In regards to gg's comments;
I think you may be going a bit overboard on your opinion of Ellen's "close-mindedness". Even though, as already stated, I'm very disappointed in her lack of support for David A., I really don't think she is driven by a dislike of Mormonism. How could you say that? That sounds ridiculous. Ellen has dealt with prejudice first-hand most of her adult life, for sure. It is however, my opinion, that Ellen tends to practice her power of celebrity when deciding to select her favorites. If memory serves me correctly, she also snubbed Taylor Hicks, intially, because she really was blown-away by Daughtry. However, he was on her show fairly soon after the contest ended. I don't know the exact months she waited, but it wasn't too terribly long. I do remember thinking it was about time. Even then, it was obvious in her interview with Hicks, that she still had HER favorite.
I too, have pondered about the true validity of the American Idol contest. Especially, with Abdul's slip of the tongue, it certainly seems more of a possibility that the show could be rigged. I do think Archuleta was manipulated and jerked around by AI, and the great irony is they will make millions from his talent. Nothing can be proved, we can only be aware of our doubts and hunches.
The fact remains, Archuleta is a genuine article. He is an unadulterated personality and talent that we have only begun to celebrate and discover. The true proof in the pudding will be when and how long it takes Ellen to invite him on her show. Then, we will know she plainly and selfishly, I might add, has her own favorites. It is her show, bottom line, but her role is to please the public. Personal preference really ought not to factor in on such a high-profile show
that's meant for the American audience- (global as well). Her omitting him altogether will eventually show her lack of taste and professionalism. I hope this doesn't happen, because everyone is always saying what a good, sweet person she really is. I want to believe that is true.

People, the reason Ellen did not or will not
invite Archie on her show is because of his
integrity and moral views are different
from her personal and political, religious
views. Basically, she knows that his religion
is against her choice in a partner if you know
what I mean. She probably feels that they would
be on different wavelenths that would interfere
with the sincerety of the interview. However,
that should not matter. David does not judge.
She is the one that is judging him. He is only
17 and already she is bullying him like Simon.
Simon puts down David before finale, because
he knew Archuleta was going to win big. He put
his 2 cents in to dissuade the voters along with
a little help from his English friends behind
the scenes that rigged the votes. Yes, they were
definately rigged. If you have not read all the
proof by now. This show is a farce and should now be cancelled for it's wrongdoing. Misleading
the public as well as the contestant Archuleta.
cherry picking their favorite for their political
reasons. Thank God, that Archuleta was presented
to us before this show closes. I believe this
show will come to a close because of all the
deception and corruption. I'm saddened to know
that Paula, Ryan went right along with it and Randy had no choice. They need to keep a job.
It's tour time. Archuleta has already shown
his star quality and the response from his fans
continues to grow with enormous screaming. They,
idol producers made a big mistake and will regret
their choice for the rest of their idol lives.
Archie will live on to greatness. The best is yet to come for him, he is only 17 and can only
show his fans more exciting things to come.
Ellen, your so closed minded it's pathetic.
Just because he's a mormon is the real reason
you don't want him on your show. That your show
be cancelled as well for being discriminating.
You and Simon make your own show of hate for all
the cook haters and the like.
How typical of L.A.!
Snub him, but use him for own benefit later on.
I just think Ellen could have been more fair and generous to such a deserving guy.
Until now, I have been a huge Ellen fan.
Why would Ellen EVER not like David Archuleta? I can understand (not really) why someone might not like his music...but as a person, there is absolutely nothing not to like. So, Did Ellen actually ever say she didn't like HIM. I think not. I think the reason we are so upset is that I feel there are so many of us that have enjoyed Ellen and supported her over the years, that when she threw her support to someone other than David, we all freaked out. Eventually, in my honest opinion, Ellen plans to have David on the show. I think she realizes the amount of negatives she recieved for the Cowell interview and to have him on when she normally would have had a voted off contestant on, would have been very awkward. As we've seen on all the interviews David has done, he is huge and does a great job answering questions, and he's funny and just gets more likeable the more you see him.
So I think we all need to pump the brakes a little on this. David is and will continue to be fine. So will Ellen. I'll be sure to catch the show the day she does finally have him on. Now that will be a big ratings day for her! Come to think of it as I just wrote that...could it be that was the plan all along??
Dear Ellen,
For weeks and weeks I have been hopelessly trying to find video of David Archuleta appearing on your show and Jay Leno's. This is because, after each contestant was voted off the show, one by one, I enjoyed seeing them interviewed in a setting outside American Idol. Well, it seems David A. never did receive an invite onto your show, and for this I too am quite shocked and highly disappointed. Personally, I cannot get enough of this kid. He is wholesome, adorable, polite, goofy in an "aw shucks" kind of way, and above all, he is supremely talented. It boggles my mind that you could not have found a way to work him in to your show's line-up. His voice is just beautiful. There is no other word for it. I am a huge fan, because, as a musician myself, I witnessed him giving his all and really thinking about the music. Unlike so many other contestants, he didn't resort to just belting out screeching, theatrical notes and then sustain them in order to just wow the audience. Instead, he gave us notes that meant something, whether they be subtle, tender, or bold. Often, I had to remind myself that this is a young seventeen year-old. I found him to be blessed with true musicianship. I feel that your omission of David A. was quite unwise. I have read some of the postings to you...and it would seem both you and Simon Cowel have collaborated on doing a major dissevice to David Archuleta. Interesting to note, is that I heard Cowel also vocalize his preference (David C.)on the Tonight Show the exact night before the finale. No wonder the vote difference was twelve million. Viewers tend to follow their "leaders". Honestly, Ellen, I believe you should feel quite badly about the lack of ethics you have portrayed on your show. It would have been not only fair to give him the opportunity to just be himself on your show, but also it would have brought joy to so, so many exuberant fans.
I find it disturbing that 2 “adults” (being Simon and yourself) get their kicks from unnecessarily criticizing a sweet kid like David Archuleta. It is okay to have a preference but why do you have to tear someone else down to build up the person you like. I take it as an insult that David Archuleta was not worthy of an invitation to appear on your show.
Oh, grow up people...Ellen truly loves all the idols and just because all of you Archuleta fans are disappointed that he did not appear on the show, doesn't mean that Ellen is a bad person. Give her a chance....I'm sure that on her new season she will have him on the show. She is moving to the Warner Bros. lot...so maybe time limitations did not allow for Archuleta's appearance. As for her comments about him...hey, they are just her personal thoughts!!
I am so disgusted and disappointed with your character... you've shown your true colors in this incident ellen!
Ellen, shame on you, you have always had past idol contestants on your show and now why not David Archuleta...girl he deserves a fair handshake...get him on the show and I'll watch again.
I will no longer watch Ellen's show because she has completely dis'd David Archuleta. It's such an obvious slight to not have him on her show. Well, now I'm slighting her. I am boycotting her and calling for others to do the same.
Ellen: I think that most people do not understand your kindness and compation for so many and I'm sure your comments were not meant to be mean or unkind. The two Davids were both very special in different ways, and everyone has a right to their vote and opnion.
Your marriage is a matter that should be a very happy time for you and your loved one. It should just be the happiest time of your life and I'm sure it is, and you should be able to shout it out loud when it happens to you, no matter who you are. Everyone should be just happy that one finds love in their life. I have a personal story of my own and at times its not the sex of a person its just the person that you fall in love with, being in love is not just about sex, its about so much more. Some people do not know what real love is all about, and they condem those who do. I for one am very happy that you are loved and love to share it. You are the image of someone I loved and lost to death, so you cherish all the time you have with your love one and soak up all the happiness you can get. You deserve the best and I'm sure that is who you have by your side.
Take care and congrates to you both.
I would think that Ellen would love David A. because he is really funny and Ellen loves to laugh and joke with her guests. He'd be perfect. She just has to ask a few awkward questions and it will be such a funny interview. lol. Both David's are awesome and I don't think Ellen or Simon meant to be rude. We will be seeing a lot more of both of them on Ellen in the future because they have years of success ahead of them.
=]
Ellen: I used to get such a warm, comfortable feeling while watching your show because you are usually such a kind person and seem to treat everyone fairly. I could not believe what you and Simon said about David Archuleta recently! THE BIGGEST SURPRISE WAS WHEN IT AIRED...IT WAS, NO DOUBT, PLANNED TO DETER VOTES FOR DAVID ARCHULETA ON THAT SAME NIGHT AFTER YOUR SHOW AIRED THAT AFTERNOON. Simon Cowell should be ashamed of himself since he is a judge and a co-producer of the show..but of course he is so rich and famous (as are you), why would either of you really care. I urge you to look back on your darkest time(s) and remember how your fans rallied around you and were so happy for your remarkable comeback. How did you feel when people said mean things about you..it hurts. David Archuleta is a young kid who has dreamed of being on American Idol since he was 9 years old and this has been a dream of his. He has been subjected to nothing but criticism throughout the entire season. He deserves better treatment than this. He's done nothing but give his best....and just for the record..anyone who was in that theatre the night of the finale (or watched from home)witnessed three performances of a lifetime...truly David Archulet's "PERSONAL BEST" and I hope he realizes how many lives he has touched...certainly mine.
Lastly, to those who say he is not effective in an interview, you obviously have not seen all the interviews he has givem post-finale because he has a very cute personality and very funny. I watched Larry King Live which was aired on the Friday following the Wednesday results show. He looked to me to be exhausted and, under the circumstances, I thought he did quite well for such a young kid. (how could you really get a word in edgewise with all the other contestants talking at the same time)...he appeared to be sitting back and listening to what they all had to say. He obviously has a great amount of respect for all of them.....be fair! He lights up when asked about his music...it is the love of his life (his own words).
Ellen,
Love the show. However, I too was disappointed in the tone you took towards David Archuleta when speaking to Simon prior to the American Idol final. It's true that David Cook is "just so talented", but so is Archuleta. AMAZINGLY talented! He also has done some very good interviews. Check out his EW.com interview with Michael Slezak for one of the best. Please consider booking him on your show soon. I'll be sure to watch that day
