Thursday, the wonderfully inspirational 70-year-old first grader, Alferd Williams, talked to Ellen about finally realizing his dream of learning how to read. Alferd said that you can teach old dogs new tricks, they're just not as fast as the new dogs.

I realize I'm a tad behind, but want to join in on the contributions for Alferd's building fund.
Please advise how to contribute.

Hi Ellen,

I am a little behind on my Ellen show because I was out of town but catching up last night on my DVR I saw your segment about Alferd Williams. I have to say that will stay with me forever. I have never seen someone so truly grateful ever. What a guy!!! I would love to dontate something for him to build his new house. Someone posted a website on this posting but it's hard to tell if it's safe if it's not coming directly from your site. Can you please post something so that I can send a donation to this great guy. He changed my outlook on life in 5 minutes. He has a gift that most people don't have. He can make an impact on people and he deserves something for himself. Please post how to donate and maybe mention it on your show again so that people don't forget about him.

Dear Ellen, I first saw Alferd's story on the news a number of weeks ago here in Australia and was so pleased to catch your show the other day and learn more about him. I too cried tears of happiness as I watched Alferd's delighted reaction to your gifts, both to the school and to him personally so that he may one day build the home he has always dreamed of. Alferd's story was very humbling for me and made me realise how much of a privilege it is for a lot of people to receive an education. I am very keen to donate to Alferd's dream as I found both him and his teacher so inspiring! I love your show and am so glad we get to see you here in Australia as you always bring a smile to my face. Cheers, Rata

Is there info somewhere about donating to Alferd's house on the hill?

where is the info on donating to alferd williams?

Ellen,
With my school sponsoring literacy initiatives, could you please post the Alfred video on your sight. I would love to share it with my 8th graders.

My sister, a libriarian, said there was a picture book called _George Baker_, similar to
Alfred's story. Is it really based on him?

I love your segments like this. You are making audiences smile, cry happy tears, and ignite change that otherwise would never happen!

Keep dancing!

Chrissy

Ellen
Thanks for the wonderful show on alfred my heart jump for joy for him. Keep touching others lives

Please put the video of the interview with Alfred on your site. I DVRd it, but I want to show it to my students, many of whom could care less about being able to read or go to school.

Love your show, babe!

I saw where you show funny pictures of pets etc.
I have a great one i think is so funny and cute..can not find where to send it..please help me out...

Just went to your website hoping to find out how to donate to help Alferd. Saw many letters from your viewers asking the same question but I didn't see anything from you as to how to do it. PLEASE POST SOMETHING SO WE KNOW HOW TO SEND ALFERD SOME HELP.

I am looking for where I can donate to Alferd, the 70 year old man. Ellen said it would be on her website if one wanted to send money for him to build his house.

If it is there, it is not easy to find. Please direct me. I hate to think he may be missing donations. Mine isn't much, but it is something. He is a very special person!!

What a great segment, I cried most of the segment. What a great inspiration. Please post donation address, and what a great teacher he has. What is the school's address?

How do I donate for this wonderful delightful person???? He deserves a new house.

This man was so sweet. What a hard life he must have had to live working so young. Although I can't give as much as you generously did, I'd LOVE to make a donation to his house fund, if it's possible. Where can I do that?

Ellen, do you think you could get Alferd some teeth?

This segment with Alfred today was the best ever in my opinion. I've saved it and locked it on my DVR so I can show the clip to as many people as I can. It really irritates me when you have a guest on the show and you give them something, anything...and they act expectant. The fake ungratefulness is unnerving. Today's clip with Alfred was "priceless". The true surprise and humbled response of Alfred was heartwarming. When I watched it the first time, I cried because I was so happy. Then this evening I watched it again with my husband and cried yet again. This man would no doubt give the shirt off his back for someone and not look back. He just wants to learn how to read. How cool is that? Hats off to this teacher, too, who was willing to have him in her classroom. Hats off to the school system that OK'd Alfred to be there. Our schools here in Ky. would have never allowed such a thing.
Thanks for the clip.
I don't agree with some of your opinions on issues, especially politically, but you have an incredible show. There is so much great stuff on your show that I am able to sift through the things I don't like.
As Glayd's would say...keep on keeping on..

Ellen I need your help... I dont know how to get a hold of anybody to contact you... or how to ask for help and actually get it... my mom is in desperate need to meet you my handicap sister was near death and my mom is having a hard time will anyone help me to get ellen's attention, if anyone ever felt bad for the mentally and physically challenged in any way please do me a solid and help my mom get a ticket at least... to watch the show?!?!? Please anyone if you even care HELP!

Please - how can I donate to help this wonderful man build his house? It was worth everything to see his joy and delight when you handed him a check for $10,000 !
