On this day in 1965, in spite of tripping on her jump rope, Ellen continues to jump rope and play hopscotch on her front steps.

On this day in 1972, after whacking her thumb in shop class, Ellen continues to finish making her bird house.

On this day in 2007, despite severely injuring her back, Ellen continues to host the show from a hospital bed!

I think it's a shame that in an election year where a Democratic White house should have been a slam-dunk, that the Obama/Clinton campaigns have so severely divided the party that there is even a CHANCE that McCain may be elected. Bah hum bug. His statement that he respectfully disagrees with your opinion, Ellen, is an incredible effort on his politial agenda to not sound like a bigot.

I just wanted to say how much you make me laugh and i don't laugh often.. I am so happy to hear you and portia got married. You give such a positive role model for us gays... God sent you here to do what you do! AND you sure do one heck of a good job at it! I LOVE YOU! I have come to your show twice - only got in the audience once, but I plan to come back soon - especially since you are on the new lot! I love how you don't make people stand in line all day! Hi Ellen,
Congrats to you and Portia. Your wedding pictures were so beautiful that I started to cry when you shared them.
I want to share something with you. I have been through quite a rough year and the only bright spot to my days for awhile was dancing with you in my living room. It's hard to be depressed while dancing. Also, I have started my own brand of dancing...car dancing. I pop in a CD and dance my butt off in the car. I'm a skilled lunatic so I pose no threat to anyone on the road. I drive a lot so car dancing works for me. Thanks for inspiring me to dance again. Like so many others, I adore you! Im Denise from the Philippines,I always watched your show everyday..Im really amazed that when i saw your wedding..Im also a gay lesbian..me & my partner are already 7yrs now.Since i came here in the U.S when i saw your show & they told me that you're a gay lesbian i feel happy coz i know that gay here in the U.S are most welcome than my country..Someday i will mary my partner too..Thanks Helen coz you've been my inspiration..

Since I saw your show for the first time, fall in love completely with your way of being, my english sucks, i know, but I do the best that I can. Everything is for saying to you that I adore you
I agree in what Gaston said in the first post, which we need people like you in our country, you are incredible, graceful, and totally natural, that unfortunately one does not see every day in the tv and you are a clear example of it.
To end i like to say to you that to many of us, the Argentinians, like us that you should make to yourself a little trip and you take revenge to giving a couple of shows here.
Also I want to tell you that I have girlfriend three years ago and some day i like to marry as your and Portia, many congratulations from Argentina, kisses, embraces and these things, good-bye.
