Ellen I love your show and the way you have helped so many people out. I am asking for help for my dad. He went through a Horrible divorce where he lost everything while my ex step mother got out scott free. She is a major alcoholic and has put my dad through not only financial hardship but emotional hardship as well. My dad would do anything for anyone he is a self employed painter but here in Tacoma Wa. it's really seasonal work. He has no work right now no $ because of the divorce and took on all the debt just to get out of the marriage. Please help my dad he will work for you painting anything you have that needs painted he can do it. He just needs a break like everyone does once in awhile. Thank you Ellen I hope you see this.

I have always tried to be kind to people and help any way I could, but there is one thing everyone can do. Just always give each and every person, no matter how grouchy they are, a smile and a God bless you. It is amazing how they change and become more friendly. And it did not cost you a darn thing except it makes you feel good too......

My Grandpa used to say, "You never know how your actions might affect another person's life. You could see someone driving by your house, and that person could be contemplating suicide at that very moment. Just by waving to them, and as a result, showing them the acknowledgment they need, you may be able to make an impact on that person's life and give them the will to go on."

ELLEN: I E-MAILED MY POEM TO YOU, BUT NOT SURE IF YOU RECEIVED IT. I WRITE POETRY AND MY WAY OF GIVING BACK IS AN ONGOING PROCESS. I SHARE MY POETRY AND SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME IT REALLY HAS MADE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR LIFE'S. HOPE IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE IN ALL OF YOU WHO READ IT. GOD BLESS.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR E-MAIL FROM WHEN THE CONTEST FIRST STARTED. IT IS CALLED "CHAIN OF SMILE'S", BUT IT IS TOO LONG FOR THIS COMMENT BOX. I WOULD LOVE TO MEET YOU AND DR. WAYNE DYER. WHAT WONDERFUL OUTLOOKS ON LIFE YOU BOTH HAVE. GOD BLESS. LOVE YA, KITTY HAUGEN

I try to be kind everyday, I truly believe that you get back what you send out. That said, I'd like to remind folks to do a little something for all our service men and women. I live near Fort Bragg. I see welcome home banners on a regular basis. The ones that make me tear up the worst are the ones that say welcome home Mom. Can you imagine having your mom gone and knowing that she's in danger most of the time. It's hard enough with all our young men being in the line of fire, but to think that our young women are also there is a new concept that we need to embrace.

The littlest thing can bless a soldiers life. A few weeks ago my husband and I went to shoot skeet to break in my new shotgun. Two young men joined us at our station. We discovered that they were servicemen and one of them had been back just over month. We left before they did, and I told my husband I wanted to pay their tab. We had intended to do it anonymously, but they followed us into the club house, so we let them know our plan. We just wanted to say thank you to them. The look on their faces was worth a every penny and then some. They were SO grateful for such a small act of gratitude.

And I want to remind folks that the spouses of these service men & women are also a very remarkable group of people. I know many of them now and have great respect their solid committments to support their spouses.
God bless and protect each and every one of them.

Remember a smile is contagious.

Ellen I'm a school social worker in Rochester NY. A co-worker and I challenged our students(developemntally Delayed 18-21 yrs old) to take part in this challenge. They will verbally share thier acts of kindness since some can't write to keep own journals. I will post some of thier acts as they share with us. Great motivator Ellen Your great.......Maybe more schools can partake in this.....

Blessings to you, Ellen!
While I was visiting one of my parishoners in the hospital yesterday, we watched your show and shared many laughs and a real conversation time due to your guest, Dr. Wayne Dyer.

Our congregation is very mission-minded and open and affirming to all people where ever they are on their life/spiritual journey. We always strive to be the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus to each other, our community and our world. The segment with Dr. Dyer was excellent, and has helped provide insight into the scripture I am studying for my sermon this coming Sunday.

I wanted to share that I will be challenging my congregation to accept the Dr. Wayne/Ellen Challenge to touch lives by acts of kindness for the next 30 days. I will provide small notebooks for everyone to journal in daily, and on a Sunday following those 30 days, I will not preach the message - I will ask folks to share their experiences following The Dr. Wayne/Ellen Challenge. That certainly will be a message worth hearing! I have no doubt there will be lives changed, hearts opened, and wonderful new habits formed!

Ellen, thank you for all you do in your ministry! Yes, your vocation is a ministry - one that touches many lives, and blesses us with laughter, affirmation, and insight. May God continue to bless you, Ellen.

I'm looking forward to doing an act of kindness every day and see what a difference it can make for me and all those around me ! This will be very exciting ! I'm going to enroll my friends in doing it, too !

Yes, everyday for as long as i am in my career i will be going out of my way. I am a CNA soon to be RN at HCR in IL. Everyday i see the worse in people but everyday i keep in mind that they are sick and they dont mean to say or do the things they do. i go out of my way everyday when i can. Even if i dont have time i will stay after my shift to make sure i have it done. A lady came from a stay at the hospital and wanted a shower so bad. I knew i had alot of showers that day. I have on a normal day 12 residents and 2 showers. That day i had 12 residents and 3 showers. So i sat down and talked to her and i said if i can get it in on my shift i will. If i cant then i will come and get you after my shift and we will get it done. I try going out of my way for the fact being is i wish i could do more then i do but if i can go out of my way and make them smile even if its just giving them a coat to make them warm then it makes my day. but i the one thing i want to do is open a fund to help the residents that come in with nothing. With no clothes because there family dont come in to see them. Money to get them little treats of something. I just dont have the people behide me to help me get it together and start of it.

He has to be the most amazing speaker I have seen, I am looking forward to finding time to get and read the books! I am a youth counselor, I referenced your show with my group kids that by doing one thing a day to help someone the happier they will become, as well as my family. It struck me when he gave the statistics about the amount of children on medication for depression. I am extremely against medication which is strange for the job I have. I hope to help these children learn this life skill through alternatives to medicine. I have also challenged my children in group to the challenge you have given your audience. Low and behold I was in a parking lot where a mans car would not start after group so I offered a jump to him. It was strange to see his expression of "Did she really ask me if she could help?". It is sad to think people are suprised when someone offers help. I can't wait to share how I felt with my kids during our next group session tomorrow.

i think negativity is black energy
contributing to emotional,spiritual,and body ills.

Remember the little boy on your show that fought cancer invisioning fighters killing his cancer cells and he is now in remission!!!!!!!! Ryan?? I forget. He's been on your show 2 times and you have a seat in his name!

Being positive or giving like God is white light.. healing energy.

I saw someone on tv that was highly spiritual and they were in front of the camera but they were transparent on film. The person said it was 'cause they were highly spiritual. They are more spirit than body form.

I watch a lot of tv.

I was watching hauntings today on Discovery and they mentioned that evil feeds on disharmony. Hmm...interesting.
They don't like salt or godliness either. Matter
of fact they run from it...so positiveness is our natural weed killer!!!

I like analogies! stories!

Ellen,

I have a blog and after watching this on your show, decided to not only take the challenge, but then to blog about it too. What I do, the reactions, the outcomes.

I'm really looking forward to it!

I view myself as a very kind and compassionate person and I am going to take on this project to be even more intentional. I work at a school that is closing in June (The school I worked at last year closed last June too.) and the students, staff and community are all in pain as everyone deals with the uncertainty of change. I've already taken some actions, but I'm going to be even more pro-active and I'll experiment with recording them and my thoughts in a journal.

After watching your show today, I decided to take a box of little notebooks to my book club tomorrow night. There will be ten very intelligent women there to start off on this month long project of kindness. My hopes will be that it will feel so good to spread this kindness that it will not stop after 30 days. Thank you for the avenue

Dear Ellen: My wife, children and I are certainly going to offer more kindness to those that we encounter. Keeping it simple is the key to Kindness. Holding the door open for the person behind you, letting the person go ahead of you in traffic and so many more daily acts of kindness should be effortless. Doing these acts of kindness without expecting a reward other than the warmness in your own heart will make this World more pleasant. The pop singer Jewel sings it best in her "Hands" - "In the end, only kindness matters...." Having her sing this beautiful song on your show during your "Kindness Challenge" would be great. This song could be the theme song for this segment of your Show. Thank you for all of the kindness that you offer this World1 Sincerely, Jim Clifton, Brewton, AL.

Today at the grocery, I let a gentleman with fewer items go in front of me in line...just a tiny thing...but he smiled and thanked me twice!
Later, after doing my volunteer work at the library, I went to a fast food chain for a sandwich. I handed the cashier a $5 bill. He took it, turned to the register and then back to me and said, "You gave me a $20, right?" I said, "No, sir, it was just a $5" He thanked me several times...but when I got home and opened my dinner, he had slipped a coupon book for 7 free Frostys into my bag! Wow. He was KIND because I was HONEST. What a great world it could be if we would all make these small gestures everyday.

I think that once people commit to your Random Acts of Kindness month that they will find it hard to stop with one or two acts a day. It is like a "high" on life. Thank you for opening my eyes. I have started my journal.

Ellen,
I caught the tail end of your show this afternoon, and little did I know you were starting your act of kindness month. On my way out to see my 92 year old grandmother this afternoon, I go out to see her 2-3 times a week, do her grocery shopping and help her with whatever she needs. Anyways, on my way out there today, I was driving along on a pretty busy street, there were a bunch of cars stopping up ahead, and as I got closer, there was an elderly man walking in traffic. The people in the cars just kept going by, honking, and yelling at the man. I pulled up slowly beside him and asked him if he needed help, but unfortunately he did not speak English. So, I stopped my car, and assisted the disoriented elderly man to the side of the street. Fortunately, a police officer pulled up behind me and put a call into the station to see if there were any reports of a missing elderly man, the police officer also spoke Spanish, which helped quite a bit. The police officer sent me on my way and assured me that he would find out where the elderly man was from and make sure he got home..

I always try to do Random Acts of Kindness. Things like holding a door for an elderly or handicapped person are so easy to do.

I work with my local hospital auxiliary. It doesn't take a lot to put a smile on another person's face.

I'll try to find other ways to help others. Thanks for the challenge, Ellen!

I seen todays show and Ellen and Dr. D made me remember how great it feels to do a good deed, kindness or say something to make someone elses day better.

I accept this challenge to do a kindness for others daily.

Though I am unemployed and take care of my elderly mother I am willing to reach out to others to make a blessing in their lives.

So Ellen, this is me saying Yes!
