this is pretty cool.
my aunt has done this in her class room before..!!!
:)

are you ppl serious the ones that have never seen this before? what kind of childhood doesnt involve corn starch+water at some point, come on now

REMINDS ME OF MY DAYS AS A PRESCHOOL TEACHER. FUN!! HAVE A WONDERFUL 4TH., IT WON'T BE TOO MANY YEARS BEFORE WE WILL NO LONGER BE CELEBRATING THIS OR ANYOTHER AMERICAN HOLIDAY IN WHAT WAS ONCE THE "UNITED" STATES OF AMERICA!!! GOD HELP US.

AMAZING science experiment. I'd never seen that.

As for the other comments...shows how our society has changed and we get off topic. Enjoy the positives in life. I hope everyone has a wonderful INDEPENDENCE DAY!!! THANK GOD we can celebrate our INDEPENDENCE!

Ack, can you imagine having to clean out that tub?!? I tried it on a (VERY) small scale, but I must not have gotten the consistency right, because the cat refused to go near it. I imagine there's some experimenting involved to get it just right.

As for the jerkoff bigots trolling forums to preach their own mental illness and hate, GO AWAY. Go get psychiatric help. And go pass junior high school. You haven't "found God," you've joined the modern-day KKK. Other people's personal lives are NONE OF YOUR FREAKING BUSINESS.

I wonder if it could be done with jello? It has a similar surface tension.... (And it would be a lot easier to clean up!)

Brian . you should let the kids try this.

Very cool. I remember seeing this on TV while channel surfing when it aired the first time. You are a boon to this generation Ellen, both for your talent, and for your courage. Rock on.

it was really amasing to watch the vedio.
it is also informative to the students of science.
good job done

regards

You all need to get a life, learn how to spell, and to you miss I used to be in the life and got out after 5 years need to truly find God and realize that God is love not hate and preaching. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Who takes a video on corn starch and turns it into a soap box to preach on? Stop and smell the roses and enjoy the little things in life, maybe then you would be able to find happiness inside yourself and not by misquoting the bible.

Wonderfully done and presented experiment by Steve & Ellen.

There was a Myth Busters show on this before. They were trying to prove/disprove that ninjas really could walk/ run across water.

this is about ellens tv show , not her personal life. she is a wonderful person and should not be biased against because she lives her life with true honesty and love. congrats ellen and portia on your wedding plans.

im am gonna try this at home send me some cornstarch and a tub at 164 sneed lane thank u!

Stop quoting that story you guys refer to as the story. How is that going to convince anyone but other bible huggers that you are right. Its people like you that ruined such a good idea bring people together.

LOL. You people are ridiculous. I seriously don't understand how a clip about CORN STARCH turned into a preaching session.

Ellen quite OBVIOUSLY doesn't care what you people think about her lifestyle. And she shouldn't. It's HER life, not yours. If she's happy, then leave her be! I admire that woman so much for her confidence and bravery. If only everyone could have the guts to do what she has done. And I'm sorry, I don't date girls, but Portia is hot!

Everyone has the right to their opinions and beliefs... But unless you want to be a narrow minded biggot, respect the opinions and beliefs of others as well. Just because she chooses to live her life a certain way, does not mean that she's a bad person. None of us are "without sin". If you think that you are, you really need to take a step back and evaluate your life, because you're WRONG.

Get over yourselves, and let people live their lives as they see fit. It has NOTHING to do with you; Worry about yourself and the "sins" you commit.

Now - in regard to the video, which is what everyone SHOULD be commenting on in the first place; I loved it. I think I'm going to try this over the weekend. =)

we made this in school... Ooblick :D

Yes, this is an old trick, but isn't it fun to have each new generation discover things all over again!! They say there's nothing really new, just variations and discoveries based on the same old stuff.
And I love Ellen! She's cute, has hilarious expressions, and is funnier than a hoot. What? She's gay? And how does that matter in the slightest? Who gives a darn what people do in the privacy of their own homes. What matters is what kind of people they are. And Ellen is tops.

Colloids!

It was also done on Mythbusters they just colored it blue.

That is so cool!!!!
It makes me want to go out and buy
two thousand boxes of corn starch.
Would not that be the greatest Fourth of July you ever had?
What fun.
