of who they were.

You Mrs. Degeneres are an example for all of those who, like myself, will find love, albeit with a man, I can only ask God that he can look at me the way you look at Portia.

This is a fight worth fighting. ---- MLK

i think gay marriage should be allowed. i would love to have a legally binding partnership with my girl. However, how is anybody spose to take gays seriously when we parade around like homosexuality is a circus act. Im from australia, our pollies wont take us seriously here AT ALL. and do you blame them. My family, we steer clear from the stereotypes, we just want to live...
Congrats Ellen...

hey guys its Robin, again (see my postes on pg. 10 and 11) Look i am trying to start a group that is for kids. its all about descrimination so if you would like to help or comment e-mail me at robins_nest411@yahoo.com

I am in the U.s Military.I highly believe that if I can serve my country ,and Pay taxes that I have the right to Marry who I Love. Which is a woman. But in order for us to countinue this journey to equality we must stand together as a united community with our friends ,and loved saying "We are here,we are gay, and we are here to stay"

I am not gay. I am straight, what ever that is suppossed to mean! I have been married 2 times. Along the way it has occured to me that marriage is by definition a religious ceremony. What about the seperation of chirch and State? The laws we have for marriage, are intermingeling with the historicly religious contract of marriage. Here is my idea. If you want to be married. then go about what ever ceremony you select. BUT have the laws Nation wide, changed to accept a partnership. Partnerships that have legal bindings and benefits. Partnerships for men and men, women and women, and men and women. one law to protect all that have a Partnership. Why is it if my spouse leaves me in Florida, my rights as the partner should be different than if left in Colorado, or Idaho? Change it ALL.

I feel as though many Amercans are stuck in an old way of thinking. Like Ellen said back in the day woman couldnt vote and blacks count vote but now they have "EARNED" that right so what do homosexuals need to do to "EARN" the right to be treated equally?? Yes our counrty was founded many years ago and in 200 yrs we are so behind other countries. We are so afriad of change, come on a woman as present wow Nicaragua had one and look at England a woman has been in power for years!! Religion does have alot to do in the polical world its in the bible but thats besides the point of what should be right or wrong.....what is right is equality amonung all of us. Im in the military and yet its a dont ask dont tell. I feel that should not be right. If the person has the right to fight for their country they should have the right to express who they are and how they feel.

Ellen - thank you for doing this show. As a gay man concerned about the basic freedom to marry my partner of 15 years, I had already decided to vote for Obama who I think holds the concept of equality closer to his heart. It's a shame that even a war hero like McCain can't stand up for the rights of ALL Americans. It saddens me to think that a country founded on principles of equality for all is still - after more than 200 years - struggling with the concept. I hope I will live to see the day when all Americans can safely say that freedom and justice exists for us all without regard to the individual differences that define us as one diverse yet united community. Peace to you and the love you have found.

I thought that the bible says love thy neighbor as theyself..... Our founding fathers NEVER said that this country needs to be ran by religion... or ANYONES RELIGIOUS beliefs. LOve is not something that ONLY belongs to a man and a women... it is something that ALL human beings feel. Although I am not a homosexual I still believe that ALL of us have the right to choose who we love. NOT the bible! I wish you the best of luck in your new journey in life Ellen and Portia

Thank you Ellen, you are so awesome. I agree with you about gay marriage. I think it is absolutely absurd to put limits on marriage for ANYONE. The thing that really got me excited was the comment you made about women not getting the right to vote until the 1920's. I hope all women realize how hard the suffragists fought for this right, and take full advantage of it now. Women have to make their voices heard, especially during an election like this! Thanks again,
Love,
Lisa Frank

There is NO SANCTITY in Marriage with heterosexuals these days, so why try to act like it's this sacred ritual? Let's look at the adultery rate amongst heterosexual marriages? Let's look at the divorce rate! Nobody takes marriage seriously these days because it is so EASY to give up on it & get a divorce (especially now that Catholics have decided that people won't go to hell over it afterall...how convenient). RELIGION is an issue....people will kill and hate in the name of it & it is tearing Nations apart. People use religion to whatever their advantage may be...and of course, you can twist and turn it however you want since it is only based on beliefs and faith...not facts.

All people were created EQUAL...period...and should be treated as so. I am a Veteran & that is what I fought for...that is what America is supposed to be about. How many of you would be stunned to know that our government voted on a bill last year to make it ILLEGAL for black people and white people to marry??? This bill actually made it before congress!!!!!!!! Shocking? Someday people will be just as shocked to learn that we were once so ignorant about gay people.

Don't try to be a fan of Ellen & say how much you "love" her & yet think of her as a second-class citizen who is not as good as you & does not deserve the same out of life...just because of who she loves. It's just the same as saying..."I love Ellen...she's so funny, and caring, and compassionate....for a gay person!"

Hey Ellen. I have to agree with Kim who wrote on Sept. 30th. I very much respect you having Sen. McCain on your show and I very much respect him going on your show. I thought he answered your questions about same sex marriage very respectfully to you and to others. I am a believer in marriage only between a man and a woman because that is what the Bible commands and I am a believer in the Bible, the entire Bible. I don't think you can say you believe in the Bible and then take pieces of it and believe it or not believe it. You either believe the entire thing or not at all. I have friends who are homosexuals and I love them no less than any other friend. We respectfully disagree on their choices, but not on our friendship or love of one another.

I do think, as Kim said, you are taking your show in a different direction. I know things are very personal to you but I loved the show where you were just having fun with the audience and with guests and not making the show have an agenda. I haven't watched as much lately because it is the time I am on the treadmill and I want something that will be light and entertaining and just make me laugh. Your show does not do that so much anymore. I do hope you return to your old format. You were my favorite! I want that ole favorite back again!

Thanks Ellen, for taking the time to read these posts and for allowing us access to chat with you.

Congradulations on ur wedding Ellen its about time someone did something about it.... I totally agree with u on the issue of Gay Marriage!!!

Hi Ellen:

I am just in the process of "coming out." It is such a difficult thing to go through but I've found the woman of my dreams and I could not be more happy. You have been one of my biggest inspirations. Thank you! Peace, Courtney

Ellen...you are an inspiration to anyone! It seems ironic when we live in a world when religious views make people so so hostile. Sometimes I wish I were an animal, but, anyway, I just want to let you know that I am so happy for you and Portia!

I enjoyed watching your show. God love us no matter who we are. I believe you should be able to love the person that you want to spend your life with.

I SUPPORT GAY MARRIAGE ALL THE WAY

GO OBAMA 08

Ellen:

I have the belief that the sanctity of marriage should be exclusively between a man and woman. I have an uncle who is homosexual and he's one of the best human beings I know. My mind is definitely open to everyone having the right to love who they wish and be lifetime partners with anyone they wish. For me, it's not a matter of thinking homosexuals couples are less valuable than heterosexual couples. I just hold the traditional belief that "marriage" should remain exclusively between a man and a woman.

I do, however, wish you and your wife many beautiful years together.

And I do give Senator McCain credit for coming on your show. I felt he was very respectful to you. You were respectful also, but your tone came across a little "punchy".

I think your show is taking a different tone now Ellen. I think you need to step back and realize you will NEVER convince everyone to embrace gay marraige. Millions of us disagree with you, but still love to watch your show.

Your show used to be without the chaos of current events. Rosie also used to have a show without the stress of current events. I used to LOVE Rosie too. But then Rosie went off the deep end over gun control, etc. She went overboard and she lost her appeal. Don't be another Rosie, Ellen.

Again, you will never convince everyone. It's clear where you stand. No need to rub America's nose in it. Enough, please.

Congratulations Ellen and Portia, and thankyou for sharing your special day with us all. We hope to see you in Australia soon!

True humanity sees no conditions on Love, his discomfort with the conversation showed a human that does not know true humanity.

McCain is a douche bag! You're awesome Ellen! Thank you for standing up for people like us! You are our voice.

Dear Ellen,
I am writing you requesting help for victims of Hurricane Ike.Please do anything you can to help us.On 5-27-07 a bill passed that alotted 6.4 Billion dollars for gulf coast hurricane recovery and 3 Billion for emergency draught and natural disaster relief for farmers. Why can't this money be used to help victims immediately? People on the gulfcoast need help now. People have no homes to live in and not much help if any from the government. If the had the $2000 expidited assistance they could at least rent a house. You have the power and resources to help victims. These are your people who are suffering and noone is helping them. Many promises are being made by Kevin Brady, Ted Poe, and Kay Bailey Hutchinson but no action. Please act now and do anything that you can to help victims of Hurricane Ike.I have attached a copy of the letter that I sent to my local, state, and government officials. Please email me back and let me know if there is anything you can do to help. Thank You, Angel McCroskey
FEMA announced at a Tuesday press release that there would be no $2000 expedited assistance but will pay for hotels between Sept.15 and Oct 15 if the hotel is participating in the program. FEMA will not reimburse applicants for prevously incurred hotel expenses. Currently participating hotels are booked solid. In the aftermath of Hurricane Ike I find it unbelievable that there is such a lack of help for victims of Hurricane Ike. Alot of people did not evacuate for the storm due to lack of money and lack of hotel vacancies. Some of these people paid with their lives. On TV and in our neighborhoods in southeast texas you see homes destroyed, people missing,no gas,no electricity,no food,no water. It really makes me wonder why our government and people who could afford to help Texas have not done so. I have heard no announcement of Brad Pitt coming to rebuild Galveston like he did in New Orleans. Nor have I heard of Barbra Streisand announcing that she will be singing to help raise money for disaster areas in Texas like she raised millions this week for a Presidental canidate.Even though it seems Texas has been forgotten I know that we will do what we did after Hurricane Rita and pull together and help eachother.I can only hope that when election day comes you all remember the local, state and government officials that helped you during Hurricane Ike. But also remember the ones who did not.
