Dear Ellen:
Congratulations on your wedding announcement.
My son and his wife need help with their wedding wows, who have a son 5 months old. They are both very special people and would like to make a documentary of their life to help others, with Autism.

When reading about all of these marvelous acts of kindness, I considered an incident I recently experienced. I gave a minimal donation at a McDonald's to someone who stated he was in need of food. Granted, I could have purchased the food for him, but I didn't have time. After giving him the money, another man came up to berate me for being so 'stupid'. He stated that the man requesting the money would probably make more that day than I, or anyone there, would. My response was simply that if the man had abused my good intentions, that was the man's problem. I was going to feel good for the remainder of the day for what I had done regardless.
Another person also taught me how to put into perspective the fact that I might be asked to help someone who might Have possibly helped himself/herself more and not had such a need. I learned that some people can't manage money, or simply can't make it to work for emotional reasons, etc., and that these are actually their very real problems. If no one had such problems, people wouldn't need the good-will of others to begin with. So hopefully we can provide the fish for immediate food, as well as the fishing rod and instructions on fishing, so that we can all celebrate life! May we never fail to do a good deed for no reason other than that we believe someone should have just done a better job with his/her own life. May compassion motivate all of us so that we may continue to illustrate the beauty of humanity, as these comments so wonderfully illustrate.
Blessings to all!
I just wanted to let you know that you make my day everymorning before I go to work. You make me laugh so hard my husband thinks Im crazy. Then I tell him Ellens on. I have two children 7 and 4. So when my 7 year old gets on the bus I rush home make my breakfast and my 4 year old goes on noggin.com until we have to go and I eat drink my coffee and laugh my but off. I work in a child care center so it helps that I go to work in a great mood everyday because of you. So you have touched my life and inspire me to do the same. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Here is an act of kindness: Hold up Ellen. I understand you are taking the summer off, but we failed to bring EMMA your Global Feminine Matrix Speed Governer. I don't know why you couldn't squeeze EMMA and the rights to love under the same laws as any couple into your busy schedule. Last summer there were 264 casualties. You had this entire season for a designed world peace according to 1000 points of light and our common ground (the model, the master key math base 10 in 3 dimensions), but - you didn't. With one moment to save this summers batch of orphans, you just sucked the whole season. Will your didhe about "grills" count to 2 or 3 in September? Do you have some acquaintances that carry embrace "not so dead saint and ism Leviticus 20:13 kill the gay boys", and you don't want to lose the acquaintances as friends while orphans are made?
Starting to realize how blessed am. Would love to help others in my area. What's a good way to contribute time and support for others in need ?
I am in hopes that someone will have airline miles that they could donate to me. I have MS. My most hope for dream is to take my grandsons to Yellowstone while I am still able to walk. I want so badly to take them camping.I live in Boise,Idaho. They live in New Jersey. I need 3 round trip airline tickets.I would need them for the 2nd or 3rd week of August 2008.The boys have been through an awful year due to their parents divorce.
I have volunteered at the thrift store at my church, the church office,an equine therapy group that does horseback therapy for disabled kids, made scarves for the Winter Special Olympics, baked pies for the church bake sales, helped a neighbor with their daughter that has Down's Syndrome, and done many other volunteer jobs.
Please consider making not only my dream come true but also making some little boys very, very happy.Thank you and God bless.
I wanted to think of something fun to do this summer with my kids, we can't afford to go away for a vacation this year, so it needed to be something we could do at home. I decided to host an "Art Camp" in my yard on Monday mornings, the only time I have off from work. It started with just my children and the other kids in my family. Now it has grown to over 30 children! We are going to do all sorts of arts and craft stuff, but the big thing is, each child will paint a canvass, we are going to display them at our restaraunt and hold a silent auction, all the money will go to the Help the Animals shelter!
They do not put the pets down if they don't get adopted and they are run solely on donations. When I called them to tell them about my idea, the lady on the phone almost cried! I was able to get art supplies for the local High school and Elementary, all the left over stuff they couldn't save for next year. They were so generous! The High school art teacher, who was my teacher over 20 yrs ago just looked at me like I didn't know what I was getting myself into. And I don't! We start Monday, and I can't wait! I know these kids, ranging in ages from 1yr to 14, are going to come up with some amazing things, and see how good it feels to give back!
Dear Ellen:
I hope someone comes forward to help my borderline Autistic son and his LD wide who just had a baby boy 5 months ago, and got married in a civil ceremony, they did not know they were expecting, so now they would like to have a proper werdding wows ceremony in OC at the beach and need sponsors, or a grant so he can write a docmentary on his life, and would be part of his story, also wish for a honeymoon cruise to Hawaii, and need a car.
We are praying that someone will come forward to help my son and daughter in law and grandson. We would also like to do a reality show about their lives.
It's 3 oclock, got to see your show.
Love,m

Hi,
What a wonderful idea; seems several people are encouraging us (the public) to do something nice for someone else. This is something I do as situations arise so I'm happy to know others join me in my desire to make the world a better place and to bring a little sunshine to someone else.
Shortly after your challenge one of my friends on MySpace told me about a young mother striving to make ends meet for she and her child. Thankfully according to my friend she's left her non-supportive, not helpful boyfriend. Now she works 2 jobs and is thinking about getting a 3rd. Of course they're only 24 hrs. in a day so that's not really an option but I have decided to either send a case of Similac or a check so she can get milk and diapers for the baby. My hope is that the Outreach Center in Akron, Ohio (where we've been asked to send donations)will help ease her burden a little and allow her to catch her breath.
Ttake care Ellen, you're doing a great job and your show is inspiring as well as entertaining. Great way to start the day!
Renee(Suffolk, VA.)
Hi Ellen,
I enjoy your shows. I notice that you prefer a young audience.?
How about putting a show on with and for Seniors only? This is just my thought. Is this a crazy i
dea? I hope you get this. Thanks, Ursula
Hi Ellen & Dr. Dyer!
Wow! What a great project. Today my students discussed their notebooks that they have been keeping for a month now, which include their noted random acts of kindness. It was fantastic to see how excited my 5th graders were about the things they had done to be kind to others! We were also amazed at how good we felt inside and how we felt about ourselves by doing these things selflessly.
Thank you so much for inspiring us with this project. We plan to continue it throughout the summer, and have a little Kindness Reunion when we return in the fall.
Take care and peace always,
Mickie Giacomini
Dear Ellen,
My relationship with God has inspired me often to pay it forward, but also I as a high school teacher I have seen acts of kindness triumph over mean behavior often. I teach Peer Leadership and Spanish at Chino Hills High and I have a group of awesome kids who work with special needs kids every week. They even helped to put on a dance just for them in March. One of my peer leaders often brings me snacks, and others reach out to other teachers by writing them notes of encouragement. Thanks for encouraging us to do what we always should, be selfless and think of others first. Seems like I've read that in the Bible somewhere. Great show!
Ellen
I received a e-mail showing 5 girls ages 6 to 8 singing the National Anthem at the Texas Tech basketball game on February 9, 2008. You need to have them on your show. The singing gave me chills. I have never heard such silence while someone was singing the National Anthem. I watch your show every day and I think this would be great. I don't know how to get a hold of them.
Thanks
Hi, Ellen! I love your show and know that for that one hour each day I'll be filled with laughter! Please keep us laughing for a very long time! Regarding your show yesterday with Dr. Wayne Dyer--like you, I too try to be courteous on the roads and have always made it a practice to let other drivers in front of me in traffic, stop for pedestrians, etc. Unfortunately, here on Long Island, many of the other drivers don't appreciate my acts of kindness and as a result I've been honked at, tailgated, passed and just the other day I was called a "moron" by an impatient driver when I let someone go in front of me! I will not let these actions deter me, though, and I will continue to drive with respect and courtesy. I figure if my actions rub off on just one other person, that's a good thing!
Ellen,
First let me tell you how much I love your show. I started watching when I was off due to surgery. Now that I am back to work I have my TV set to DVR everyday and I find time every night to watch. You are such an inspiration.
I loved your show with Dr. Wayne. I do think this world would be a better place if we all learned to show a little more kindness. My husband and I will be married 21 years this year and from the first year we were married we tried to do some sort of fundraiser for people in our area. It first started with families struggling from a flood, then we moved to a family whose son was dying of cancer and we raised enough money to pay for the families Christmas (this was the most touching one), Special Olympics, etc. For the last six years we have concentrated on the Ronald McDonald House in our area. My husband and I have been able to donate well over $30,000 to them by just having a party and having our friends join. We have now involved our two children and hope that as we get older, we pass this on to them and they can continue making a difference. Each year I wonder if it will be the last because of all the work that goes into it, but every year we continue because of the joy it gives us to give to others. The smallest gesture can make an enormous impact on someone else. The joy that a person can receive by doing this is hard to explain
My family and I live in a small town in Northern Ontario, Canada and quite a few years ago, as my son and I were going through the Tim Hortons' drive-thru we saw a man picking old donuts out of the dumpster. We don't see that here so it was very shocking. The man in question was travelling on the bus and the coffee shop was a regular stop on its run. By the time it was our turn at the pick up window the man in question had left and we assumed was back on the bus. I had my son get onto the bus and ask the man to follow him into the restaurant (and request the driver to wait) where I bought him two sandwiches, donuts and drinks for his trip. He told me that he couldn't pay and couldn't believe the generosity of a stranger. The experience so overwhelmed me that I could barely speak. I wished him a good trip and asked him to pay it forward if he ever could. I will never forget that day and know that my son won't either. I still get choked up thinking about it today. Acts of kindness are not difficult to do, you just need to get off your duff and do it.
DEAR ELLEN,
I WATCHED YOUR SHOW YESTERDAY WITH DR. DYER ABOUT KINDNESS TO OTHERS. I'D LIKE TO TELL YOU ABOUT A STORY OF MY LITTLE NEPHEW WHO NEEDS YOUR HELP.
MY NEPHEW LUCAS TURNED 1 ON MAY 2ND OF THIS YEAR,
HAPPY AND FULL OF ENERGY. ON MAY 10TH HIS MOTHER TOOK HIM TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL IN ERIE BECAUSE HE WAS NOT EATING AND HAD A TEMPERATURE. LATER THAT WEEK SHE WAS TOLD HE HAD PNEUMONIA. ON FRIDAY MAY 16TH THE DOCTOR WAS ABOUT TO DISCHARGE HIM WHEN SHE NOTICED HIS STOMACH WAS KINDA BLOATY. SHE DECIDED TO REQUEST AN XRAY TO DETERMINE HIS PROBLEM. ON THE 17TH HE WAS SENT TO CHILDRENS HOSPITAL IN PITTSBURGH AND ON THE 18TH WAS DIAGNOSED WITH LIVER CANCER (HEPATOBLASTOMA).
SINCE THEN HE HAS SEVERAL TESTS AND XRAY TO CONFIRM THEIR FINDINGS.HE HAS A TUMOR THE SIZE OF YOUR FIST ON HIS LIVER AND 2 SMALLER ONES.
YESTERDAY (MAY 27TH) HE STARTED CHEMOTHERPY TO REDUCE THE SIZE OF THE TUMOR SO THAT HE CAN HAVE A TRANSPLANT IN THE FUTURE. MY FAMILY IS NOT ASKING FOR MONEY OR ANYTHING, JUST PRAYERS FOR OUR LITTLE MAN TO BE WELL AGAIN. WE ARE HOPING THE TUMOR CAN BE REDUCED TO A SIZE THAT WILL ENABLE THEM TO TRANSPLANT SUCCESSFULLY. HE WILL HAVE ABOUT 4 ROUNDS OF CHEMO PRIOR TO THE TRANSPLANT.
MAYBE PEOPLE COULD SEND HIM CARDS AND WELL WISHES:
HIS ADDRESS IS :
LUCAS SMITH
809 WEST 32ND STREET
ERIE PA 16508
HE IS JUST ALITTLE BOY WHO HAS HAD MORE PAIN THEN MOST ADULTS. SO PLEASE SAY A PRAY FOR HIM AND HOPE HE MAKES IT THROUGH THIS ORDEAL.IF YOU WANT I COULD SEND YOU SOME PICTURES OF HIM.
AND CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU AND PORTIA ON YOUR ANOUNCEMENT
Hello Ellen,
For me, the only way I can grow emotionally and spiritually is to help others. Last year with the help of 127 angels I was able to revamp a women's shelter into a Hopeful Haven. I have returned this year to Grace Centers of Hope in Michigan to finish the 9 private bedrooms where the women and their children live for one year. My dream and goal is to help a woman's shelter every year.
Our surroundings do affect our self worth and our spirit.
Many Blessings, Terry Grahl

Ellen, I am sure this will probably never get to you, but I see your show on occasion (I work everyday) and know the importance you place on expressing kindness every day. I often think about how one act of kindness can have a profound and lasting impact on one person and all of the people they may touch throughout the day. I think that is our purpose on this earth.
I would like you to see my new tshirt company, www.mattersofkindnesstshirtco.com This has been a labor of love since I started this company. I was browsing tshirt stores in Mackinaw City last summer and it struck me that there really is no t-shirt store(that I know of) that provides designs about the simple, positive, and fundamental messages of the importance of expressing kindness to each other. I am using a "ripple effect" logo design because of the expansion it symbolizes. I'd love some comment about what you think of the idea. I have had hits from all over the world and it is very satisfying to me that the message is reaching so many people. If I never sell a shirt, it is OK because it just may plant a seed in someone's mind. Thank you for any comments you can make.
Sincerly,
Kathy Ross
