I'm tired of everyone thinking that the people such as myself who would vote yes on proposition 8 (if I lived in CA) are gay-haters. That just is not true. What we do hate, however, is the re-defining of the meaning of marriage, one of the world's oldest institutions. This has nothing to do with hating others, just preservation of what we believe to be sacred and unchangable. I've said my piece and now I am done. Thank You.
Congrates to the both of you. I've never did this kind of thing before. I'm getting married on March 15th. Thats my brothers birthday. He died when he was 7 years old. I want it to be special and a day to remember. Like getting married on your show would be the best, but like that would ever happen. Wishful thinking,so I guess I have to settle getting married in Las Vegas. I hope to meet you one day. Bye bye
agrees it should be legal,at my old work place I could add my girlfriend to my insurance, and that was a plus but in missouri we wasnt able to marry just in the eyes of the chruch
Congratulations. You are so fabulous. Your show is fantastic. I love your show! A vegan wedding; so wonderful! May all beings be happy and free from suffering. Peace!
I love you!!! This is my 2nd try to get through but want you to know I support you 100 % My son is gay and he is the most thoughtful person I know and would do anything for anybody. I have been watching you for years and your shows were the highlight of my days. I an recovering from cancer and you were the highlight of my day. Iamso distressed about prop 8 and if I could do anything to help you I would! You make people happy and I am disappointed people are still in the dark ages. Again I'm behind you 100%!. People don't know that unles they go thru it. Best of luck to you! I love all snap!
Congratulations Ellen, you have such a beautiful wife and you are a beautiful couple.
Responding to anonymous on 11/17...
I think it's absolutely ridicious that people use God as a leverage. The fact of the matter is there was a decision made to allow gay marriage to be upheld in a court of law. Now, they are saying "sorry, we changed our minds." How would any other married couple feel if someone came and told you that your marriage means nothing. I think that anonymous is some man that's just pissed because he can't get a wife that half as beautiful as ellen or porshia!
en argentina aun no nos podemos casar... =(
I really think it was wrong what you did, but your show is cool. P.S Boys were put on the earth for girls, not for their same sex.
ellen, my husband and i just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. i could not even imagine someone telling us we are no longer considered married. i have been following the gay marriage issue for some time now. i am in full support, even in the use of the word "marriage". it is a marriage in every sense of the word. i have a close friend whose daughter is gay and living with her partner for many years. they have a beautiful baby one year old. My husband and i recently had dinner with their beautiful family. it breaks my heart to know that people are judged based on love. thanks for listening. much love and prayers.
First of all, I wanted to say "CONGRATULATIONS" on your marriage to Portia!! That's awesome!!
I am not gay, but I totally support gay marriage and gay unions. So the comments made by "Anonymous" on 11/17 are quite disturbing to me. If they are so strong in their beliefs, why did they sign it "Anonymous"? It's truly sad that he/she thinks that way and said those rude things.
Ellen, you are truly a delight and you brighten my day when I watch your show. You make me laugh my butt off, which is very healthy I hear... so your show is good for me as well!!
I wish you nothing but the best in your marriage. You and Portia are a wonderful couple and I am truly happy for the both of you. Wishes for a long and happy marriage!
Cheers to you both!

hi ellen am a big fan of your show in this side of the globe.. the philippines. too bad the show is aired on delayed telecast- 3 weekks.. yes 3 long weeks. but i do get updates thru your website. your bright attitude perks up my day and am looking forward to watch your show on my next visit to america. gud day
I am gay. It isn't like anyone took our right to be with each other.Let's stop being so spoiled about 'wah wah we didn't get our way.' We can STILL love each other and live together .We still have a union.I actually voted against Prop8 because I believe we as gay couples need to have a 'union' per say, and not a 'marriage',which IS for man and woman.Let's respect that and work towards having a Union for gay couples. My girlfriend loves this idea.
Dear Ellen... first i would like to offer my congratulations on your marriage. I just want to say how special Emily Bear's wedding song was to you! It is wonderful to see how the innocence of a little girl can make the world seem so simple and not let preconceived ideas of what love is rule their way.
Maybe your critic in the last blog should ask themselves why they have to degrade your love for one another and make it seem shameful when it has nothing to do with them. Please keep being yourself and spread the love you feel everyday.
All the best and my wife and I love your show.
Kind Regards
Bryn Gladding
You alway brighten my day!
Prop 8 did pass and i couldn't be more happy.
We prayed and fasted and God has shown His power through the votes of the people. If all of those against 8 feel so strongly then they should've showed up in numbers as we "Yes" votes did. You let it slip by and you have no one to blame but yourself.
You have the right to fight it and we welcome you, for we will always have something stronger, the power of God on our sides.
Sorry to all who voted No. Its time that you get over it and move on. You can start with letting go of this gay act and these emotions you are letting run your life. Its your choice, you weren't born like this, so let it go.
Praying for you all-
The fact that Prop 8 passed is a sad indication of the continued bigotry and discrimination that runs rampant in this country and state. The "Yes On 8" campaign was filled with deception and lies and, unfortunately, people believed them and voted with them. My right to marry must not be decided by popular vote and I only pray the California Supreme Court intervenes and overturns this horrendous proposition. Marriage is a fundamental right for all people, not a heterosexual privilege!
I was reading what Ellen said about gay marriage and what how great that obamby is pres and that is upward in this country and now that they ban gay marriage that is a thumbs down, lets just say the people have spoken and that is that. unfortunately the people spoke on the election but you live with it and the people spoke on the the gay marriage issue so you just live with it, and of course the people in cali can all move up to the great state of mass. home the the great teddy kennedy.
Hey Ellen, I just watched Mr. Olbermann's video. I agree 100%.
I am a 57 year old woman who came out of the closet 8 years ago. Even though I knew all my life who I really was. With my generation and community, I did "What was right". I married, had 2 children, and did what was expected of me. I was married for 28 years to a great man. Ten years ago he passed away suddenly with no warning at all.
After his death I struggled with which way to turn my life. I did date a few men, but was not happy. Then I met and got to know a lady. I knew what kind of life style she had and was ok with it, a matter of fact, was anxious to really get to know her. We discovered we had so much in common. Such as fishing, deer hunting, bowling, and just enjoying life. After about 6 months or so, we decided to make a commitment. Of coarse our families were not happy at all, but we knew we were meant to be together. We had a small gathering at our local park with a few close friends, about 10, and exchanged vows which we had written. We have been together for 8 years and see ourselves continueing for many more.
Our families have come to accept our relationship. It was a struggle at first, but they have accepted us.
What I would like to say to those, who are against our relationship because of religious reasons, is this. The first quote that comes to my mind from the bible is this, Judge ye not, lest ye be judged! When we are out in public, we refrain from any type of touching each other out of respect for peoples beliefs. If we can show respect for them, why can't they return the jesture and let us be who we are.
As I said, we live in a small community. A matter of fact, it is southeast Missouri which has been called The Bible Belt. We are just like everyone else. We get involved with our community and get along with our neighbors. We belong to a bowling league and each year I help organize a cake walk for cancer research.
I just hope more people with clout will keep speaking out on prop 8 and maybe someday soon, we can all live the life we feel is right for us.
Keep up the good work with your show and congratulations on your marriage.
Sincerely,
Beverly Dockins

i am so happy for the both of you. i wish everyone could find there true love and be married and be happy with no interferance.
