You Want to Read This Blog... Right?

At some point, we started adding "Right?" at the end of our sentences. People don't have time for answers anymore. It's a weird speaking trend. We go through different speaking trends. Remember when the movie "When Harry Met Sally" came out, people started saying "Hello?" like Billy Crystal did? "I asked for non-fat milk! Hello?" It was really just a way to call someone stupid disguised as a friendly greeting. "Hello?" "Oh, hello there! How are you?" After "Valley Girl" came out, people started using the word "like" in, like, every sentence. But we still say "like," like all the time. We seem to like it. Do you know what I mean? That's another one, "Do you know what I mean?" People say it all the time at the end of a sentence. But it's perfectly clear what they say. "I'm really hungry, do you know what I mean?" I'm not sure. You mean food go in mouth, then to tummy and make you full? That kind of hungry? The newest one I've noticed is people saying, "yes" and "no" in a way where they mean the same thing... or nothing at all. They're putting "Or no?" at the end of a question. Have you noticed that... or no? Like they'll say, "Are you going to the store, or no?" Give me a chance. I can come up with the alternative to "yes" all by myself. I have my own show, for god's sake.

Hi Ellen. Here's another one for you. I was telling this friend of mine "you know" that we were going out to a nice restaurant "you know".....

Ever notice how often "you know" gets used when someone is talking? I used to use it, till my senior year in high school, when in speech class, for our first speech, we were to just get up and talk about ourselves. The purpose of the exercise was that any time we used "you know" or "umm" during our speech, a coin would drop into a can, by the teacher. It really taught me something, and it also caused me to start listening for it, when others are talking. Can be quite distracting, if they are using it after every couple of words while they are talking. You soon lose what they are saying, except for counting how many times they say "you know" while talking to you.

yes!!!

I like Psych movies. I don't remember the name of it but it was based in a psych ward and they all wore blue slippers and were playing volleyball with an imaginary volleyball and this one person's vocabulary was just the word "Hello" and he would accentuate differently each time. Hello.. hello hellohelloOOoo... Hello! It was sooo funny... bust my belly funny!... make me cry funny!!! I love that movie.. I wouldn't mind renting it again for a laugh if I remembered the name... wouldn't it be funny if it was "Hello!" I wish I could remember that movie.. but I can't.

question why do we have to download a photo to enter the contest? I am not computer literate and don't have the vaguest idea how to do that!

My husband ends almost all his sentences with "Right". It drives me nuts !!! I tell him it makes him sound like he is being condescending and he says
all computer programmers talk like this . All I can say is AAARRRGGG!!

So, personally, I have noticed that I say "yadda Yadda" when I could care less about the topic I am discussing.. "So today at the doctors he told me I was going to die, ya know? same old yadda yadda yadda" Its like I am trying to cut down on the conversation... you should try it sometime! Of course should have mentioned the typical Canadian "eh?" after everything "I know, eh?" I swear we sound like we are 90 years old sometimes when we talk, like we can't hear what people are saying or what we ourselves are trying to say...eh?
Love the Show! Toodles!

During your interview with Helen Hunt, no mention was made of Colin Firth (who appeared in the clip). Matthew Broderick was the only one mentioned. Just wondering?

People here say "by their house" when it actually means "in their house". For example... "Where is Ellen?" "Oh shes by Portias house"! So I'm like "right next to it" "shes almost there"? NO they say "shes by their house"! What the heck!

I think that Matt on "The Bachelor" sent Amanda home on April 28th because she said "like" way too much. It became annoying.

"They're putting "Or no?" at the end of a question. Have you noticed that... or no? Like they'll say, "Are you going to the store, or no?"

That is very common where I am from, we do that all the time. Also, to insult within a sentence is common too, it is a term of endearment where I come from. It is a natural form of banter. It all boils down to different cultures. Strange but true.
