I can't vote yet..but certainly if I can and when I can, I would only vote for a candidate who is compassionate, caring, wise (not merely intelligent/smart), inspiring, eco-friendly and honest...

based from the interview, Sen. McCain was very much uncomfortable and yes, had no eye contact with Ellen/the audience.. I thought Ellen was respectful when she raised the topic about gay marriage...and in my opinion, we need a new leader..some people are scared of Sen. Obama coz he's a newbie in the political arena...

I say thee "experience does not mean a thing if that so-called resume/experience is used to repeat "negative" history again and again and we'll have endless wars in that sense.." Thus, we need someone new and fresh that is very positive and is not afraid to "turn the other cheek and love thy enemy"... As Plato once said, "a child is easily forgiven when it is afraid of the dark; but the true tragedy in life is when men are afraid of the light."

Thus, do not be scared of the light and welcome it..the light is shining through Sen. Obama...feel it now..change is comin' to America and the rest of the world. Thank you.

We do not need McCain we pretty much had his twin George Bush for too many years. We need someone who will see everyone as equals. We need someone like MLK or Abraham Lincoln to get into office and give gays the rights they deserve. Today we look back into the past and say "Wow I can not believe America was so unfair to African American and Women..." In years our kids children should be able to say "I can not believe America was so unfair to gays..." The time for change is now. Let freedom ring for all.

I am a huge McCain supporter. And I thought the interview was very respectful. I am for gay rights and I am so happy for Ellen and Portia and many others that can get married now. Its a step in the right direction. The reason why I am voting for McCain because of his experience and he has the right agenda for health care which the other candidates will destroy my life with their plans. Also I respect him as a veteran. But I don't vote for someone for one reason or dislike them for one reason... Here is my take on his visit on the show...
When he was answering audiences questions...he failed to give eye contact most of the time...he was either looking down or god knows where. But he surely wasn't even addressing the person asking the question.

My personal opinion...I think he's too damn old to run for president...I wasn't voting for him before, but the way he gave no eye contact when questions were being asked,. just sealed the deal for me.

Did you all not see the interview with Hillary?? She said the same thing as McCain...She was for rights, benefits, etc. Ellen never asked her about "marriage" like she did Mcain. Why does she get the pass. From the two interviews, I could see no differences in their views?? Has Hillary come out and said she is for gay marriage??? or are they both just for gay rights?

She was fun, she was direct, she was nice to him.

I'm always amazed at how people think it is disrespect if Ellen disagrees with McCain but it's OK for McCain to disagree with Ellen. Yes, she invited him on her show but he accepted as a campaign stop. He had to have known that the question would come up. If he has trouble answering a question on a topic that has an impact on the lives of so many American citizens than the problem is his.

Ellen was not disrespectful, she asked a legitimate and expected question. Civil unions do not impart the same rights as marriage. I do not expect everyone to know this but I do expect someone running for President to know it. That being the case McCain needs a better answer to that question.

I was extremely impressed with how well Senator McCain handled himself on your show. Obviously, he agreed to appear even though he had to assume you would try to make him look bad...and he was right.

You say all the time that we should love and respect everyone- yet, you certainly did not show that to him.

Sen. McCain supports legal rights for same sex couples...and right now, that is the MOST important battle for G/L/T community. Weddings themselves are important and lovely, but secondary and certainly not as vital.

The G/L/T community has made tremendous strides in the last 10 yrs. This country is on a path to acceptance. Change is coming, but it comes with understanding, not bitterness. Your kindness, generosity and humor have played a LARGE part in bringing people towards acceptance, please don't stop the progress by hopping on a pedestal and preaching now. You were definitely catching more flies with honey. That mission suits you better.
