Melissa, accept the fact that SP got fired or replaced whatever suits you because they waited too long for him to get his surgery done. SP is not a team player. He spell Team with letter "I" on it. Just because he needed surgery, life stops for everyone on the group. Journey made a wise decision to move on withour him. Journey is Journey. Steve Perry was just once part of Journey. That is the reason why Journey still exists because of their music. They have survive without Perry. If you are one of the people waiting for them to reunite with Perry. Get real. Journey does not belong to Perry. I hope you're not waiting for the Beatles to reunite. If you are a real Journey fan, go to Walmart stand in line and get a copy of their new CD.

What matter's is that Journey and the new lead singer are touring...Moments are everything and nothing last forever...that's true in a matter of things, life and things we do. Bravo to the new revelation of journey!

Ok let's get a few facts straight here cause if your a real journey fan you know all this anyway..steve perry didn't get fired he had major hip surgery and the rest of the band didn't want to wait for him. HE DIDN'T GET FIRED!! and the only only guy that has sounded remotely good with journey was Jeff Scott Soto because he didn't try to sound like steve perry like this new guy and steve augeri did. this new guy will not last cause like all the others they will find a reason to fire him eventually.. probably because he clashes with jonathan cain and neal shaun's massive egos!!!

I don't think 90 percent of the positive commentor said anything that SP isn't a legend. We the people of the Philippines just greatful that AP is living his dream and doing what he love to do BEST which is SINGING. I for one support him coz AP represent our country. What's bad about that? Nobody replacing anyone but SP CHOOSE to have himself replace.

So Lisa of CT if Steve Perry and Journey is so magical together. Is your expectations that the rest of the band members wait for him to come back at later age, when it's possible to replace him before the rest of them goes to retire?

What's magical now 2008 is that they Journey made it possible for us to see and hear them again! However making you believe me that Steve Perry isn't coming back is impossible coz you're still living in Lisalalala land in CT.

I just dont understand why people are upset at AP when in fact he did not replaced SP. Steve Perry has been long gone before Arnel showed up. Remember, Arnel did not apply for the job. Journey found him and invited him for audition. I've seen several interviews of Steve Perry and he said that he doesn't have the passion for touring and music anymore with Journey. In short, he abandoned all you Perry lovers. But as they say, life goes on and Journey must move forward. I love Journey past, present and future. Sometimes you have to face the truth that the music of Journey will continue even without Perry. The group waited for SP for 2 years and he just doesnt care. Perry lovers are upset because Journey is still alive and well and doing great without SP. They are upset that with AP, Journey will continue making great music. They have so much confidence on AP that they re-recorded their Dirty Dozen with him. The fact is SP cant sing anymore, accept that. Give the new guy a break he deserve.

Unfortunately...I am not impressed by Journey's new choice...not that he's a bad singer...he just isn't Steve Perry...Steve Perry & Journey were magical! Each & every band member in the early years...there will never be another Journey for me again unless Steve Perry comes out of retirement and they work out their differences...Can you imagine what it would be like for the Journey of the 80's to get back together for a reunion tour?! They would sell out before the ink dried on the tickets! I put it right up there with a once hoped for Beatles reunion!

AP DID NOT replaced SP. SP has been long FIRED before AP took the job. Life goes on and the train have to keep moving. During the CBS interview of the group, it seems like they tried to contact him. Journey have been waiting for SP for a long time. People should get pissed at SP not AP. I think Steve Perry doesn't give F*** about their fans. He is sitting in his house in San Diego getting fat from royalty. He doesn't want to come back to journey because he does not have the voice anymore. For all you Perry lovers, your idol deserted you all, accept it. Journey will move on without SP. Thanks Journey for giving AP the chance, he deserves it.

OMG! the new lead singer rocks! i got goosebumps and almost teard up,when i heard them. i grew up on journey,and to know they will sound like that in san diego makes me smile from ear to ear!

I am so tickled by the comments! Positive and negative.I am an enormous Journey fan since 1978 and you know folks things never stay the same.I am now 44 years old and would love to turn back time for myself! What ever happened between these incredible gifted musicians has no weight on this young man's career.Live and love the music for what it is, leave the comments to the critics we don't listen to them anyway. Just sit back and enjoy the chance to get some of the old mixed with the new! I'm still a fan, Steve Perry will never be replaced, but then again neither will you or I.Thank you Ellen!!!

Long time fan of Journey. My sister told me about Arnel Pineda. I couldn't believe it. I had to hear it for myself and was astonish how well he sang the song. Would like to see more of him! Also Filipino, my sister had married Efren Pineda, but found no relations, unfortunately. Good luck Arnel Pineda.

i'm just wondering if you like the band or just the singer? Journey is a band. not a solo performer. it all started with the vocals of steve perry so i guess they choose AP just to be the whole Journey again and i think they wanted to maintain the same sound from the start. just like the band Chicago after Peter Cetera the got another singer that sounded like him. but what if AP is an american or western of some sort...will there be issues like that (copycat issue etc.)? just wondering...but if love the band love them as a whole not for just one guy.

To Jettzen: I do know the old original SP songs and I love 'em. However, Journey must move on and keep on rockin' without SP. Steve Augery was not bad of a replacement but his vocal cord failed him after several years. Jeff Scott Soto??? Are you kiddin' me? Jeff didn't fit because he's not a tenor, that's why he couldn't reach the high notes that Journey songs require. Have you seen Journey concert with him??? It was pathetic and painfull!
Jeff was a quick fix that didn't fit. AP brings a whole lot of dimension with his own style that has a SP flavor in it. JOURNEY has reborn and will keep on rockin' to keep us fans happy again. My question to you Jettzen is: Would you rather sit in your little dark corner of 20th century or join us rockin' with the new and exciting Journey in this 21st century??? Just ask Ellen!
