My Thought...And I Do Have One

MY MIND BOGGLING WEEKEND

I had an amazingly exciting weekend ... where do I start? Well, I played a lot of Boggle. If you don’t know the word game, Boggle, swell, then you haven’t lived. Boggle is one of my favorite games. Possibly my favorite. Craps is a close second. It’s like Scrabble, but with dice. You shake these lettered dice in a plastic container and then try to spell words out of whatever letters come up. I know what you’re thinking. “Ellen, you live a very glamorous show business life -- the parties, the champagne, the Boggle.”

I can’t help it. I love Boggle. The only problem is that it’s very LOUD. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, until somebody gets it right, they need to make it quieter. They’re hard dice shaking against hard plastic. The only thing that drowns it out is the sound of my daiquiris blending. And after 2 or 5 of those, I don’t care how loud it is. But, can’t they make it out of styrofoam or rubber or Nerf? Everything else is made out of Nerf. Or how about Nerf blenders? Then I could blend my drinks and not wake up Mama. Which reminds me, I’ve been meaning to ask Mama this for a while now. Mama, why do you sleep in the kitchen?

Hey Ellen,
We play yahtzee a lot, it has a plastic cup and dice also and is really loud too. We put tissue in the bottom of the cup and it actually helps out with the loudness, it doesn't completely stop but helps a lot. Try it? Hope it helps.

I ADORE Boggle!
If Boggle was an orphaned child, I'd adopt Boggle!
I started playing Boggle with the neighbor lady in my pre-school days when she'd babysit me (she let me use 2-letter words), and I've loved it ever since.
My friend and I have Boggle addictions. This weekend I found the word "assuage" (in the 5x5 version) and he found the word "torpor." Obviously, we're quite awesome.
Anytime you want to have us over for Boggle, we're there!

We had a wonderful time at the show! Carlos and Lori went out of there way for us. Our plane landed at 1:00, and they let us sign in at 2:30. Carlos knew I had people with me whom could not do alot of walking. He came up to me, to see if they could do the stairs. Ellen is soo sweet. We will always remenber this trip. Love Brenda

I have never played Boggle. I have heard of it. It's been around for years now. I would love to learn how to play from an expert like you. You must be good at it because if you can have two to five daiquiris and still make up words from letters you have to be really good!! Hee! Hee! Well, anyway, keep on playing and if you ever have the need to Boggle tutor someone just give me a call. I could use the help and a daiquiri would hurt either. Have fun :-)
Love you...love your show!!

I love boggle. My favorite game. 4X4 is cool but 5X5 rocks. It took me a long time to find the 5X5. In some parts in New York I am known infamously as "The Boggle Princess". :)

I don't like to brag, but I am pretty good. Some of my favorite words that I once found are reindeer, saloon and detainee.

You are totally right- they have to find a way to make it less loud. What is up with that?

I enjoy a good game of boggle too! However, if you want (or need) piece and quiet while game playing, may I suggest "Skip-Bo?" I can play that game with anyone for hours, but usually my opponent(s) go to sleep before I poop out!! My secret, of course, are Manhattans!!!

I LOVE Boggle too and cannot find anyone who can compete with me! It's not that I think I'm all that smart, but somehow those words just pop out at me and I always win. I'd love to play against you Ellen! I know it's loud when you shake those dice but somehow it feels vey satisfying, like you really mixed them up well with all that clatter!

I would like to say that i have never played boggle. However i know what you mean because there is another game just like that, maybe you have heard of it yahtzee. I love that game and it too is rather noisy. I bet the creators weren't thinking about the noise just the best way to roll the dice. well until they make foam dice then i guess we are stuck with the noise. but enjoy yourself and keep on playing and having fun.
