Today in Ellen History

On this day in 1965, Ellen came in second place in her first grade macaroni art contest. (She lost to a girl who used glitter, thus starting Ellen's lifelong anti-glitter crusade.)

On this day in 1998, Ellen won a Brownies Good Citizenship badge for helping an old lady across the street. The old lady hadn't planned on crossing the street, but Ellen was insistent.

On this day in 2004, The Ellen DeGeneres Show wons its first Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show. Ellen would go on to win the award again in 2005, 2006 and 2007! This year, she has been nominated for 8 Emmy Awards.

Hi, I watch you on tv in the afternoon. I quickly drive to library to see if I can win onee your prizes by logging on to the library computer. What happened to lady who told you to move your flowers? I remember you asked her to come on program but she declined I believe due to age. Talk with her again.

Hi Ellen I would like to begin by saying...you are by far the most caring,selfless,'REAL'heartfilled woman in hollywood {thats speaks for its self!!} you are comfortable with who you are and most of all-you stand by and up for EVERYTHING that touchs your heart...which by the way is a pretty BIG place!your love of animals is so amazing -my love for animals stretchs just as far. the way you always end your dancing by [INCLUDING] and making the people in the wheelchairs feel special!you are gifted in so many areas, even trying to list them all would take FOREVER...one last thing, a small town girl made it on her ability to make people LAUGH, SMILE and [I THINK] the smartest person EVER to have a talk show...and it All came from one place...YOUR HEART!!!!!You are a woman that EVERYONE should look up to.

hi ellen..I think you should run for Prime Minister of Canada.Our elections are comming up in October and there are 5 major political parties.They are the PC'S(progressive consertivities),Liberal Party,(liberal's)NDP(NEW DEMOCRAIC PARTy),Green Party(the enviromental ones),Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada(just what you think) and then the ones who sit in parliment as independants.I think that there s/b a party called the Ellen Party. We would win beacuse all you have to do is listen to music and get in the rythem(even if disabled) and dance.You would be the perfect PM for Canada.

Hey There Ellen
I was never a fan of glitter myself. I have been in early childhood education for 25 years now and creative open ended art is a freedom of expression with no lines/rules.
Thank you for being a role model to so many young people today by leading your creative life with pure honesty and for being so genuine. I have been entertained by you for years starting with your stand up comedy your TV show etc.
I also apprectiate your energy on the show from someone who knows how hard it can be to maintain energy after the age of 40. I enjoy your dancing and love to dance myself another way to show freedom of expression.

it is a pleasure to just tpye you. I so wish it could be in person.you are a remarkable person and i love your show.Watching your show and the things you say and do makes me laugh and my heart happy. When i am at work i run from room to room durning the comercials so that i don't miss anything.I love your show and you. I could watch your show twice a day.
