If you have a question that you'd like to ask the Senator, here's your chance. Ellen is taking your questions right here. She's going to ask as many of them as she can, so submit your question and be sure to watch the show Thursday to see if Ellen asks it. Thanks for participating in our democracy!

Regarding your interiew with Senator McCain, specifically concerning "gay marriage", It's fine to disagree with him, but I get the sense that you wouldn't put either Senator Clinton or Senator Obama on the hot seat, even though both of their official positions are against same sex marriage. I certainly hope if you have either Clinton or Obama on again before the election you will question their stand as well. Thanks, Eve

Dearest Ellen -- Congratulations at finally being able to get married!!! I wish you and Portia EVERY happiness! Different subject: I was looking forward to hearing McCain on your show, but we had a tragedy in the Santa Cruz Mountains with the fire and Channel 4 didn't air your show that day so we missed it! Could you possibly put that segment on your website? Thank you so much in advance and, again, I love you and wish you so much joy and fun and pleasure and love!!! Marilynn Dwight

I don't know if this was posted or not, so please let me simplify and clarify OK?...

I am a long time fan of Ellen's -- long before she "came out of the closet" and afterwards because she is a nice girl, a good girl, and funny without being mean...

I am also a Conservative Republican. I think Ellen expressed her opinon very well, and I applaud her for having Sen. McCain on her show. She showed the senator a lot more repect than he would have gotten from the ladies on "The View" or some other show that supposedly dissusses politics/current events but won't let anypne with a more conservative viewpoint have their say...

Don't misunderstand me, I disagree with Sen. Mc Cain on many issues. I would rather have voted for Guiliani of Sen. Fred Thompson, but they dropped out early in the race, as did our other candidates, so if I want to vote for someone who claims to be a Republican, I have to vote for McCain...

I do agree with McCains views on gay marriage. I'm sure when he said that marriage should only be between a man and woman and that he would support some kind of legal contract for gay people, I'm sure he was just trying to succinct. This is a commom and reasonable viewpoint held by most conservative people. But, from reading the message boards, I can see that most people wrongly assume that this means that he, and all conservative people, frame this issue in a purly religious, moral way and that we use that to justify intolerance, prejudice, discrimination, etc. and that we are all ignorant and close-minded or whatever. I can't speak for all people who call themselves Conservative Republicans. And if you are gay, and you are reading this, and someone who calls themselves a Conservative Republican said or did something wrong to you because you're gay, then I apologize to you for that. Because that is not what our Party is supposed to be about.WEBSTER"S NINTH NEW COLLEGIATE DICTIONY defines the word conservative as:

"a political philosophy based on tradition and social stability, stressing established institutions, and preferring gradual development to abrupt chage."

The word "republic" means: "a government in which the supreme power rests in a body of citizens entitled to vote, and is exercised by elected officials representing them and responsible to them according to the law."

The word "republican" means: "1 a: "of, relating to, or having the characteristics of a republic b: favoring supporting or advocating a republic. One of the 2 major political parties in the U. S. in the mid 19th century that is usu. associated with business financial and some agricultural interests and is said to favaor a restricted govt. role in economic and social life."

My pointis, that if the people on the message boards who think they're so smart would read an actual book once in a while, insted of getting all their info off the Internet, or the ultra-Liberal news media, you'd know that...

Anyway, my point is, as a Conservative Republicans, we believe there is a right way to do things, and I wrong way to do things. If people really want gay marriage to be legal, someone should write a bill, and put it thru the
proper process of how a bill becomes a law, and if it passes, that is fine. Black people and women had to do it that way to get all their civil rights. But a lot of people who say they
want gay marriage don't want to do it that way. What they want to do is to change the definition of marriage to include 2 people of the same gender. The problems if you do that, it won't be long before 2 or more people who are in a much more uncoventional relationship come along and say."We're in a committed relationship, we want to get married." And when the majority says, "No way, you're too far out there" they will say, "But you let gay people do it." How many definitons of the word marriage will be enough to satisfy everyone? And when someone asks you if you're for gay marriage, and you say no,they don't really give you a chance to really say all that. They just assume you're anti-gay, and get mad at you, and leave the room, and the conversation is over!! Because it's always been my experience that people who claim to be the mosts Liberal are actually the most close-minded of all!!...

Please think about that,

Tonyah

Ellen, I suppose you didn't know about this joke of John McCain's

Q: Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?

A: Her father is Janet Reno.

I've worked for a very senior politician and I know very well how public images can be the polar opposite of the reality.
This `maverick`, `straight talk express` is just another right wing militarist whose views are rooted in the dark ages.

I am in a unique situation. I, just last year, performed a wedding ceremony for my daughter and daughter-in-love. I got tired of waiting for America to come to it's senses. I am also married, unfortunately, to a gay pedophile. I can speak with knowledge about the "sanctity" of marriage. When I married, there was nothing in our ceremony stating that from here forth, we would only have sex with members of the opposite sex. Our ceremony spoke of love, honor, cherish, protect, aid and support. These are what marriages should be about. Does the Right Wing, Bible thumping fanatics really think my husband would not have had sex with men, or rape children, because he got married. Didn't work, just caused more victims. Do they know how many gay men are married to women who will be devastated or destroyed when they find out their marriage was a sham? I applaud you, Ellen, and congratulate you for marrying for love and companionship, which is what marriage should be about.

How does it feel to be on the wrong side of nearly every civil rights issue facing our nation? Also, what was it like to live before TV?

But seriously, give 'im some sweet, subversive hell, Ellen.

Senator, What do you think of slave masters who hide the MASTER KEY?

Why would you want to wear the cobra hood, or don't you understand the mathematics of our common ground? Guess what? Women don't need the hood and can fit the skirt. It's only love to tell you this. It's Only Love. Perhaps you lack the background in the underwriting architecture of predictive modeling to have done it yourself.

If you understand all men fall to my foundation, you've got the power of the MASTER KEY. Set the captive free, Senator You Who, or shut my Mother mirror trap?

I would like to ask Senator McCain what his views are about the current state of our economy and what plans he might have for improving it. I would also like to ask what his position is on education as far as standardized testing, funding, and art and music in the schools.

Ellen, my heartfelt congratulations on your engagement. May you and Portia enjoy all of the rights of a legally married couple so the rest of us who do not live in California can hope our dreams will come true too. Congratulations!

Sen. McCain, I would vote for you, but do not want 4-8 more years of the Bush policies that have failed us all as americans. I am backing Obama because of his new ideas and need for change. What can you tell me and other americans, without being negative towards Obama, why I should consider voting for you when Obama has far better ideas for ALL working middle class americans.

Forty years ago, I sweated, bled, and nearly died a member of Third Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force-Pacific, while deployed in the Republic of Vietnam, Miss Vanesco: Should Senator McCain--a genuine military hero in my eyes--decide to eliminate "Don't Ask; Don't Tell," I'll obligingly respect his executive directive, and then subsequently refuse to serve the United States of America in combat again under any circumstances, however dire.

Truth is, I've long believed it time for free-spirits like you to suspend your coffee klatsch, gainfully strap a field transport pack on your back, link a couple of canteens to your hip, grasp a rifle in your hands, and march for a protracted period of time to a hideously violent venue in that you might at last gain at least a glimpse of the supreme effort it daily takes to keep this tottering republic alive.

Forty years ago, we laconically called such service, "Life101." You can doubtless use a lesson in it.

Would Sen. McCain abolish Don't Ask, Don't Tell, as many military leaders recommend?

My uncle in 1944-45 was a member of the greatest naval strike-armada ever forged and put to sea during wartime, Task Force 38-58, a carrier-based venture jointly conducted by Admirals' William F. Halsey, Raymond A. Spruance, Marc A. "Pete" Mitscher, and John S. McCain. Likewise, my father was a combatant at Okinawa, and was protected ashore by the naval support provided by Task Force 38-58. The West Pacific naval battles in which this greatest of maritime task forces engaged in those years remain the most expansive, the most ferocious, and the most strategically significant in the international historical record.

A question for Senator McCain is:

Do you foresee similar naval actions occurring within the same seas in coming years, this time perhaps between China and the U.S., and is the United States Navy presently preparing for such an encounter should Beijing preemptively or premeditatedly attempt a seizure of Taiwan and a subsequent strangulation of the sea lanes stretching between the Chinese coast and the petroleum- and natural resource-rich Dutch East Indies?

Thank you--
