Animal Rescuers

I watch Animal Planet a lot. I get up very early and start my day watching, “Animal Miracles.” They tell true stories of animals doing amazing things. Usually it’s a story about a dog who rescues its owners. I’ve noticed a trend. They only save their owners. They’re selfish. “Oh no, if he goes, so do the bacon strips!” Everyone thinks of dogs saving people, but cats save people too. Why don’t they have more cats on the police force? “Whiskers, pat ‘em down.” That’s gotta hurt. Fish don’t really save anybody. Those are tragic stories. They jump out of their bowl... get to the phone… their fin dials “9” ...and that’s it. They can’t do any more. That ends badly for both owner and fish. I usually TiVo through those stories.

I heard a story about dolphins in Australia surrounding a swimmer in the ocean because there was a great white shark in the area. Isn’t that amazing? They were protecting the swimmer. Or, maybe they were playing a dolphin game called, “Guard Your Man.” I don’t know why more people don’t have dolphins as pets. I’d like that. Of course, the bowl would have to be really big. Then there’s that amazing story about the ape that raised the baby. ...Oh wait, that’s Tarzan.

Animals are Angels on Earth, Thank God for all the great people who treat them as chldren.
I can't have kids and my cats - Peaches, Misty and Angel are my supporters and definatlely catch me when I am falling......God Bless the Animals and all those who care for them.

I just read "Vickiis'" story about her sisters' horses. Really sad.
But, she goes on to say that she's seen your show.
WHY doesn't she want to be on your show??? I would.

Hi Ellen...Sometimes animals save lives just by being. I suffer from bipolar disorder and when my mood takes a dive it does so with a tailspin, then it stays down forever it seems. Suicidal thoughts are no strangers to me during those dark times. But I have two beautiful dogs who are utterly devoted to and dependent upon me. When I feel abandoned by the people in my life, they remain steadfast at my side and I am reminded of two reasons for hanging on. Both rescues, I believe they were sent to me for that reason.

~and you have those dogs whose life is so terrible they hang their own "LOST "DOG" signs~and the ones who don't, just don't know or they would too!~

Please read this story I'll try to make it short. I'm a very small quarter horse breeder. I have this beautiful 5yr old blue roan named Dorey. I bred her last year and she was due May 13th. I had her in a pasture with a 6yr old red dun mare named Peaches they had been together for about 4 months. Dorey was always the boss. Anyway on May 7th I was feeding when I noticed Dorey stayed out and didn't come to eat. So I whet to see what was wrong when I seen the baby's head sticking out of the back end. The baby was dead and Dorey was in trouble I new she didn't have much time. I ran and got my husband and our friends Kim and John. The Vet was called and I went to the house because I was so upset and afraid for Dorey. So Bill and John pulled the baby out after readjusting the leg's. Dorey collapsed but she did pull through. Dorey had ripped a little and was sore and sad I'm sure. Now I didn't know when Peaches was due she got out with a very young stud named Biscuit and I didn't even know she was in foal till she started showing. So I'm out feeding in the morning on the 15th of May and this little dun filly is following Peaches to eat. If you know horses you know how protective they are of their baby's so I was worried about Dorey being in there with them. Then Peaches walked over by Dorey to eat with the baby. Needless to say I was on edge when the baby walk over to nurse on Dorey. Peaches just kept eating while Dorey was talking to the baby letting her nurse. Then the baby went back to Peaches and drank from her. This was so cute I thought every thing was fine until the baby now named Slurpee started not doing so good. I called the vet she had a small temperature he put her on antibiotics. Said she should start to do better by Monday this was Sat.. Sun. morning she looked better but by evening I thought we were going to lose her, she was so dehydrated. I called the Vet to come back out he gave her two bags of fluids examined her and has found something strange with her neck like its fused together. We don't know whats wrong he says to start feeding with a bucket like every 2 hours. I'm horse poor Peaches and Slurpee don't belong to me they are my sisters who was going to sell Peaches even before she had Slurpee because she couldn't afford her. So I'm feeding her with a bucket every 2 hours and she can't seem to swallow very good so I've started using a syringe which I'm getting more milk in her but I don't believe enough. Slurpee is still nursing off both moms but 90% runs back out of her mouth stomping her feet in frustration. I can't put her down shes trying so hard to live. We moved Slurpee,Peaches and Dorey up next to the house which was like 6 acres away Slurpee rode in the back of my truck laying down while Kim and I lead the two moms behind the truck. So now I have all three next to the house to make it easier to feed Slurpee every 2 hours. Dorey can't lose 2 babies in one year. Both of these are first time moms and couldn't be sweeter. I'm hoping you can help in some way. I know you love animals so I thought what do I have to lose I know you must get this all the time I wouldn't have ever asked if I could take care of this myself. Anyway what Slurpee's needs are- goats milk, fly spray for baby's and xrays of her neck so I know what can be done for her. Please let me know if there's anything you could do. Thank you so much for even taking the time to read this. Hope to hear from you. Vickii p.s. I've seen your show I love it but I don't want to be on it.

HELLO-AGAIN,
I GUESS EVERY ANIMAL HAS A WAY TO DO THERE THING.FUNNYTHING YOU ASK I WAS GIVER A BIRD CANERY PRETTY BOY HE WAS BLUE AND WHITE.THE CAGE WAS IN MY DINNING ROOM ,AFTER A FEW MONTHS HE WAS SINING LIKE A CANERY SHOULD,HE SAVED MY LIFE I WONDERED WHY I HADE A HEADACH THE PASTWEEK.NOT THE FLU OR A HANGOVER,AFTER I CAME HOME FROM WORK LATE I WALKED TO THE CAGE,AND PRETTYBOY WAS DOWN AND OUT .SOMETHING SMELLED FUNNY IN THE HOUSE,SO I CALLED THE GAS COMPANY.AND SURE ENOUGH THERE WAS A GAS LEAK IN THE MAIN PIPE,THE BIRDS ARE THE FIRST ONES TO DETECT THE LEAK. HE SAVED MY LIFE.

Owning three dogs (happenstance beagles) is the best and having one or all of them rescue me or my family would be the best ever...However, this has not happened yet and quite honestly I hope it never has to happen. That would mean that something incredibly awful would have to happen to us in order for them to get off of the couch and think to themselves..."gee, there's mom over there choking to death maybe one of us should get help for her or the unspoken tragedy would take place...no dinner tonight or worse then that we wouldn't be able to take her for a walk anymore." Seriously, though, I truly admire the amazing rescues taking place by our beloved friends.
Have a great day!
Yvonne Dagger
PS Just to let you know...my dogs love the Halo dry dog food...They go crazy over the chicken stew and simply love the salmon...Thanks. I am hoping that our local Whole Foods in Jericho, LI, NY gets the dry formula in...so far they only have the canned.
