Today in Ellen History

On this day in 1965, Ellen came in second place in her first grade macaroni art contest. (She lost to a girl who used glitter, thus starting Ellen's lifelong anti-glitter crusade.)

On this day in 1998, Ellen won a Brownies Good Citizenship badge for helping an old lady across the street. The old lady hadn't planned on crossing the street, but Ellen was insistent.

On this day in 2004, The Ellen DeGeneres Show wons its first Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show. Ellen would go on to win the award again in 2005, 2006 and 2007! This year, she has been nominated for 8 Emmy Awards.

Hello Ellen from AUckland NZ.

Your show is amazing. Your web site is a wonderful huge time waster - I am not complaining!. I rate you/your show even above Oprah (sorry Oprah you are wonderful) - mind you quite different shows. I try daily to sit with my cuppa and piece of home baking to enjoy your show. You make me laugh, cry, think deeper and query and be very grateful. Thank you -

My bum on one of your seats is a grand dream and hopefully one day I will - I have a sisterinlaw who lives in WYoming - maybe one day I can combine both.

Meanwhile keep up such a wonderful caring loving interesting exciting show. I totally admire you.
warmest regards
Diane NZ.

Hey Ellen, You are a groovy lady and I love you lots. I have a question though - can you come to Toronto to do a show so that I can come to see you? Have you ever thought about coming to Canada? I watch every day and I thoroughly enjoy your show!! You are awesome and so very real. Way to go girl!!!

Thanks Ellen

Terry

Dear Ellen,
I am going to ask you and your fans to pray for my 35 year old son that had a liver transplant and just had another operation that did not go well. He has been in ICU for 4 weeks and is not getting much beeter. The reason I ask you is because I watch you everyday(almost everyday), and you make me laugh when no one else can.You are the only one that can make me smile and laugh Ellen and beleive me it takes a lot these days. You are so kind, funny, pretty, compassionate, and caring, and it seems your followers are just like that too. I need encouragement and support during this time because I am slowly sinking Ellen. He raises his daughters on his own and he is my only child, but even if I had 10 kids I'd feel the same way. Anyway Ellen, please can you keep your prayers going along with your audience. I truely love you Ellen. My sister and I, who I lost this year, have watched you since you first began and knew from the start that you were going to be famous, just like Whoopi!lol lol Sincerely, Diane P>S my son's name is Brad

Ellen I really look up to you because you seem very happy and secure of yourself. I have a lot of gay friends and some have "issues". I think it has to do that they think that society doesn't except them. They are sad all the time some create problems for others etc...
I don't have a problem with them because I love them and I with they would love themselves just the way I see you. I see you enjoying life and thats what life is bout. If people can't accept you the way you are then they are not worth you keeping them around.
Thank you Ellen you are the best
CM

Hi Ellen-

Love your show but have one or maybe two questions. When I enter one of your contests it seems Canadians may not be allowed-they are on other shows. There is no place to put our provinces instead of states. I hope we can enter as I am a really big fan of you and the show and like to be included with all the other viewers.

Please allow Canadians to enter Geraldine King

Hey, has anybody else noticed that in Ellens' herstory that her birth year is documented improperly? There is no way that she could have been born in 1965. I believe she turned the big 50 about a year ago. I think her birth year would be 1958. Check it out Ellen fans.

I was just reading your history for May 21st and it is soooo wonderful that in 1998 (emphasis on the "98") you won a Brownies Good Citizenship badge for helping an old lady across the street. It's unfortunate that someone as kind and intelligent as you have not yet graduated from Brownie to Girl Scout, but you keep trying dear. I'm sure you'll make it someday!

We just have to get back for your show.We have lived in Turkey for 7 years and television is rubbish but you just make us laugh so much.Thank you so much.

Ellen-I will make this short & not 2 boring I hope. I have always liked you.You have a personality like no other Keep up the good work. The reason I am writing is-I am in a financial situationthat I hope you have an answer for. Three years ago we refinanced our home.At that time we did not have enough equity to take care of $28,ooo, in the form of a 2nd mortgage. I ended up putting the amount on 2 credit cards & have been paying faithfully every month. My husband does not know about this as I didn't want him to know as he had a quadruple bypass 11 years ago & has high blood pressure & suffers from depression. I am not that well either. Besides being diabetic I was just diagnosed with osteo-artritis which is in almost all my joints. Pain city.I would like to know if you know any body who could take over the 2 cards & give us a lower interest rate & payments? I thank you ahead of time just in case you have some suggestions. You can contact me through my e mail address. I love, thanks. Barb Gajeski

DEAR ELLEN, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR.2009. TO YOU AND YOUR SWEET HEART.ALL YOUR FAMILY,FRIENDS,CO-WORKERS.HOPE THIS YEAR IS GREAT FOR ALL!!!! LOVE, MARI AND MY FAMILY.
