Today in Ellen History

On this day in 1965, Ellen came in second place in her first grade macaroni art contest. (She lost to a girl who used glitter, thus starting Ellen's lifelong anti-glitter crusade.)

On this day in 1998, Ellen won a Brownies Good Citizenship badge for helping an old lady across the street. The old lady hadn't planned on crossing the street, but Ellen was insistent.

On this day in 2004, The Ellen DeGeneres Show wons its first Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show. Ellen would go on to win the award again in 2005, 2006 and 2007! This year, she has been nominated for 8 Emmy Awards.

Hi Ellen.
You're show is truly one of my favortie shows. I watch it every morning as eat my breakfast. You are an international sensation who makes everyone laugh. You should consider taking the show abroad so that you make dreams come true around the world and make people laugh.
I'd be a delight if you could one day bring the show to Mexico. You'd enjoy a day at the beach after a show while sipping on a pina colada with ocean breeze at your side.

Hi Ellen:

I am so glad to be able to have the opportunity to watch your show in the day and in the night; I also watch all your re-runs in the summer. When I saw what you did to get your picture on OPRA Magazine and your determination - I was inspired! I told myself, that watching your show twice in one day, I should learn something from you.
So I have decided to follow your teaching about "setting goals and to go after what you really want to do with your life." - I have set a goal, and I am going to use every strength determination that it will take to accomplish my goal. Of course, when I accomplish what I am dreaming about - I would like to share it with you on your show if you would allow me to do so. I personally, feel that we need more people like you in this world. I wonder if you really know how much your are loved by so many people in this world. I especially wonder if you realize that you are not only changing the lives of those that you personally give money and materials things to, but the many others that you are changing with just you bare actions. My name is Mónica and I´m from México City. I really love your show, you´re so funny!. The problem is that cannot see you very often because i work and your show its at 11 am or at 6 am so i have to wake up earlier to see you buy sometimes its very difficult wakeme up. I have 2 daughters,Andy its 6 years old and Mariana (2 years old) and they like to see your show too, so when they are on vacation they whatch you everyday. It would be so nice if you come to México and make the show here,don´t you think?.

I am 19 years old and I'll be having my second child in about two weeks. But there been a lot of problems. She isn't breathing to well. I had my first when I was 17 and she came out 2 months to early. She was only 3 pounds. She stayed in the hospitail for two months. But now she is doing great and her faviorte show is ELLEN!! And faviorte movie is south park. She is so crazy. But anywho I been wanting to work in a retirement home for about three years now but I don't know how to get started!! Its so hard to do anything these days my boyfriend works but it all goes to the car bill phone bill and dipars we live with his mom and two sisters and brother. We stay in the room so It will be my family of 4 in one room. But that's life. Every month we fight cause of money probelms. Or we will have a car problem. That stupid car its old but were still paying on it and its getting us places but no air conditioner and this is ca/az it gets 120 down here!! But you know i always have a way to put smile on everyones face at the end of the day and that's all because of your super funny jokes that I borrow shhhh don't tell but I think I should have a break and watch you show live!! Doesn't that sound like a great plan?? Well ellen call me I'm waiting!!! Life is hard I think I need a helmet!! Hehehehe I'm so funny!!

No se si sabes espanol espero que entiendas aunque sea un poco yo puedo hablar ingles pero no puedo escribirlo, asi que lo siento.

Sabes yo veo tu show en el Salvador y en realidad me encanta, tu si que sabes como hacer reir a la gente, auqneu aqui lo pasan como dos semanas atrasado pero me encanta, sabes, mi hijo vive en Abuquerque Nuevo Mexico y a el tambien le encanta mirar tu programa, hablamos todos los dias por las noches y tu programa es una de las cosas en comun que tenemos para conversar.

Gracias por hacer especial un pequeno momento de conversacion con mi hijo. Que Dios te bendiga siempre.

Dear Ellen,
No one makes me laugh like you do! You are such an amazing person, and so open with your life! I fell and broke my arm in 2007 and had 5 surgeries and a very bad infection after the first surgery that lasted until I got my 5th surgery and two inches of bone cut out of my arm by my new and wonderful Dr Itamura. at the USC Medical Center,He gave me back my life saved my arm and my life I am sure! Anyway my point was I started watching your show while layed up in bed for that year and a half and no matter how bad my day was I watched your show and my husband often thought I was crying and I was actually hysterically laughing while watching your show! Now everyday I watch your show and your still making me laugh and I can't tell you how much I love and respect and appreciate everything you do! Watch for my notes cause I am on a mission with you!!! I watch your everyday even if I am at work that day your show is out to record on a regular basis. I feel you deserve every emmy or reward you have gotten. I think you are great person and crazy and funny most of the time.

Hi Ellen, in Veracruz México is very dificult see the show, every day I see you at 11:00am, I started my work at 2:00pm. I like a lot the show and I want to go, in April 11th is my brithday, I hope can go. YOU ARE AMAZING!!! I am a BIG FAN of you.
