Not to fuel the fire... but.

First: I left my name Anonymous because.. does it matter what my name is? I could've said my name was Helen, or Andrea, or June, or Hazel, or Mary. I'm still behind a keyboard... and I would've had the same accusation.

Second: Please don't call me a hater. It's slanderous. I explained I wasn't already. One of my dearest friends is gay. I love her the same. Just because I don't agree with a way of life, or believe it's a healthy way to live.. doesn't mean I hate someone.

Third: I also explained, I don't doubt that people are born gay. (I called it a "genetic issue.") I compared it to being born with other genetic tendencies.. addiction.. athleticism.. being very smart.. all genetic. Some good, some not so good.. no reason to hate anyone. But it doesn't make it right.

Fourth: I don't know what Kerns said about God.. or how she used God to back up her statements, but there are several references in the bible where God is clear about homosexuality. The civilizations that were destroyed in the bible all had embraced homosexuality.. individualism.. they were all "free" and living for what felt good.. or natural.. or whatever. See Babylon.. see Sodom and Gomorrah.. see the empire of Rome.. see the pattern.

Fifth: The War. The Middle East. If you want to know why there's a war going on over there.. read the bible. Even atheist scholars believe the bible is an historical record. There's a reason it's been around for 2000+ years.. that it's the most published work ever. If you don't read it for your own religious beliefs, at least read it to understand why there is a war in the Holy Land.. and why a Christian leader like Bush would put his troops there. If you can't understand the Christian-eze of it, there's a translation out there called "The Message." It's written in today's language.. uses phrases that we use today. Read Genesis (the first book, "the beginning" of it all) and compare our country to Babylonia. If you don't read it for the historical value, read it for the literature value. Any high school literature teacher will tell you.. there are SO many books written with some kind of reference to the bible... whether it be in plain sight, like a scripture verse, or whether it be allegorical.

Sixth: Some of you accuse me of being hateful.. saying hateful things. Are not the words you use against me (and Kerns for that matter) horrible and hateful things? It is possible to share opinions without being offensive or rude. I've done my best not to be rude or offensive. I haven't called anyone names.

Seventh: You are right. People are ignorant. And justice will be served.

Thanks for putting a spotlight on Representative Kern’s hate filled remarks. Prehistoric is a perfect word for Kern’s views of the world around her, specifically the gay community. When you reached for the phone to call Ms. Kern I was literally screaming out loud and hoping that you would get through.

Wanda Sykes hit it out of the park with her bell bottom joke.

I sent letters this evening to the political leaders in Oklahoma asking them to condemn Representative Kern’s comments. The fact that Kern uses God to defend her bigotry is especially scary to me.

Thanks again for airing the tape. I sincerely appreciate you bringing matters like this to the forefront by covering them on your show.

Thank you for bringing national awareness to Oklahoma news. I have been networking and begging people to write, email, repost on this issue... thank you for keeping the momentum up! We must raise awareness with tolerance and love, not hate!

Secondly! I disagree with Sally Kerns and you. Homsexuality is as normal as Heterosexuality. Sex in our civilized society is about love, communication and one's personal freedom and choice. It represents more than and is more than just a reproductive act of our species. Certain body parts together just to only reproduce the species does not explain all the love and emotions and sharing that love making brings between a couple regardless of their sexual orientation.

Thirdly! When you speak with such hate words against something, that is prejudice and hate.
We all have it. We were condition that way since birth by society. The only addiction we have is the fear of accepting that other lifestyles can exist joyously, happily together in our civilized society.

I am huge fan of yours!!! I adore you and love your show!! I am a dental hygienist from Toronto, Canada. I was working on one of my patients when I was listening to your show!!! SHOCKED would not be a word to describe how both my patient and I reacted to the comments of Sally Kern!!! It is a wonder how people like her practicing such hatred against other people would get to be in such powerful government positions. As you might know Toronto is a very multicultural, very diverse city where heterosexual and homosexual marriages are both legal. I am now 6 months pregnant with my first baby and my husband and I are happy to live in such a place, knowing our kid will be accepted whatever his or her sexual preference turns out to be! I think Sally Kern should get out of her sad bubble and come up and visit Canada. She might learn a thing or two! I feel insulted as a human being living on this Earth to hear comments like that !!! Thank YOU for bringing important issues like these up because they should not go unnoticed!

I hear on a regular basis about people, young people being killed because of their sexual preferance. It just happened last week to a very young man. This is HORRIBLE AND SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!! It is a Hate Crime!!! and people like you "anonymos" just perpetuate hate crimes with your wishy washy words. I am done. You know... I've been watching your show lately and *really* enjoying it.. and just the other day I was thinking how thankful I was that you didn't bring up homosexuality as a talk topic.

And then came today's show.

I don't disagree with Sally Kerns. I'm not saying that people don't have naturally gay tendencies.. in fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised if homosexuality was a genetic issue... that people really don't choose to be attracted to the same sex. But, addiction is also a genetic issue.. and people don't choose to be alcoholic. That doesn't mean it's right, or safe, or healthy for an individual or a society.

I'm not a hater. I'm not prejudice. I don't believe God hates gays.. (I believe the opposite.. I know God loves homosexuals as much as he loves heterosexuals. Who knows, God may not even make that distinction among people.) I think it's deeply sad when people who have fear/hate for homosexuals act out with verbal and physical violence against them.
But I don't believe Sally Kerns' remarks were prejudice or hateful. She makes a good point. Societies that fully embrace homosexuality fall apart. Certain body parts fit other certain body parts. That really can't be ignored, can it?

I really don't know what to say about Kerns' comparison of terrorism and homosexuality. While they're both destructive (opposite of creative) in my opinion.. I can't say that one is more of a threat than the other.

I know my words don't sound like it, but Ellen I love you and your show. You're a very beautiful and entertaining woman. But I felt that it was important for you to hear a little more detailed description of (perhaps) why Kerns was saying what she did.

Well first of all I LOVE WANDA SYKES!!!!!!!!!! She is so so hilarious!!!! Love her on "The New Adventures of Old Christine" also! I guess this is where people are putting their comments about that "woman" (I will NOT call her any kind of title because she should be removed from ANY office she is in immediately!). This is a good example of how those "christian's" can be so well whatever, don't want to be negative. (and I do not by any means mean ALL Christians here just the ones who use the bible and distort it to reflect their warped views) So you take some passage from a book that was NOT written by anyone but MAN, and interpreted by many other men and you use that warped passage from a book written by men to say horrible, untrue falsehoods about wonderful good decent human beings. Besides that her words do not even make sense!!!! She said that any civilization that embraced people who are in same sex partnerships never lasted long, what is she talking about???????? Sodam and Gomorah? Gosh how long ago was that????????? and that isn't even true! it is a fable written by some stupid man. I am so happy to read that many Oklahomans are so incredibly embarrassed at her words. Well I see now who isn't going to last long! THAT STUPID WOMAN, THAT'S WHO! Oh Ellen it was sooooooooo funny when you called her and she has no room left on her answering machine thingey! LOL I am SURE!!! Well this won't be the last we hear of this woman, my prediction is again, she won't last much longer now that she has pissed off like 80 percent of the human population.
