Proposition 8!

This is ridiculous. It doesnt matter what you believe about marriage..this isnt about marriage anymore...it's about love Just like Keith Olberman said, what has been done to the sanctity of marriage since gays and lesbians were allowed to marry? California, Massachusetts? What had changed?!?! Nothing! This was incredibly disheartening.
On the upside, there has been many many protests in California but I would like to let as many people know about this weekend as I can.
November 15th, Saturday, all over the United States, there are going to be portests in many bigger cities. JOINTHEIMPACT.COM has all the states and locations. Get the word out and support LOVE...FOR EVERYONE!!!
Ellen, I know you must struggle everyday since this has passed, only because it just reminds you how the world has not changed enough.
Love to you and Portia-may you be happy together forever and remain MARRIED! You deserve it. :)

hi ellen! im from the philippines and i would like you to know that i never missed any of your shows. even my 4 year old son reminds me when you are on air. my biggest dream is to get to watch you live and see you in person. take care

I do believed marriage is between man and woman, but it's sad that american still practise discrimination espcially in california. What right they have to decide other people right to marry or how they should lead their owned life.In the 1st place there shouldn't be any prop 8.Churches should mind their own business.I'm straight but ellen and portia you should do what is right for you as long as you'er happy. Love your show.(Frankly speaking had not seen a romantic wedding before even the straight one)

Im a life long fan of yours, and I must say i am so incredibly happy to see you so happy and in love! Your wedding pictures are gorgeous!!!
As far as prop 8, theres nothing I can say that hasn't already been said. It bites! However.....
Have a wonderful life together. No one can take away the love that you share!
Congratulations Ellen and Portia!!! May this be the beginning of a long, blissful life together.

Kris

Ellen and Portia
Always remember your wedding day as something special as it should be.The only ones you have to prove your love to is to you and Portia. In Gods'eyes you will always be married.Eventually gay marraiges will be an everyday occurrance just as a black president will be.I wish the best of love and life to you and Portia.
I watch your show almost every day with my children and we adore you..keep up the great shows.
A devoted fan.

Hi Ellen,
I'm sorry about prop 8. I believe you all should be able to marry and suffer just like the rest of us:)))

Ellen,
Is this a free country? Are we free to do anything we want. No. We are not a free country in many ways. You couldn't marry anyone you want to. And that is the way it should be. Have mercy on the followers of Jesus Christ Ellen. This has very little to do with them. It has to do with the their master and Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who said "For this reason, a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall be one flesh". That's all. Please don't blame the followers. This is not a free country. You should go reside in a place where people accept your marriage. I write to you with a humble heart and a love for holiness and purity. God bless you Ellen, Joshua K. Stewart

Dear Ellen,
I have to get something off my mind that has been troubling me about this Prop 8 fiasco. I live in southwestern Wyoming and most of our TV programming comes out of Salt Lake City. There has been much in the news here about Prop 8 and the Morman and Catholic churches' role in supporting it. I realize that as a celebrity, you have to monitor your public comments, but I, for one, am appalled at the role the churches played in this political issue. What ever happened to the separation of church and state? The churches have no business getting involved in such political issues. They can believe what they want to, but they have no right to cram it down our throats. Particularly when it is not an issue in their own state. Mormons in Utah were encouraged to call voters in California and ask them to vote for Prop 8. It's none of their business! Mormons do many good things, but this is just too much. I wholeheartedly support you and believe this is just a bump in the road to equality for ALL. I love you, Ellen. God bless you and Portia.

Ellen,

I'm not sure if you read these, but if you do...

I live in AZ where a similiar law to Prop 8 passed as well. I just would like to say that from the bottom of my heart, I sincerely apologize for the narrow-minded people who cannot see past their own fears and bias to understand that the government does not belong in the bedroom. I'm sorry that our country cannot remember that we were founded on the idea that everyone is equal...not "equal until you want to get married -- then you're different" And I'm sorry that the same people who preach love and acceptance cannot find it in their hearts to realize that, while they don't agree with your lifestyle, they do not have the right try to control who you love and how you live. I feel embarassed that, as a country, we could take such a giant leap forward and show our resounding ignorance at the same time. I have been married for 3 years and cannot even remotely imagine someone trying to take my marriage from me. I'm sorry that even one person feels that they have the right to take that from you.

Ellen and Portia,

I'm from England, where so far it's still legal for us to get married. I was blown away by your beautiful and iconic marriage to Portia. Although I'm not American, I am absolutely apalled and upset by proposition 8 being passed. How dare they! Just remember we are good, honest, beautiful people. You are my idols and you really helped me through my coming out. You stand for everything that is good and right about being gay - so much so that your influence echos right across the atlantic -never forget that. I not only speak for myself but for the millions of fans this side of the pond. Keep on dancing - we love it!! x

Ellen,

I wish you and Portia the best. Believe me no one can take away the memories of your special day. It is very unfortunate that we as a Free Country have so much discrimination that we have to deal with. I know about discrimination, I have a son and a brother that are gay, a granddaughter that is of mixed race. We all tend to take our freedom that we do have for granted. I wish there were a way to make this country be on the same page or atleast in the same chapter, but I dont think that it will happen anytime soon

It just isn't fair to try and harness love like this. It isn't created to be controlled or ordered to stay conditioned and conformed. Love is part of evolution that stems from the map of the human heart as most of develop though the times of our lives, created to be unparalleled and unconditional. I wish for no one to despair over this narrow-minded cause against people of difference to be happy and to be made afraid to speak up against proposition 8. My mother said this to me when I voted against this and was so disappointed of the ban. She said "I would rather lose in a cause that will someday win, than lose in a cause that will someday lose." We must keep fighting for equality, fighting for a love "evolved".

Ellen,

It is very disheartening to learn of the Prop 8 outcome. My husband and I got married in California in September, and it was the happiest day of our lives! What I don't understand is the people who care so much that they want to protect us from ourselves. What right do they have in saying who marrys who. I say no one can tell me that my wedding was not as valid as a straight wedding. My love is just as valid, and just as heartfelt. We have been so blessed and I wish others the opportunity to receive the blessings we felt by getting married in California. Your friends from Florida.

Move to Massachusetts Ellen! Your marriage will be respected here!!

Hi Ellen,

join Melissa Etheridge and refuse to pay taxes, as you are not treated as an equal citizen you do not have to pay your equal share of taxes either.

Do something against this injustice. It is not right that so many people are wronged by public vote!!
