What foods that we eat have corn starch as an ingredient?

its called obick...kids love it

WOW!! That was a great video. I used to make the cornstarch/water mix when my kids were little, we called it UBLECK!!. THe kids loved playing in it. We made small tubs of it, great summer fun outdoors of course!! (This was in the mid 80's!)

Gina

Ian, there is one more thing I can think of that you can do with it....... In the USA, you can do anything.

That was AWESOME!!

oh Ian better to be usa than to be stiff like brits.

To the bloke Ian who apparently thinks this is such a waste of time he wasted his time to write about it. Try being self deprecating for a change. Now off with you. I have to go watch my DVD collection of Benny Hill, that other rubbish. :)

Only in the USA would they spend time with rubbish like this. Bush you got a great country, mate. Is Ellen one of Bush's advisors ? Oh and who is Ellen any way ?

I just made this with my Pre-Schoolers at the end of the school year...we called it Oobleck and dyed it green...for the story by Dr. Suess, Bartholemew and the Oobleck. It was great! The students, and myself, had a ton of fun playing with it! It's pretty easy to clean up too :-)

How cool is this?

Using Dr. Seuss's book, Bartholomew and the Oobleck, I've followed up in class with making this substance (calling it "oobleck") and letting the children discover its different properties. They have a great time with it, and it is easy clean up.

Yeah, this is called a non-newtonian fluid. It doesn't act according to the three newtonian laws of physics. Scientists are experimenting with other forms of this kind of fluid for military bullet proof body armor.

What's funny is that I litterally just made some of this stuff at home in a bowl three days ago. Litterally, just corn starch and water. It takes about 3 parts corn starch, 1-2 parts water. Just keep adding corn starch until it gets to the same consistency as shown in the video, as that is perfect.

Great stuff.

This is one for the whole family. Enjoy. :-)M

it's been done on Mythbusters before

lookeeheer

Its been done about 5 years ago in Ireland

We use Oobleck (cornstarch and water) combo in our Early Intervention/Special Education classes. It is a very theraputic substance, and develops fine motor muscles as you play with it. You can also add food color to it to make it go with "themes" ex: orange food color for "pumpkin oobleck".
It is "clean/messy" fun......washes very easily with just water.

You can let the "oobleck" evaporate on a cookie sheet, (dry it out) and put dry cornstarch back into a zip-top bag to save for another day.

Great to see on national TV, as I have been using this for YEARS!

Gotta love oobleck! I am a teacher and my class makes this every year. I rememeber one time a fellow teacher told me that he made a small tub it and jumped off his desk into it to get his students interested in science only to learn just how bouncy it was and bounce from the tub over the 1st row of students and fell on his face..lol if that wouldnt get their attention I don't know what would

I am so happy for you Ellen. You have shown the whole world how to stand up and be a nice person even when others have been so unkind.

That was awesome,
