Mother's Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers out there! We only give you one day a year. It should really be the opposite. We should celebrate you every day. Except for one day, so you don’t get a big head. Where would we be without mothers? We wouldn’t be anywhere because no one would be born. Even mothers wouldn’t be here because their mothers wouldn’t be here. And their mothers and their mothers... it would just be a world filled with sea horses.

One day a year, we give our moms flowers and a card to show we understand how much they do for us, but most of the time we take them for granted. Being a mom is a lot of sacrifice and pain from the get-go. The moment you enter the world, you cause her pain. Agony, really. I have trouble getting my i-Pod earphones out of my ears… I can’t even imagine childbirth. You come out screaming and crying. Then you’re crawling around and putting things in your mouth. Then you learn the word, “NO.” And you become rebellious. Soon you’re hanging out with wrong crowd and start smoking Pall Malls. You hop on the rail cars and live the life of the hobo... then I turned 15. OH MAMA! I’M SORRY YOUR BABY’S SO BAD, MAMA!

Moms put up with so much. And all they do is love you unconditionally. They’re always there for you. And they love you for who you are. Even if they do wish you’d wear a dress once in a while.

Ellen
i totally agree with you we should celebrate mother's day everyday because if it wasn't for them we wouldn't be here! and i know your mother is proud of you cause she has every reason to be, you turned out to be a sweet, kind and beautiful lady! and congrats on you announcing your getting married.. you totally deserve it! she is one lucky lady! You always know how to make everyone smile no matter what kind of day they are having!! My little girl Alyssa loves you to death she is currently 18 months old and believe me she is into everything and talking up a storm or at least trying to! My mother is the greatest i couldn't ask for a better one! she has four kids, we are all grown up now and i am the yougest of them all and i'm 23!
she has been through alot of stuff in her life and it has only made her stronger and me also just watching how strong she has been and how hard she has worked has made me appreciate everything in life! she does house cleaning for a living usually for 6 days a week so she doesn't get the chance to do much to her house! if there was one thing i could ever want is for my mother to be able to enjoy herself cause she deserves every mintue of it! i know this mother's day really made her smile getting to spend time with us kids and grandkids! it was the best!
ellen your the greatest! don't forget to smile...you have a beautiful smile!

You are a truly wonderful person! you make me laugh so much, recently you also make me cry! It could be the hormones as I am 12weeks pregnant!
Umm it was a BIG SUPPRISE!! As I'm already a Mum to 2 boys, a 13 year old and 10 year old! yes I had given away all my baby things years ago, and lets face it they would have been antique's by now anyway! I thought my baby days were well and truely over! Well apparently they are not! I must say I have been struggling with the whole thing, but today after watching your show I felt LUCKY! AND HAPPY! So thank you!

All my love from Down Under

Hi Ellen!

I missed your Mother's Day Show since I was on my way to San Juan, Puerto Rico to surprise my dear mother and my family! This was going to be my first year away on this special day. I recently got married (3/8/08), with a Canadian that I met at the top of the Arc of the Triumph 4 1/2 years ago, and now I'm living very far away :-( from my family, I'm living now in Vancouver, BC.

My mom is 75 yrs old and my father is 82 yrs old, and they both are breath cancer survivors. I'm really proud of them, I love and I miss them sooo very much. I'll never forget the face of my mother when I came into the house, with my miniature Schnauzer (Tiffany) and I just said to her "surprise... Happy Mothers' Day". Oh! and when I surprise my Daddy, I just said "surprise" he couldn't move at all, he had his mouth wide open like a little kid. I'll never forget their faces :-) I'm so glad that I was able to be here, in Puerto Rico, celebrating mother's day definitely it was a very special one. I'm really bless to have them in my live and I really have a great hubby who supported me and who taped the show so that I can see it when I'm back in Vancouver...woo hoo!

Hi Ellen. My name is Sarah and I became a mom 18 days ago. My baby Landon has been in the pediatric icu since he was 4 days old. The doctors are still trying to figure out what is wrong with him. I did have a good mothers day because the nurses let me hold him. Days I don't get to hold him I watch your show to put a smile on my face. Thank you for helping me laugh in this sad and hard time.

You are a life-line! I taped your shows for months and watched them as I fed my newborn in the early hours. Your show always kept me awake! Our son was born 6 weeks early due to complications I experienced: HELLP Syndrome & Preeclampsia.

Thank you again for all your laughs!

Hey Ellen,

It is so true...Mothers are the best! Especially my Mom. I came out of the closet this Mothersday. I told my Mom about my 2 year relationship with a girl, who she had only known as my best friend. When I told her, she huged me and said:"...why didn't you say anything before?...I think its great you have found someone you love...." She is the best mom ever. I couldn't be more happy. I was really worried, but now she knows, i feel like i can be honest again. Without having to lie.

Long story, short. MOMS ARE ALWAYS GONNA BE THE POWERFUL, STRONG, RESILIENT AND LOVING BEAUTIES WE HAVE MET WHEN WE SHOT OUT OF THEM.

THANK YOU TO ALL THE MOMS OUT THERE!!!!

Hey Ellen, I would like to start off by saying your awesome and a pleasure to watch on t.v. You bring joy and laughter to many peoples lives and for that I'd like to thank you. I was especially touched by your Mothers Day special because my husband and I will be a first time Mommy and Daddy x2 Yippee!! My husband and I had a hard time conceiving and lost two previous pregnancy but are now BLESSED with twins. You may not be able to answer my question but I thought I would give it a shot. You were giving away strollers and I'm sure your wonderful staff did much research on this topic, I was wondering if they looked into double strollers and what the best would be. I myself have started some research and not having much luck any suggestions? Congratulations to you and Portia!! Truly a blessing.

Ellen

Just finished watching the Mother's Day show with Jessica Alba. It was a wonderful gesture giving the nursery furniture to the woman who was having twins and husband is laid off. You rock. I also saw the crib from J.C. Penny's, that is one that I am looking for for my daughter whose baby is due in October. Will check out that website.

Also, have wanted to email you before and haven't but now with mother's day it seems appropriate. I don't know if anyone has ever told you how extremely glowing you are when you are talking to to kids and when you hug them how much your face lights up. It brightens my day when I see the kids on your show and how much they seem to mean to you. Keep it up.

dear ellen,
i'm a mom of 4 and nana to 1 granddaughter, ava
grace mcgrew. she's 4 now and her dad phillip,
is on his second tour in iraq. my daughter,
kelly, hooked me up to your show a couple of years
ago. you bring such a natural, funny, happy, point
of view to me. when i'm down and lonely, you cheer
me up. i know you have that gift. your right about
that unconditional love that mothers have. i have
it for mine. if you read this e-mail, if your inclined to say hello to my girls at fort bragg, nc
kelly and ava, tell them how much i love them and
miss them.
kelly is 28, and born on superbowl sunday l980
her sister stacy, is 27. they were so much like
chester and his big bro, with the biting.
ricky jr. is 22, born on valentines day l986
the baby daniel is 18, and hopefully graduating
this year. he's the toughest. tomorrow is mother's day, and i don't know if any of my children will acknowledge it. but, that doesn't
bother me cause i know they love me, but their
always mad at me. i guess i should've been more
selfish and career minded. not! my children were
my life. tell them that if you can. cause they
don't get it. thank you for being you.
yours truly, nanci j. hennessy
