Neo-Ellen Plays Neos

Even though it's supposed to be anonymous to keep up the illusion, during an exciting game of Neos, Ellen kept calling her official Ellen mascot "Andy." But it's not Andy. It's The Ellen Mascot, we swear.

Dear Ellen.
Love the Neos. When we heard you were gonna give it away, I had to contact you. I work at Lack-Tuscarora Elementary School. We have about 125 students who would love something new and exciting. The exercise would be great too. Do you know what BMI stands for? It stands for Body Mass Index. Out of out 125 students, some of our BMI numbers are too high. We also have a fabulous staff who are doing their best to teach students about eating healthy and getting fit. I think this thing would be amazing. I am also very excitied about exposing out little back woods school to any new and amazing experiences that these kids may never see. Thanks for you time. Love the show. Tina Kint

Dear Ellen,

I was watching your show on DVR today and saw that you were going to give away the Neos game. I am writing to tell you about my sister-in-law who is in charge of getting donations for our local Boys and Girls Clubs of Metrowest, Massachusetts. She works at least 12 hours a day trying to get donations to improve the local clubs. Her efforts are amazing as she has just recently opened a new club for Framingham, MA. However, as with all things, there are many clubs in the area that still need improvement. A game like this would help out the children and the parents by helping them burn out energy. Not only that, but I believe it would draw more kids to the program and help get them off of the streets.
Thank you for all that you do Ellen. You are an inspiration to me, and I am sure to everyone who watches you.

Ellen the show today(4-28) was wonderful. Loved the Joey (baby Ellen) going in his mommy's pouch. I am the principal of a small elementary school in WI.The poverty rate is 68%, there are 250 children in our school. We have NO green space for our children to play. The concrete play area has one small play unit that is outdated and too small for many of our students. We currently have a 3rd grade boy named Ricky(outstanding boy) who has gone to our school board and the local newspaper to raise awareness and ask for assistance. Unfortunately, we haven't received much of a response. A few board members have met with the students but due to 'politics' are unable to make any significant improvements. We have had to remove basketball hoops on the playground because it draws gang activity as the 'cover' for drug deals. So... the NEOs would be there to fill a hole for our children. Our space is limited so I am not sure where it could go but we will cross that bridge when we get there. Maybe you would consider helping us find someone who could improve our play area situation. Ellen, I adore the mission of your show. I thank you for making me laugh out loud everyday!

Dear Ellen,
I just want to say that i love love love your show. i work during the day so i dont get to watch it so i record it on my ti vo and watch it after work. i just finished watching today's episode and i saw the neo giveaway and i got on the computer right away. i'm not one to enter in giveaways or contests but i think that this is one i should give a try. i think that you should know about my brother in law. he is the youth pastor at my church and he is really great with the kids. he is only 25 years old and he has done so much in the years since he followed his heart in becoming the youth pastor. the group has grown tremendously and they are all really involved in the ministry. he has weekly services with them in which they have basketball competitions, moonjumps, air hockey, and other fun competitions. he works hard with the youth to raise money for these events to be able to rent equipment and buy food. after all the fun he preaches to them and they just have such an amazing night. i thought that the neo machine would be such an awesome blessing for these kids and my brother in law. he works really hard to reach out to these kids that come from divorced or low income families. they would have so much fun bonding and it would be a great way to reel in other kids when inviting new youth. i know that there are alot of entries and it must be hard to just pick one but please consider us in this giveaway. thank you so much and keep on dancing!!!

Hi Ellen,

My name is Cindy and I have been a foster parent in Houston for 13 years.
When the children have visits with their birth family it is done at a CPS office.
The visits are done in a small room with not much for the children to play with.
It can make for an awkward visit.
We have an indoor area that would be great for the Neos.
I can just see the parents and children interacting and having a great visit.
Please consider the foster children!!
Thanks,
Cindy

Dear Ellen,

I'm an 8 year old second grader from Beethoven Elementary Street School in Mar Vista (West LA), CA and I love to watch your show with my mom. I am also a Brownie Girl Scout.

My school has just won the California Distinguished School Award. We are one of the only Title 1 schools to get this honor. A Title 1 school, is a school that facilitates low income families, which is the majority of our school.

Our parent (PTA/FOB) groups are always fundraising for us and currently pay for Physical Education teachers, PS Arts, music, and everything we need that LAUSD does not pay for, which is about everything. They are currently raising money for a computer lab.

With our parents help and a grant, we were finally able to get a play structure on our yard. But, that is really they only thing we have to play with and each grade level takes turns, so we only get to play on it once a week.

I have seen the Neos game on your show and it would be AWESOME if we could have that. It looks really fun and it would be really nice if we had it at our school. Our students would have another day of fun exercise other than just running around on our plain asphalt yard.

My mom did have to help me with this email a little and she said that we could even come and pick it up from your studio. No shipping costs.

I can't wait until I am old enough to see your show in person.

Rebecca Halfacre and her mom Gloria

Ellen: I am a retired middle school teacher of thirty years working part-time for a non-profit business that takes in expelled students from our school district. We presently are caring for 14 students who have been abandoned by their educational system for up to a year and a half at a time. These are not "bad" kids, just kids who have made mistakes. They are punished by both the justice system and the school system. They feel branded and discarded. All come from poor dysfunctional families who offer them little support. We are trying to meet their basic needs as well as social, emotional and academic needs. We meet in one side of an old relocatable building with very little to work with. Living in Wisconsin, we have little access to physical activity during most of the school year due to the weather. This would give them a chance to physically compete as well as develop their social skills. Our school district, by the way, is one of poverty with 60% of our students on free hot lunch. Please help us out with the donation of this system. It would say to them that someone of importance like Ellen cares about them and believes that they can still be a success in life despite their mistakes. Thank you.

Hi Ellen and Staff:

I work at Kaiser Permanente Hospital, in West Los Angeles. I teach New Employee Orientation, I was going to write in to tell why we should have the NEOS game as it would be an excellent motivator of getting people up and moving about and follow through on our message of Thrive; however, after seeing all the wonderful children and other people that are representing schools, I feel that the school system has a much more urgent need for such an motivating exercise activity.

Could you share where this could be purchased, or was it just one of a kind?

Hello Ellen,
I have been checking out the NEOS since the first time you had it on the show. Our Middle School has about 560 students who use the gym everyday. It is also used for plays, PTO meetings, and other shows. I had given up on the NEOS since the website said it had to be anchored down. It would need to be rolled to different parts of the gym. How is yours set up that it is moved? We have so many children who just want to sit on the sidelines, but would participate with the NEOS.

Ellen,
I think the NEOS would be a great addition to my junior high. I teach math at Rancho Pico Junior High in Valencia, CA. Next year,I will be taking on the HUGE role of ASB Advisor at my junior high. The NEOS would be an awesome way to kick off the school year as the new advisor. Not only would everyone be super impressed with me, the students would go crazy. They would love playing it during lunchtime activities. I am sure the PE department would get lots of use out of it as well. I watch your show everyday and I am a super fan. I admire you so much and I know that whoever you decide to give the game to will love it. Please take your neighbor to the north Rancho Pico Junior High into consideration. Go Mustangs!

Dear Ellen,

Thank God for DVR! I spend every evening winding down with you.

I teach elementary PE in Spring ISD in Spring, Texas. Our district has adapted the CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health) program to help encourage our students to make healthier choices. This school year we focused on on making healthy food choices (Go, Slow, and Whoa foods). This program incorporates the entire school (all personell from the custodian to the principal), family and community. There are several components to the CATCH program, of course, one being getting the students more physically active. The NEOS would be an excellent addition to our efforts in developing healthier students. No matter where you donate the NEOS, you can donate knowing that "Healthy Active Kids Make Better Learners"!
Thanks for your consideration.

Hi Ellen,

At our Post-Prom Party Committee meeting this evening, we once again had fun Ellen discussions! This time, it was concerning the NEOS game you are giving away. One of your biggest fans (Dorothy) was certain you would want to send it our way and all we had to do was ask (BEG). So, we have an awesome idea! Every year the Frankfort Fire Safety Committee sponsors and hosts an after prom party in an effort to encourage safe partying. We endeavor to keep our kids safe and give them another option to the party scene that can so easily turn into a night of drinking, drugs and tragic car accidents. We offer games, activities, terrific prizes, a DJ with dancing, video games, volleyball tournaments, movies, board games, ice cream and mocktails, all kinds of things to keep people occupied all night. The volunteer fire department comes in to help and ends the "all nighter" with a delicious breakfast they cook for us in the school cafeteria. It is truly a community effort but donations are down signnificantly this year due to the economy and losses in the job market in the area...... and we are struggling to offer our teens an exciting evening. Your NEOS would be a BIG hit and we would be delighted to share this with the many communities in the area. It could be your gift to the teens of Central NY and a symbol of the dedication of adults who want to make a difference in the lives of teens! The Fire Department would love to spoil you with whatever they could do to sweeten the pot.... be it a ride in the biggest truck, being the Chief for the day..... or perhaps the honorary chief forever!!! We aren't above begging.... whatever it will take to make our teens the winners in the game of life. Thank you ..... and continued success in your ventures in life.
With hopeful anticipation....... Lynn Ann McCoy

Dear Ellen -
I need help. My name is Dylan. I have Cystic Fibrosis and I think this Neo will help raise Cystic Fibrosis awareness. Cystic Fibrosis causes a build-up of mucus in the lungs. It destroies them and "clogs" them. I saw your show (Love the baby wallaby named Ellen!). I'm a big video-game addict and I'm trying to become more active, but all my friends are not active. I, for one, am not a anti-social person. I love exercise, I just don't like to do it alone. I don't care where it goes (school, home, neighborhood) I just want my frineds to become much more active to help me stay out of the hospital. I only have 30 years to live and want to make the best of them. PLEASE HELP!!!

Ellen ,I watch your show almost every day on channel 4. I live in New Jersey. I work as a Speech Therapist at a school for children with special needs. The school is a public school were money is tight. Our school consists primarily of children with Autism, as well as children with emotional difficulty. I feel this game will be wonderful for our school. I feel it will be great both for social as well as the sensory needs of this population. Please consider me for your give-away of the Neo-game. Deanna Ketschke- Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey April 28th, 2008

Ellen,

I work for a radio station in Lexington, KY and i have been doing live remotes for a long time. Neos would be an excellent way to generate traffic and make us become the attraction at different locations . I have never seen anything like that before and thought it was pretty intriguing. Not to mention having something like this would be excellent for hand eye coordination. Please take us into consideration. Keep up the excellent work!

My name is Olivia and I'm 14 years old. I live in Ellettsville, Indiana, although I'm sure you've never heard of it. I think that either the Jr. High or the high school here should get the Neo system. Neither school has anything to do during lunch. The Jr. High only has a parking lot to "play" in. The high school doesn't have anything but a sidewalk to sit on. I just think it would be a very cool thing to have for all of us to do during lunch or during gym. Thanks!

I work in the Activities Department of a Nursing home and Rehab facility in the mountains of Southeastern Kentucky. We are always looking for items to help our residents remain active. They love video games, basketball, air hockey and numerous other games. We have a large range in age difference, so the Neos would be used by a lot of different people! In our rural area, there aren't a lot of activities for children, and this would certainly be a drawing card to get them involved in the community. We have a very high rate of drug abuse, largely due to the lack of positive things to be involved in. The interaction with the residents and children would be a wonderful thing! This would be beneficial to our whole community!
I record your show daily and we watch it as soon as we get home from work. We LOVE your show and we could really use this! Thanks for all of the generosity you have displayed. Please consider us!

Ellen, the kids at my church will love this game. This game will teach them eye and hand coordination, and exercise. This game will give the kids something constructive to do between church services.

Dear Ellen,
I love ur show! I believe Cornerstone Academy in Westerville,OH should get neos because we only have like 2 or 3 balls to play with and a few pieces of chalk. We only get like 8 minutes of recess it this would make the 8 minutes a lot more fun. Sometimes we could play it lunch which is a 30 minute time limit inside our tiny modulars because we are unable to have a school yet.

Sincerely,
Jake Neider 5th grade Cornerstone Academy

Hi Ellen-

I have 2 children that are in elementary school and right now their school is under construction and they have lost most of their playground equipment. They would LOVE to have the Neos game. As most children love video games now, I think those that require some type of physical interaction, not only with movement but also with friends is awesome!!! Please consider this school in your decision.

Thanks,
Kim
