I liked David Cook from the start. I think he possessed a remarkable composure throughout the whole season. He took liberties with songs and sang them great in his own style, as well as, performing well on songs outside of his comfort zone. I believe he will stay true to himself and have the career he always dreamed of.
I think both of the guys are American Idols. David Archuletta is extremely talented and has a huge career ahead of him. But I think that David Cook is a better representation of MY (a 27-year-old mother of two) American Idol. He is talented, creative, he takes risk & succeeds, but he is so genuine & humble you can't help but love him. I was not a huge fan of his at the beginning of the show - I think it was the haircut (sorry!) - but I will buy ANYTHING that boy puts out from now on!! CONGRATULATIONS DAVID COOK!!! YOU ROCK!!

David Cook is a fantastic performer and has handled himself well in interviews. I'm glad he won.
I voted my heart out for David Archuleta, as I believe he is a unique talent. (No, I'm not 12.) I am very disappointed in his treatment by the media, and by Simon Cowell in particular. To go on a show such as yours, Ellen, and say that a 17 year old shy young man has no personality -- that's just cruel. David may not have the schmaltz to speak before a crowd, but he is completely charming and 'real' when he's not nervous. I can't believe Simon gave out those interviews the day before the finale, and think he was up to a few tricks. I am disappointed that you didn't say more, Ellen, as I feel that you are a truly good person.
I will keep the faith and continue to watch your show, but Idol and Simon have lost my longtime viewership.
David Cook is such a great personality. The more he talks the more we want to know. His momma raised him right!! Can't wait to buy his first album!
From the first time time I saw David A audtion I liked him.I had to warm up to David C.So I was a bit disappointed in the outcome,but the odds were against David A.
I hope to see David A and Syhesa on before the season ends.
I've been a David Cook fan from the start and felt he earned every bit of his place on the wall of American Idol successes! David A. is just as cute and talented as can be, yet he still has time to grow and mature in his own right. If he is left to build his own personality and not guided and told how to be, I believe he may feel more like he owns his success. I enjoyed every one of the idols this season as well as previous. Yet this years idols seemed to connect, not only with each other, but with their fans as well and that makes them successful on several levels.
i live in canada so i can't vote but ever since the beging, i wanted David Cook to win. He was the best singer there and i am so happy that he won it all!
You have had many of the other idol contestants on your show. For such hardworking performers, could you not also have David Archuleta on the show sometime as well. I've seen Ellen gush over young talent from U.S. and the Philipines. This guy is barely 17...I think he deserves airtime. It seems like the second place guy is always shut out. I have huge respect for David Cook, huge congrats to him, but I also think Archie is getting a bum rap. It would be a huge plus for Ellen to acknowledge this phenom.
David Cook is one of the most original contestants I have ever seen on the show. I am a huge Idol fan and now I am an even bigger David Cook fan. Between his musical talent and his sincere personality I don't know what blows me away more. I can not wait to see him on Ellen and hopefully someday have the chance to meet him.

This season was the best! David Cook was my favorite from the beginning. I even kept up with downloaded his music to my ITunes. I stuck by him through the whole season. I knew he would win! He can take any song and make it his own....look what he did with Lionel Richies song, Hello. It is a dream of mine to meet David Cook in person....maybe someday!
