And I agree, let's leave god out of this. We cannot know what is in other people's hearts, some of us don't even bother to examine our own. I don't think we should hazard a guess as to what might make god (or whatever he/she/it might be) happy. I think if there is a god the one thing he/she/it would want for the world would be for people to be happy - regardless of gender.

I think Ellen is funny and seems genuinely kind. However saying that I think it's a very sad day when we glorify something that is a crime to the Lord. We don't get to pick and choose which rules suit us. It is very clear that same sex marriage is a sin and since the Bible also indicates that all sin is created equal this marriage in the eyes of the Lord is just as painful to watch as any other sin. So when all of Ellen's fans are showering her with congrads can we leave God out! He's not happy with Ellen or Portia! The woerld is doing exactly what the Bible said it would do 2000 years ago. It is deteriorating at record speed and we are all falling over each other with praise for sins against God. We should be ashamed!

Ellen, I have watched you for years, since you were in your cocoon, wrapped in safety and warmth of what you thought you had to do to be accepted. Trying to find your niche in this crazy world. You had your comedy, and you were wonderful. You made me laugh just watching you laugh, and your personality is just contagious! But I could see something was missing. And I hurt for you because, even as wonderful as you are, and what a beautiful, caring person you are, you had to hide from the world. Living a secret life, hidden away, you could not be touched by the sunlight, so that you could grow and prosper.

I watched as you began to emerge from your cocoon, a brilliantly colored caterpillar, slowly chipping away until you could see clearly the world that could not open up to you until you took that leap of faith and 'came out' to see what the real world is all about. But still you crawled slowly and kept near the security of the ground, and would camouflage yourself when you needed to. Many people were cruel and tried to step on you and squash you, but you continued to be true to yourself. You showed so much grace and courage, I will never forget.

Since your show began, I have watched when I can, and nothing makes me happier! It brightens my days! There is just something about you that shines! You radiate laughter and caring and peace and happiness!! Look back and remember the years of hiding, and doubting yourself, and the struggling and tears, because they have made you what you are today! And you should be so proud! You have truly transformed into a beautiful butterfly, and I know you can now do nothing but soar!! You are amazing!! Don't mind if I cling to your wings every now and then just to see what it feels like for a minute to be so free! And if I ever get the chance to meet you, it would make my day, my week, my month, my year!!
