Today in Ellen History

On this day in 1965, Ellen came in second place in her first grade macaroni art contest. (She lost to a girl who used glitter, thus starting Ellen's lifelong anti-glitter crusade.)

On this day in 1998, Ellen won a Brownies Good Citizenship badge for helping an old lady across the street. The old lady hadn't planned on crossing the street, but Ellen was insistent.

On this day in 2004, The Ellen DeGeneres Show wons its first Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show. Ellen would go on to win the award again in 2005, 2006 and 2007! This year, she has been nominated for 8 Emmy Awards.

What? In 1998 you were a brownie? ha ha. Thats the year when you started to dye your roots. I think basically you are a chestnut underneath. See when I was born 1965 I was delivered by a doctor who was dressed up to go to a formal dinner party, he wore a bow tie and tux thing. My mum said he looked rather dapper. So, when I zoomed out..he dashed off to his dinner party. You know I have been thinking..I wonder what happend to my after-birth? do you ever think about that? And the cord..where does that end up? My dad was at Sea at the time..so hence I was giving the delightful name of "sprog" Navy term. I am not the only sprog.

Actually still today..Dad calls me sprog when he is in a jolly mood. One brother calls me Boo, my other brother calls me Bones and my sister..what does she call me again? she calls me Bones or Boo. My mum use to call me by my birth name.

To the person below who was upset by Ellen's announcement of her intention to marry Portia:

Ellen made her sexuality clear in 1997. Where have you been?

i wish you nothing but, happiness despite what others have to say. IT'S YOUR LIFE SO LIVE IT UP ELLLI. MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU.

Ellen, My opinion about you more less saying that you were getting married, and you made sooooo straight forward, you was getting married to another woman. I thought that was unnecessary on national television. You are on television when young people that families teaching their childern values in life. Iam not judging your lifestyle, because their is only one Judge in the world. But in respect of others I thought youwas wrong anouncing about how California now allowing Gays right in getting married, and plus told everyone, and everyone know your sexuality now.Sooooooooo explode it again and again.I stop watching your show because of this.

YOU'RE THE GREATEST!
