Dalton is amazing. For any of you that haven't seen his key note speach you MUST watch it. He is inspirational and his positivie attitude about our educational system is amazing! I work for DallasISD and couldn't prouder of him. He has represented us well!
i think this kid is the next obama.....he is so,so smart at 10.. god bless him and who-ever is taking care of him....
I was so bummed that I missed Dalton on the show. I live in Michigan and a co-worker emailed me his speach. It gave me chills as I am a teacher that does BELIEVE! Dalton, you are a remarkable young man and thank you for believing in your teachers as well as appreciating what they do. If only our legislatures believed as we do!
Singing
**I don't believe in Elvis
I don't believe in Zimmerman
I don't believe in Beatles
I just believe in me.***
Improvising
**I don't believe in the lack of education here.**
It is my belief and I am sticking to it,
Henry
I believe! I believe now more than ever that the work we do as educators in the public educational system is the most rewarding job anyone can do. Believing helps me to focus on what really matters and to get past the sarcasm, criticism, ignorance of some and proudly believe in the mission of our district; "to help every child to graduate college and workforce ready" I believe in my district, my colleges, my leadership and most of all our children in DALLAS ISD.
(Rene,
64 millions in the "whole"? The 64 million issue will be fixed, but that doesn't change the fact that we believe in our children, and yes unfortunately some teachers and staff members (hopefully the ones that don't believe) will lose their jobs, but once again it doesn't change what really matters "OUR Believe in our children". Think positive and don't spoil such a wonderful and inspirational moment with bitterness and negativism.)
What an amazing speaker…at such a young age! Great job Dalton! I'm a motivational speaker myself, leading Dream List workshops for kids. I teach kids how to break their big dreams into smaller goals that they can start achieving now. I use a lot of kid success stories in the workshops, so this will be a great example to use. Thank you Ellen for providing positive and inspirational stories!
Here's to Ellen's best and brightest!
Singing **"There's a hole in the bucket dear Liza, dear Liza. There's a hole in the bucket dear Liza, a hole."**
Henry
*remembering why I no longer watch Ellen religiously*
Many teachers believe in our students just like Dalton said. I was one of many Dallas ISD teachers who was forced to attend the event but Dalton's speech made it okay. I just hope that when Dalton goes back to school Charles Rice Learning Center still has a librarian and counselor because of our issues with funding this year....if you don't know it Dallas ISD is 64million in the whole and these same people who cheered and clapped for his speech may not even have a job by Sept. 30th of this year...how sad.
Oh, too funny. I had no idea that Ellen drew in such a crazy crowd. The first lame attempt at a comeback made absolutely NO sense. Suggesting my quality of life couldn't compare to Ellen's. Huh? And, jealous...??? I said she ROCKS and to lay off her, with all the negative comments. Are you on crack or just stupid? I love Ellen and love not to capitalize the first letter of her name, or the beginning of a sentence...! ellen, ellen, ellen!!! love it! defensive, bored, insecure, anal-retentive housewives on here, or what??
Wow heidi.....that is how YOU spell your name? Were you looking in the mirror when the words 'haggard' & 'mature'...I mean immature came to mind?!!!!! I'd be willing to bet that you are no prize and I'm certain you don't have half the quality of life Ellen does. Don't be jealous! Be happy for those who have accomplished greatness in their life. You should try watching Dr. Phil instead......I think he can meet your needs.
Haggard? mature? At her prime? Who are you people? Don't you have anything positive to say! Lay off ellen, she rocks! And, please...Learn proper grammar and correct punctuation before you begin posting comments! peace out...
================================================
Heidi, I think you need to look at your own punctuation and grammar prior to posting. For example, ellen is Ellen; sentences must begin with a capital letter; repeated punctuation marks are improper. I am sorry, when I read your post you discredited yourself by your own words.
Hoping but not hopeful for a better world,
Jade
Dalton Sherman is such a great inspiration and motivation for teachers and those studying to become teachers. My professor gave us a link to watch Dalton's speech on-line and then we had a discussion about it. We were all so blown away by the intensity that he expressed. As future teachers we all agree that we MUST believe in all of our students if we want them to succeed. Even if what they do or want to become might seem outrageous, as educators we must never allow ourselves to become the brick wall that impedes our students from following their dreams. Kudos and a round of applause to those teachers who strive to inculcate such beliefs in their classroom.
This makes me proud to be a teacher. Its sad that our society values sports athletes and celebrities more then they do America's Teachers. Ellen you are doing a wonderful thing by making so many everyday people have a voice. My mom and I love you.

Dear Ellen, I wanted you to know that you were my 'Saving Grace' during a horrible time in my life, and I would like to THANK YOU for that.I was with a man who had me locked in motel rooms and the only thing I had was the T.V.and I becme consumed with it. You made me laugh when all I wanted to do was cry.Several things happen during that time, things I did not want my 4 children or my 2 sisters to know so I did not contact them for about 2 years. Now that I am away from him my life has become okay and I am living with my sister in San Marcos,Texas and just spent 3 weeks with my 4 children and8 grandchildren.Your new season is great and each day I look forward in watching your show and wanting to Thank You.Congradulations on your marrige.
Sincerely,Wanda
