I think it's pretty bad that Simon appeared on Ellen and actually said Cook would win but he handed the night to Archuleta. Sounds to me that he was just trying to cover up his "boo boo". By handing it to Archuleta that night...just made the Cook fan base call in more and secure the vote. You don't think so? On Dial Idol...the vote was sooo close between the 2 Davids. Syesha's fanbase had to go somewhere. Did they all go for Cook....NOT. So what caused the 12 million vote difference? THINK about it! Archie sang his heart out....ballads or not. HE SHOULD HAVE WON!!!

I just wanted to comment on this and tell you what I think. First, let me start by saying I love Ellen and watch her show faithfully, but I was upset when she and Simon talked in a negative way about David Archuleta. She should have waited to give her opinion after the results. My wife and children all like David Archuleta and don't get me wrong we also like David Cook, but as far as vocal talent--David Archuleta should have been the winner. On the show they are always talking about that it should not be a popularity contest and well guess what it is. Out of 7 seasons of American Idol, America has only gotten it right twice, in my opinion. David Archuleta has been singing for a long time now and should have been rewarded by America. Why was David Cook rewarded for something he didn't even want to do?? After watching the finale performances I, as well as the judges (EVEN COWELL) agreed that Archuleta was the clear winner--so what happened America?? As far as David Archuleta's dad--I don't know what to believe, but I can believe that it's hard for a child to live with a father that is calling all of the shots (if that's what's going on) and that made me and should have made others want to vote for him to get him out from under that stress. Anyway, that is my opinion and I have already bought all of the songs David Archuleta has on iTunes and I listen to them all the time now. I can not wait until he brings out a CD! We will also buy David Cook's because we think he is good too. One last thing...people talk about range--well in my opinion, Archuleta has great range and I heard it throughout. Cook's range was the same throughout the show. Although, he did make a couple of songs his own, the range seemed the same the whole way through the show. I wish both David's success and I hope David Archuleta has a wonderful career even though he didn't take home the title. Ellen you still rock! i am 10 years old and i love your show.i think david cook should win he is so original and can sing any type of song.but david.a. onlys sings ballads but is a great singer. ido not agree with simaon though i don't think it was knock out.i think david.a. did pick better songs but david.c. is a great singer.plus david.a. is kinda young and i don't think he could handle it if he won.i think they are both great but like david cook.he is the best. i don't know who will win but they both will have a singing career!!!!go david cook!

I think Archuletta has a beautiful voice... Is he Idol worthy, NO! My definition of an American Idol is someone who ENTERTAINS... has the ability to sing more than just slow ballad type love songs... Archuletta is one sided and all his songs sound the same after awhile... Yes, I am a Huge David Cook fan, because I think he meets up to the requirements of an "idol". In the long run they will both be famous, I just feel Cook will outshine Archuletta as a performer in the years to come.....because his has great stage presence and he is able to sing pop, rock, and ballads..... just an opinion of a music crazed momma!!
