Dear Ellen,I've tried to enter everything that I can, for your stimulus package giveaway's. I've probably missed some, between going to the cancer hospital for my husband, and going to school. If You ever get to my area, I really wish you would think of comming our way. We live in, Warsaw, Ill. Our town has about 1800 people living here. I am just asking for your stimulus package to come here. Our circumstance's are very bad. I lost my job of 21.6 years on December 30,2008. My husband lost yet another factery job about 8 years ago, although he did find a part time job at a small car repair shop. He has found out 2 weeks ago that he has, throat, tonsil and neck, lymphnode, cancer. He has since found that the begining of October that he no longer has a job. If you have a chance to put him in one of your helpful packages, would you please try to get him in game? Actually all I need is staples, white out, and other things to try to keep his appointments and Dr.'s appointments arranged,in his booklet and folder.

Hi, my name is Mary. I’m a dedicated mother of a fifteen year old. She attends a private school close to us about 20 miles away. Our Elementary school years were awesome. She tested into a Magnet Program at a middle school level because of the school district we live in not being the safest. She attended school there for 6th and 7th grade. She was voted cutest girl both years in a row. She participated in volleyball, basketball, and track and she played alto sax in band. She was liked very much by all the teachers. The trouble started the next year. Some Hispanic girls started threatening her everyday and waited for her between classes to Follow her to her next class and harass her. She would text me at work and say please come get me now! when they turned on the heat really bad. She was bullyed daily now. I visited the school to talk to the principal about what was happening to my daughter on a daily basis. He asked me if I knew why this particular group of girls did not like my daughter. Of course I said no and he went on to tell me they were jealous because the Hispanic boys all liked her. They could not give me any comfort in leaving my daughter there at a very diverse school with hostility. I went home trying to figure out what to do.
I enrolled her in a private school she has been there for two years 8th & 9th grade. I am having trouble on my salary alone to pay for it. We qualify for student aid. Tuition is around $10,000. They (Fasfa) only award up to ½ of that. $5000.00 over 9 months is 500.00 a month. The first year my uncle and a friend 1/3 rd tuition with me.
The second year my uncle and my self halfed it. He got busy remodeling his house and He decided not to honor his commitment and left me with a 2500.00 balance. I borrowed $1800.00 from a friend just to get her grades at the end of the year.
Now it’s time for her third year here at this school. I am starting out by owing my best friend in the world $1800. Plus This years tuition, books, and enrollment $5000.
I just took my ex-husband since 1995 back to court. He is not and has chosen to not to be in her life since she was two. Despite missing him she’s such a good well rounded kid with a strong character because of it. She was in choir, soccer, softball, volleyball last year and spanish . She just tried out this summer for Cheer to do something different this year and made it. I had mixed emotions I didn’t know if I wanted her to make it or not thinking only of the money of course . I only make $29,500 a year. My ex is on probation as of last month, What a winner he turned out to be. Bottom line I have no child support coming in to help make payments on her tuition.
I have never been off work, I work hard, I work 40 hours a week on my primary day job and on the side do a direct sales business and am comtemplating taking on a third direct sales job . I don’t know how I am going to do this this. I walk around stressed out and cry a lot these days and stay confused as how to make this happen. She has 3 years left in high school and I believe the future is in the hands of our children. She is worth it. She is everything to me
She won medals in choir, undefeated in soccer and softball. Her coach thinks she can go on a softball schlorship to college. I hope so.
thanks for any suggestions or ideas. I've never reached out like this.

Hi Ellen & Ellen fans! I'm in a very bad situation!! Me and my 2 sons (& 2 dogs) are being evicted from our rented duplex in new york state. We need a place to live by Aug. 1. I've been looking for another place-but when asked by a landlord"do you have a job?" I have to answer-No. I'm perm. partially disabled from a domestic violence incident and injury-3 back and 2 neck surgeries. So, we need an angel in our lives to help us find a place to live-that will take 2 small, clean dogs. I could pay rent/mortgage every month. Need help finding a place. Getting close to the end of July--getting very scared!!!

I've just got to respond to "Connie" who says that she loves the animals on her farm but that cattle were "meant to be eaten". I never could understand this logic: we care for our cats, dogs, sweet bunnies in the yard, ducks in the pond, horses, chimps, penquins and the like..... BUT now these 3 animals in the USA: cows, pigs and chickens - they're "food". Where's the logic in that? Except that someone is making money growing and killing their flesh and selling it as "meat"? I'm sorry if your family's income is tied to this cruel and UNNCESSARY business - perhaps this is a great time to re-evaluate and change to something more ethical? Raise any one of the dozens of healthy vegetables, wheat and grains instead? The tipping point is indeed a short time ahead.... now would be a great time to adjust to the market that will open once more people inevitably become vegetarian or vegan.

Ellen - love your show.... thanks for directing your audience to a more compassionate and healthy life style..... You go girl! And stay out of that closet and stay VEGAN!

Hey There Ellen I'm 26 years old and I've decided to get a lap band but others have recommended the gasbypass. I thought my partner would be excited for me to decide upon this. But she isnt, she doesn't realize how hard it is to loose 165lbs. She doesn't support me and makes me doubt my decision. I'm sick of failling diets and I don't want to be over weight all my life.

I stopped smoking about 45 days ago and I swear-it feels like I have gained that much weight.

It has got to be a better way.

Diary of a Non Smoker

Day 1: May 29, 2008
Last night I posted a comment about how I was completely inspired..and decided last night to quit smoking.

Today, I am a non-smoker.

It is now exactly 24 hours after my LAST 2 cigarettes..I have not smoked at all since the last 2.........Overall, today has been good, as far as the cravings are concerned........I have been trying to keep busy so I don't pay attention to the cravings......are they there? sure..but I am trying not to pay attention.....

Hi Ellen,

I'm so excited that you're including so many guests talking about healthy and compassionate living. I know you'll have your critics, but you follow your heart and you'll do fine!

Yesterday you had Kathy Freston on your show and was discussed to hear another person go on and on about improving your life without MEAT. My husand and his family raise cattle for a living. Yes, we raise them for food because that is what their for and it's how we get make a living in this country!! By you endorsing her "no meat" idea is influencing people who watch your show. Maybe you don't care cause you are soooooo rich, but this is how I feed my family. We all eat meat and excersise and are all very healthy. Maybe you should teach moderation in eating instead! I use to love your show and now I am so angered and feel very betrayed. We NEVER watch Oprah because of that whole "beef" scandal she was in down in Texas. Yes, you people have "freedom of speech" on you shows and can say what you want and it makes me so mad that you don't even realize who's livelyhood you may be hurting in the process. I love animals too. We have a farm with many of them including horses, but cattle are meant to be comsumed by humnans! If you don't choose to eat meat that's fine, but don't tell people how to live. Beef provides iron, protein and many many other vitamins essencial for good health. As if times are tough enough these days with the high cost of gas, food and living I have to sit down and listen to this CRAP on your show. Thanks for nothing and you just lost a good viewer, and I will spread the word about how you feel about America's beef produces.

Hi Ellen, love you and your show. I have a friend, Lori Wikdahl with MS who went on a journey of 5 million steps she walked across Canada to raise money and awareness about this disease. It took her 10 1/2 months to complete her trek, this was in 2003. Last year she challenged herself to the "Great Walk" a 63.5 km. walk from Tahsis to Gold River on Vancouver Island. The walkers have 16 hours to complete the walk, my friend ,Lori finished in 121/2 hours. She is walking again this year and is raising money for the Fraser Valley Humane Society. She recently lost her dog, 8 year-old Rancho, a rottweiller who went on the Canada crossing with her. She is an amazing woman with an amazing spirit and a constant inspiration to me as well as to all who know her.

Ellen, thank you for welcoming Kathy Freston, author of "Quantum Wellness: A Practical Guide to Health and Happiness" on the show. When Kathy urged everyone to get on the road to better health and happiness -- I started right away. Today my grand daughter and I went out and flew a kite. It was soooo much fun. We used a Pocket Parafoil kite which comes in a little pouch. They are very easy to use and are great exercise too. Try it sometime when someone tells you to "go fly a kite"... even when you are not told to "go fly a kite":-) Try it...you'll like it too!!!
