Ellen-

This is fantastic! I think it is great that the private sector can help out fellow citizens.

I also want to point out that many American Indain reservations are in much worse condition than New Orleans. Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in S. Dakota, is POOREST county in the nation. My husband's family lives there and he understands the poverty they are faced with everyday. I heard about a project that some college students did for a single mother who lives in Navajo Nation. She and her mother and two children lived in a 150 foot shed (YES, right here in America). These students built her a home. The conditions are far worse than "tent city" that was built for Katrina victims. Many Indian people do not have electricity or running water. President Bush did sign a bill that will release billions of dollars to help some of the reservations so at least our govt will be doing something.

Ellen - I joined 16 others from St. Louis on a mission trip Aug 18-22 to New Orleans - boy, can I ever tape, mud and sand corners on walls now!!. We stayed in the 9th ward and worked on a house in the 7th. Even three years after the levy breaks, seeing all the stores closed, houses still boarded up, or neighborhood lots full of weeds where houses once stood, made my heart break. The following week during the anniversary of Katrina I heard newscasters speaking encouragingly about how far NOLA had come, how so many people were back, how things were going so well - if I didn't know better, I'd have thought they were talking about a different New Orleans! It's not a rosy picture in many places - and it'll take you, me, and others to continue telling the story and pushing for more private and public help for the City and her residents - for years to come! Thanks for all you do.

I have just sponsered a house in my mothers name to be built. I ask that all of us who have lost someone dear to go and donate to my house. I named it Mary M Barron and Angels. She is my angel and I know alot of you have special angels. Go the the Make it Right Foundations web site choose sponsered homes. Then donate 5 dollars or what ever you like. Donate a tree there are different things to donate. It will be in memory of your Special Angel and my mother who my Special Angel. Thanks Patricia Cuadras

Never Give UP!!!! I heard some will not return. They are tired of packing up and running for higher ground. Maybe I'd feel the same way. Its taxing... emotionally ... spiritually... and phsyically.

New Orleans is a place. The people are New Orleans... if the people leave ... then the city dies.

Fight..stay.. believe.

Their are people willing to help.. be there for you!!! Brad, Ellen's viewers, God(hard to believe.. but he's always there) Never give up.

maybe someday we can fight Hurricanes scientifically by blasting them with whatever it is.. hot/cold that slows 'em down! It would take a big blower but never say never!

but rebuilding New Orleans is a lost cause. It's below sea level and will be devastated by hurricanes many more times. Move the people out and give it back to the river

This came to my mind too a couple of days ago. I think you are right. Just find a way to protect the oil area and let New Orleans go, just move everyone futher inland. It does seem a waste of money being pumped into a fragile area.

I love your show, but rebuilding New Orleans is a lost cause. It's below sea level and will be devastated by hurricanes many more times. Move the people out and give it back to the river. The same is going to have to be done to beaches - no more renourishment. Mother nature has the upper hand, and there are many places to live that are safer and would not have to be rebuilt over and over.

Dear Dottie Dearest,
There is a new waiter at the Fly By Cafe located on the second floor of the Mercer Terminal of the St. Augustine airport. He looks enough like John Travolta to to be his identical twin, but this
guy is thirty-three years old today. Sorry, ewe were not there. I had a real breakfast and only two
cigarettes out of my usual bowl full. Hope to see ewe soon, we really need to talk about that child on the cover of the September Reader's Digest.
Forever, Sphoon

PLEASE HELP ME!! Hi Ellen!I'm 19 years, I have a 1year old son named Julian.I moved to Texas with the father of my son and my son.We moved from Chicago, but the main reason we moved was because of all the gang violence that was in our neighborhood. I was scared for my childs safety as well as my boyfriends because he was in the gang. Then he left it for us and moved far from it all. BUT i don't like it here because it's really hard for me to get a job. Its hard because we don't have a car to go ANYWHERE!! my son is burned from the sun from us having to walk to the store to get the groceries we need. It's a pretty far distance and i can't take it anymore! It's too hot to walk with a one year old. :( my boyfriend works really hard to provide for us and i feel really bad. i want to go back to school but i have no transportation. I also don't have transportation to take Julian to any of his doctor apointments. speaking of that he's missing his shots. I'm EMBARASSED asking you for help. But you're really the only one i can turn to. Luv ya Lots!!

What is the total money pledged so far to the Make it Right Foundation?

Ellen,

First of all, I love your show. You always make me laugh so hard, it's the best!

I am writing to ask how to get in touch with Brad Pitt's organization for building homes in New Orleans. I don't live there, but in Pascagoula, Mississippi. We have been sort of left out of the picture of the devastation in other parts of the coast.

I have one of the sad Hurricane stories and we are still camping, waiting on red tape. We just need anyone's help to get it started and any help with some of the costs. We are middle class america who have been left out.

Any information would be appreciated.

Keep up the laughs and keep on dancing!!!!!

Paige Cornelius

Ellen, Thank you. I am huge fan of yours and Jolie-Pitts.

I think some of your fans need some education, so please bear with me :-)

Brad and Bing PLEDGED $5 million EACH!!! Which is $10 million pledged at the CGI conference in NY!

Pledged means, they will meet dollar for dollar everything donated by us up to 10 million of their money!!!!! So, can you please do the math? They already have 66 homes adopted by folks like us or his friends and fans of Ellens etc.... Of course they will build 150 homes and more!

I hope that sort of clarifies some folks confusion.

Many thanks again Ellen for supporting MIR and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Hi Ellen Show! I have another show suggestion, under the category of kids you need to meet. I met her today in a new Imax movie called Hurricane in the Bayou, and then she was actually there in the theatre after the credits ended! Her name is Amanda Shaw. She is an incredible 17-year old from New Orleans. She is a fiddler and one of the "stars" of this terrific movie. The movie started filming before Katrina hit, when Amanda's goal was to bring to the fore the loss of the wetlands at the mouth of the Mississippi, but we witness the devastating storm, and then see the immediate aftermath. Now she is a messenger and ambassador for New Orleans and she is incredibly positive and well-spoken (and very pretty!). I think she would be a perfect guest for Ellen, because it ties in music, kids, New Orleans and the horrific situation that continues there. I know Ellen is very passionate about bringing attention to her hometown. I was inspired by Amanda today. She said "go to New Orleans and inject some tourist dollars into the local economy", but I want to do more than that. I'm going to make plans to go there as soon as I can, to see what I can do to assist in the restoration of that great city. You can see Amanda at amandashaw dot com or officialamandashaw on myspace. Thank you all for considering this! Dan

Thanks so much for not giving up your dream despite the challenges that came your way. You are truly a gem! Kathy Walton P.S. Please consider wearing more color in your on-show wardrobe, it complements your up-beat personality and pizzaz!

Ellen, I see the link now on the right of the screen with Brad's cute face. Sorry I missed it the first time I looked. I hope a lot of people will contribute to this great cause.

Please tell us how to contribute in your name to Brad Pitt's foundation "Make it right". You need to have a link on your website so we can go directly to the correct area. Make it easy for us to contribute in your name for your birthday! Love your show.
