Hello Ellen and all,
I really hope David Cook gets to write his own songs. He is a rocker and his album Axium is great and this is his true style and where his talent lies. I guess I was not too happy with the song he sang at the end of idol "The time of my life" and now it is the number one song and selling like crazy. I would rather see David sing and sell songs still going to number one but of HIS TRUE ROCKER STYLE. It concerns me that he may not get to do this with the Idol contract which I believe is 2 years. (a long time) away from his true talent. I hope it is only a year to be honestfi this is the case and if not then 2 years for him getting his own true style out there will be fantastic for him. This young man is so so talented and a great song writer. NOW is the time for him to be getting exposure for his raw, gritty rock stuff and his own style. I do not want to see David Cook singing cheezy songs or non-rock type stuff which may be good for the idol contract or other stuff but really not for him. I hope it is not the case. I know this gives him good exposure and if this is the case then as soon as the contract ends he gets stuck into his own stuff and a great band again--!!!!!Good Luck David---you are a rare talent, great voice and super nice guy!!!!!!!!! I enjoyed the finale. My concern was for George Michael. He looked very ill. I met a few people at work, who said the same thing. He looked pale, and...he doesnt look like the same person i remembered. He had commented on having a cold. I hope he has a chance to read this...if he needs chicken soup, i would gladly make him some homemade. His song was awesome. He sings w/such conviction, and you can tell that when he performs on stage. My love for you michael will continue...you still touch many people out there...Isnt that something about life? Even though we go through alot..sometimes our difficulties and our struggles help us and others as well. God bless you MICHAEL...chicken soup is on its way!!

David Cook is HOT and looks like a rock star, David A looks like a common little high school kid who would be walking off the school bus, not the image of American Idol at all. No wonder Cook won by the biggest margin in history. David A has a great voice but the image will never match, he'd be great on Broadway or something like that or singing to the teeny bopper girls who love him.

Yup i agree with Terry A. The only reason Simon Praised David A was so everyone would feel bad for David C and vote for him Simon wanted David C to win he Said it tuesday and he rigged it that way. I used to like Simon but i think that was cheap and wrong. I liked both Davids i thought David Cook was Awsome but i Thought David Archeletta was better. I don't think his age should have anything to do with it i heard comments that they thought he was too young and David Cook deserved it more, How, he did'nt even intend on trying out. David A has been auditioning and singing since he was very young. I wonder if the voting was rigged also because i could only get through to vote once and i tried for 3 hours, i don't have text so i tried calling from my cell and my home phone and kept getting all circits are busy. So did alot of other people.

Forgot to say I liked George Michaels song on American Idol. It was a pretty good finale, the best they've had in a while. Carrie is so pretty she did a great job to,of course she is an Okie.

I'm so glad Cook won. He was the most original through the whole season. I am concerned that he might of had a better career if he had lost. He will have to do things the way American Idol wants him to and maybe not be able to do what he would want to do, but i think its only for a year he is under a contract with Idol. I do want to say that i feel the judges should be able to say who they are for, they do not make my decisions for me I pick who i like and not who they like.Everyone should have a mind of their own.Ellen Have Cook on your show SOON!!!!

About Idol's season finale.
Simon Cowell played everyone like a fiddle. Was I the only one that saw thru his plot?? He was on several talk shows the day before the finale and predicted that David Cook would win. Then on the show he praised David Archuleta and put down Cook calling Archuleta's performance a knock-out... he apologized to Cook at the beginning of the show to make himself look good before the winner was announced but, after the damage had been done. Simon knows that every time he praises one of the idols they loose, he even calls it the kiss of death. He planned it that way so that people that probably wouldn't have voted, were undecided and even people that would have voted for Archuleta would get pissed and vote for Cook. He's a smart cookie... did you see him and Paula hugging when the winner was announced? Don't get me wrong I like David Cook but, if you're going to choose the better singer Archuleta's voice is flawless. However, I think Cook is probably more marketable and will probably sell more records, unless Archuleta gets signed by a smart record label that gives him the right songs to go after the young teenage girl fan base in which case he would be a smash.

David Cook won last night! woohoo!
i live in canada so i cant vote but i still wanted him to win since the begining. i think that a lot of people were thinking that David A would win based on the judges comments.The best part about last night, other than David Cook wining, is the guy who sang i am your brother to Simon or when Ryan almost fell off the stage while he was on the pillow thing that the love guru rode, who was actually Mike Myers hahaha that was funny.

I am sooo glad that david cook won!! I voted for david cook many many times at the final. My fingers were worn down..lol. Our family loves him!! I also believe the reason we didnt vote for david archellata was that his dad imposed on him during rehearsals. American idol is for the young people NOT the parents. We are soo used to parents who push their children. And i wasnt going to vote for someone who was being pushed by his dad.

I don't get the part about sounding the same. David A has a specific voice that when we hear on the radio we will know that is his. David Cooks all sound the same too but I would not recognize his voice on the radio from many other rockers. I loke David Cook and I will buy his CD's. However, David A's voice and the way he connects with his songs makes me stop and listen. They are two totally different types of singers. David A has the type of voice and sound that stays with you forever. When I listen to him sing Oh Holy Night on You Tube I am blown away.

David C will be the next Daughtry....regardless if he wins or not tonight. I would LOVE to see Archie win.

What was wrong with the judges last night? David A was so off key on the beginning of his first song and his last song which he had sung since 17 was not good either. David C sang much better and really showed vocal power. Were they told by the producers to make David A look better?

I am still annoyed that Cowell was out pushing his favorite on all the talk shows yesterday before the finale happened which undermined for me the integrity of the show. I don't think that the judges should do that whether they like my favorite or someone else.

i think david a. its so good he should be the next american idol hes sweet and i love his voice i like david c. he got the attittude but im praying that david a. should win for he can see what real life its thats why im voting for david a. all day baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can honestly say, and i mean HONESTLY, that David will win.HA HA HA HA.=) i wanted to give DC a hug, since he cried. DA will win though. Not like he deserves it. Anyways, DC does not have to be stuck with the contract, so HA DA!!

I can honestly say that they are both winners! If I had to say who did best overall, it would be archie hands down. His voice is pure and crisp like the first fall day.(sounds sappy,I know.) Cook is good, but I like the little guys voice more.........

ARCHULETA ALL THE WAY BABY! however, no matter who wins, they both will get a record deal without a doubt so congrats to them both
