It's nice to see that someone who is heard (Ellen) has at least posted a link for donations for Ike related damage. Albeit through the Red Cross, at least it's there. We may not be getting the coverage and help that Katrina people got but at least it's SOMETHING. WE ARE TEXANS after all - we will make it! Except here in Houston - alot of the people getting the aid and help are here from Katrina...they are getting it double - and some of the people from Galveston, Houston, and coastal communities who got hit the hardest have to WAIT 10 days to see if they qualify for help. Something about the syatem is messed up! Katrina was 3 years ago - move on - there are others that need your FEMA trailer now.

I would like to thank you for posting a spot to help the people affected by Hurricane Ike. I am a resident of one of the areas that took a hard blow,(NOT GALVESTON OR HOUSTON). There a many, many small towns of the Gulfcoast that have been devastated by this Hurricane. I live in Bacliff, Texas, and our sister town of San Leon was hit quite hard by this disaster, homes are gone, half there, most of the town was affected by the storm surge, and got water in their homes. This is not what you would call an affluent neighborhood, but the people are good, hard working people and would like the same respect and acknowledgement shown by the entire country that was shown to people that survived Katrina. This storm not only affected Texas it affected people in Kentucky, Ohio, Connecticut and other areas. All that we are asking for is to not be ignored by the people of the of this WONDERFUL NATION. We are hurting and we are mad and we are sad but we will one day be happy again.
Thank You
Teresa L.

Hello Ellen, I absolutely love your show but because I work full time I don't always get to watch it. I am trying to figure out how to get reimbursed for the $300 in food that we lost in the "hurricane" that came through ohio. I have 4 teenage boys and they eat me out of house and home not counting my husband. Now my car is acting up and I need new tires. This is so bad. I was just wondering if you could suggest some organization here in ohio that could possibly help us. Please please advise. I LOVE U!!!!!!! Thank you for your time.

Nine days without power due to Ike, finally got power restored Sunday evening. I am bummed because I was unable to watch your shows last week. What did I miss? Your show is my "daily delight" I can always count on you to put a smile on my face and believe me we could all use that during these trying times.

you must not forget about the animals that are here in louisiana the no kill shelters are so overcrowded that they are not taking in any animals. I found 4 puppies after gustav and the shelters are telling me to just call animal control and put them to sleep. I don't have the heart to do it but it may be my only option. I have even placed ads for free puppies but no one wants them. There has to be some solution or maybe shelters in other states who can yake some of these poor helpless animals.

Hi ellen i want you to know what a wonderful inspiration you are to me.

Ellen i hope you personally get to read this,I am writing on the behalf of my family.
To start off hurricane gustave hit our parish(terrebonne)directly sept 1st and than following Ike pass through the gulf of mexico and louisiana coast bringing in over 10 feet of water to dulac,la.Which thats what i am writing you for help.
Both storms put my grandparents through substantial damage.IKE leaving them nothing to go home to.They both are hard working, caring and giving people. My granmother is 62 works two jobs 40 plus hours a week, she desreves help in return for all what she done for everyone. Its hard to see her struggle through the pain and loose everything she ever worked for and get it taking away.My grandfather is 62 also but 4 months ago he had a triple bi-pass which nearly almost lost his life.So he cant work anymore, that means my grandmother has to work longer and harder in order to pay their bills and survive!!
They are currently living at my aunts house which everyone knows there is no place like home, but they have no home.MY grandparents are too old to go and move and rebuild and put themsleves in a finacial disaster. S o unfortunetly they have to try to rebuild their home. But dont have the time and money.I have never seen my grandma cry in front of me and two nihgts ago she did, she is so stress and hurt of all her loss. and it hurts me even more so im looking for help for them.
ELLEN, if you know of anyone willing to give a helping hand with anything we willing to take it.
My grandparents need everything new in the inside including gutting their walls out to appliances furniture and ect.MY grandparents are williness people so they would take any kind of help.they just need to go back home and continue to live thier lives.they made it through these two but dont know what will happen for another one

Ellen, PLEASE SEND THEM HELP!!!!

Dear Ellen,

I am writing to you on behalf of my children and their friends. We live in Spring, Texas, just north of Houston, and for the past week our lives have been consumed by Hurricane Ike. Schools have been closed since last Friday, but the minds of these kids have been working harder than ever. Our neighborhood and surrounding areas sustained quite a bit of damage from this storm, but nothing like the areas closer to and including Galveston Island. Now that the hurricane is over and the devastating effects of Ike are being revealed these kids have realized how lucky we were, and for the past two days have been focused on finding a way to help those who were not as lucky as us. First, the girls decided to make necklaces and bracelets to sell to raise money that they would donate to the Red Cross. After each of them went home and gathered their supplies they sat outside and went to work. It wasn't long before a few boys joined them. By the end of this jewelry making session they had decided to have their sale the next day, today. This morning they got up and passed out flyers to advertise the event, made posters, set up a tent, and sold their precious pieces, popcorn and lemonade raising $226.50. A portion of the proceeds were used to buy icecream that the kids passed out to friends and neighbors who are still without power ~ I can't and don't even want to imagine what it is like to be without electricity for five days, we were only without it for two days and I didn't think I would last another second! ~ the rest of the money is going to the Red Cross. At the end of the day, even though you could tell how tired they were just by looking at them, every single one of these children couldn't wait to do it again.

As if this special story isn't enough and it would have been shared with you regardless, these fabulous kids and their wonderful moms (Is it tacky to include myself in this compliment? If so, I was only talking about the other moms) have thought of more ways to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Ike and want to ask for your help. Here is what we are thinking: The kids (with a little help from the previously mentioned moms) have come up with names for themselves, the girls are THE PINK CROSS (and have even made up a cheer that I am positive they would be happy to do for you) and the boys are THE CAMO CORPS (they don't have a cheer but if they did I know they would do it for you too) divisions of the KRE - Kids Relief Effort. Pretty creative don't you think? Now for the plan: First, they want to make and sell more necklaces but stick with only two designs, a silver chain with a pink cross charm and a silver military style chain with a camo dog tag. Second, they would like to sell t-shirts, designs to be determined.

This is where we need your help. You alone have way more contacts than all of us combined and we definitely don't have "people" to make any calls for us. Can you help us by sharing some of your contacts who you think would be willing to work with us on this project? Maybe you could even sell our stuff on your website.

I apologize for the length of this email, I tried my best to leave out the "fluff" and stick to the facts. Thank you for even reading it ~ I am assuming you read it since this is the end. I look forward to your response!

Sincerely,
Aimee

PS~I wrote this yesterday so the days of these events are really yesterday and the day before.

Ellen,
I think it's a great thing that you are doing! My mom loves your show (as do I) and after everything that they have been through with this storm I know my mom is itching to watch your show. My parents lost their home b/c of the storm. They had TWO trees fall on their house. My mom was sitting in the living room when the first tree came crashing in. But thank God that she was not hurt. My parents can no longer live there anymore so right now my mom's spirit is low, but I'm glad to know that when she turns on the television and watches your show that it will put a smile on her face. You really are a GREAT PERSON!!!!

Thank you for posting the American Red Cross information Ellen. I'm one of the fortunate ones...I still have a house, my power is back on, and my entire family is safe. Unfortunately, there are many counties that have been devastated along the Texas Gulf Coast. Although we know how to pull up our boot straps in Texas, and put things back together, I'm sure we could use the extra help.

Thanks again.

Hey Ellen, I think you're great..I love your show...and everything you do to help others. I am asking for help, If by any chance you may know someone who wants to help victims of Hurricane Ike PLEASE,PLEASE, Give them my name..MY parents LOST a lot due to flooding..They live in DULAC,Louisiana (Terrebonne Parish) which is about one hour south-west of New Orleans. My parents are in there sixties, My mom is very hardworking and always has been, she works as much as she can to pay bills and have a decent living. My dad was working up until April Of this year 2008 He had open Heart surgery,,really serious the doctor basically saved his life..and they don't ask for much they are pretty simple people..This is the second time they flood..the first time was for Hurricane Rita...and it was My Grandpaws house at that time he was still living..He died April 2006, and willed the house to my mom. MY parents are good people and I hate to see them so stressed and so hurt..MY parents could use a washer,a dryer, refrigerator, stove, new cabinets new floors, funiture, new panneling...really anything and everything you need to furnish your house..but really ellen any thing any one would do to help would really be appriciated and my mom and dad really deserves a break...Thanks agine Ellen for putting a smile on My face everymorning..Thank You..Thanks.

Ellen,
I know you were very involved in Hurricane Katrina and the rebuilding of New Orleans. You had the Make it Right limited edition Ellen shirts. Any chance of something similar for Hurricane Ike?

Being one of the fortunate to have power and internet access in Houston has inspired me to add to the others who wonder where is the love and support from across the country that we (Houstonians) shared with Katrina and Rita victims? All we have on TV is Ike coverage and I am curious if there is the same celebrity response that Katrina received? Our storm damage was far more wide-spread as this hurricane was of such massive size and it would be great to focus on what needs to be done now in southeast Texas instead of constantly hearing the comparisons to Katrina (where we still house many Katrina survivors). Locally, a hurricane relief fund has already begun sponsored by KHOU TV and Randall's food markets where victims are encouraged to donate to help victims. I think that speaks volumes for the generosity of Texans that even in our own times of need we help each other. I am hoping that at some point we can get the attention that Katrina got because we are hurting, too. I know we can count on you to get the word out. Thanks, Ellen and I can't wait until we resume regular programming!

Ellen: very unhappy with u thought that maybe u would help one of your gay friends out your totally not the person i thought u were. i had e-mailed u awhile back with my e-mail address and phone number and didn't even respond. very dissappointed in u.

I live in Houston, Texas and regular network TV has been pre-empted by news coverage of Ike for almost a week now. I love your show and would really like a break from the constant footage of the devestation caused by Ike. We could all use a laugh here. Thanks for sharing the clips on the website. They help a lot. We miss you, Ellen!

Dear Ellen, I have never done this blogging stuff, but I am having a real desire to try and help the people in TX. Then I get on this web site and I read the blog from Rebeccca Alaniz (poor thing is in a real tizzy she can't even spell or name right) and her little preemie baby. I have a 28ft RV which I can drive. The only slight problem is I am currently unemployed so buying gas for the rig is a problem. Please let me know if I can help in any way.
Thanks, Pam Mac

Ellen, I know you share a love of animals with so many of your viewers. This morning I read about the abuse of pigs by the Mowmar LLP of Fairmont MN. CNN also did a piece on this and Peta is also involved. You reach so many people each day. Would you please talk to your viewers about this. I know if the companies realize they can not get away with this they will do more to control the sadistic abuse that these workers are inflicting on these poor defenseless animals. Thank you.

Now that Tony is back, what happens with Stryker?

Ellen:

I miss your show! I waited as patiently as possible all summer for your new episodes and now it hasnt been on for a week because of hurricane ike coverage. Dont get me wrong i understand the importance and significance of this storm, but after seeing the devastation over and over again I know we could all use a little comic relief. Im ready to gain some normalcy back! I never miss an episode, but this is a little out of my control. Now that we got power and interent back i tried catching up on the videos. Please reshow these episodes first when you dont have a new episode to air. Thank you Ellen!

Liz

Dear Ellen-

My name is Elizabeth and I absolutely love your show! You always make me laugh and smile!! I live in Dickinson, Tx which is between Galveston and Houston. It is devastating here. Seeing the damage and losses is heartwrenching. Fortunatly, my home was not damaged badly. Please continue to pray and get the word out for Texas. So many people dont have a home, ice, food, water,or power. We are still without power at my home so my family and i am staying at my boyfriends. i just keep praying for everyone. One thing is with the news coverage we are unable to watch Ellen! The one thing that can get our spirits up. Could you put episodes online for us to enjoy? We need normalcy here and we don't get it without our daily laughs to uplift us!

Thank you and God Bless
Elizabeth
