Join Ellen and Dr. Wayne Dyer in Their 'Month of Doing Good' Challenge!

On Tuesday, Ellen and Dr. Wayne Dyer challenged everyone in the audience to do as many good deeds and selfless acts as they can for the next month. They want everyone to write it down in a journal and then tell them about their good deeds here. Whether it’s helping an old lady across the street, rescuing a lost kitty or contributing to a food bank, Dr. Dyer insists that you’ll feel just as good as the person you helped. We can’t wait to hear all of the fantastic things you’re gonna do!

Hi Ellen, Frist off I would like to say CONGRATS to you and Portia. I know you two are very happy. I love to help people. I don't have much but I would share it with anyone that needed it. I took in a homeless man for over 2 years and never asked him for anything. He didn't have any money so his family didn't want him nd he was old and sick but someone had to help him. And I would do it again and again.I let my best friends son stay with me andhe almost burned my apartment down not once but twice.Oh and I wanted to add that it was great seeing Tony on the other day.Stryker is good but Tony was like the best. I sure miss seeing him but he looks happy.Take care and looking forward to seeing your new digs.

My son Andrew has done a good deed as he raised over 1 million pennies which is $10,000.00 as he completed his goal this year. He raised $10,250.00 and donated to his school. He is always thinking of others before himself. It is some good positive news for a change. He has received a lot of compliments for his act of kindness.

Hi.please send me Dr Dyer's email if you can.i need it

Dear Ellen,
I would like to acknowledge my wonderful mother for all of the great things she does for our family and our community. My mom and dad are very active with the local Mooseheart Orphanage here in Illinois and every year they do the Toys for Tots shopping for 30 plus underpriviledged little children. My dad even dresses up as Santa to give the gifts out to the needy kids. My parents are also very active with local community charity, most notable, Catholic Charities. Mom mom has also served as Vice President on the Ath School Board, worked as our Travel Team Secretay and Team mom, and brought food, drinks and popsickles to my entire football and baseball team over the past ten years, They also donate food and clothing to less fortunate people. And most notable, they take in very sick foster babies that have been abused and even some going through drug withdrawl. In most recent months, my mom has nursed a very sick little boy back to health after a lengthy drug withdrawl and hospital stay. She devoted all of her time and love to us, her own biological kids as well as the needy little one's. She stays up until midnight evey day washing our baseball uniforms and sick babies spit up clothing and she gets up at the crack of dawn. In addition, she is now planning on adopting the little boy she and our dad have nursed back to good health, and they will soon be taking in another little one that has been abused and neglected. My mom does so much work to make these little babies lives better, and to give them what their own mothers could not. A safe loving home. I would like to honor my mom for her kind heart and giving nature. She is always doing for others and she always puts herself last. I am leaving for college in the fall, and want everyone to know how fortunate I feel to have her as my mother. Jordan Lang

I would love a show on everyday people making a difference. We all know of the big givers. Often it seems to the average person that they cannot make a difference. A cause seems to large to impact and yet even a drop of water can impact a rock. A show like this would give each person an opportunity to draw attention to their causes and inspire others. It would be a miracle for me to be able to be able to be a voice for the Haitian people and draw attention to their pain. I work at times seven days a week at a steakhouse as a waitress. I send 1/2 of a each nights tips to bring relief. In my waitress book I carry with me a picture of Haitian children to remind me even in tough times why I work. I work for them.

Hi Ellen,
Over the years I have helped as many people as i can. With food, money, babysitting, yardwork, housecleaning,or anyway i could help.To me it doesn't matter if it is a family member or a stranger. I try to help in anyway I can.Sometimes if I knew someone in desperate need of money to pay bills that wouldn't accept any help,If I could help I would put money in an envelope with their name on it and put in in their mailbox or under their door if it would fit,and I would leave a note that said a gift for you with no signature. That way they couldn't return it. I love helping people,it fills my heart with joy.

Ellen,
I just really love your show. Good deeds that I do are just everyday stuff to me. However the one thing that I do everyday and that is raining and training service dogs. My first dog I received in October of 2005. Her name was Fayth and she was my son's and mine first. Fayth was such a joy to raise and train. As she grew older and we took her every where we always encountered the question how can you raise such a beautiful dog and then give her up? Well we said yes it will be hard to let her o when its time but knowing what she is going to do for someone makes it all worth it. We tend to take for granted using our hands and our feet and never give it a thought about using them until you no longer have the use of them. Fayth was going to go to a child and just the thought that this child was going to be able to do things that they never were able to do before makes all the time and work and love that goes into training these dogs makes it all worth while. When you train these dogs it is a 24/7 job. The dog goes with you everywhere and you constantly work with them. You have to be very dedicated and loving to train and raise a service dog. I don't think that there is a feeling any better on this earth when your dog is placed with new owner and knowing that you helped to give this person either a child or an adult a life that they never thought that they could ever have. My Fayth went to a little girl and what a life they have now. My passion in life is training these dogs. I couldn't imagine my life any more without a dog. In fact I am trying to raise the money so I can go to school and become certified in this field. Then next obtain puppies and train them and give them to people that would love to have a service dog but in no way could ever afford one. My way of giving back is this and some day I will do this. But if you ever want a rush that is beyond belief raise a service dog for someone, its so totally awesome. I don't know if this is what you are looking for but this is how I give back every day of my life. Raising a service dog for the handicapped. Thank you for your show and for you. Rusty Bradley

Dear Ellen and Dr. Dyer,
I am uncomforatble talking about the "good deeds" I may have done, and have not written anything so far in my little book. I was at your show by quirk; to accompany some out of town guests. At the risk of sounding loopy, I would like to share a concept that I have paid more attention to since your challenge.
I try to focus on projecting good feelings towards people or animals I see through my day. For example a driver I see at the side of the road, or an accident scene, a person who looks worried or in a hurry, an animal or bird trying to accomplish some task. I think encouraging, positive thoughts for them. If I see someone working on a hot day I hope that they are feeling cooler or not thirsty, or someone who has to stand for a while, I wish them strength in their legs and less tiredness.
If I can help in a concrete way I do that too, but I believe in the energy of my thoughts and project them to try to help and protect others.
I wonder if all the suffering in the world is brought about by the negative thoughts we all have, so I'm thinking that if we could all amplify our positive feelings in some way, and try very hard not to project bad feeings, perhaps it would reduce the bad energy that plays itself out in the world.
Your instruction about not expecting a reward is interesting, because the more you think about it, the harder it is to do anything without the expectatiopn of a reward. The good feeling becomes the reward.

When left in motor home for annual "across the U.S." in 8/01 I thought how I cound serve on the road.Created PEACE PACKETS, 3 prayers in plastic baggie and tie with yellow ribbon. In the beginning we tied trees in campgrounds & RV parks. Then tied wherever inspired to; raining in N.J. capitol, tree waiting for overhead train in Chicago, Museum in L.A., doctors parking lots where we live. I have tied or given out several hundred & have no idea what reaction is. They are hung with love & I trust that they are taken down by folks who are inspired or comforted. I have done several hundred & have no idea what reaction is. Even those thrown away have fulfilled teir purpose for there are no coincidences in the universe. We also include SPIRIT CARDS, MAY THERE BE LOVE, PEACE, AND JOY IN YOUR LIFE AND THE LIVES OF YOUR LOVED ONES. We sign "Patricia and Morgan". Leave with tips in restaurants and in our outgoing mail. Card was created without any religious words, just a message of love. I carry coin purse with red glass hearts and butterflies & pewter angels & hearts. These I give whenever Spirit inspires me. This is my purpose--to promote love, kindness & peace on our planet.

hi ellen please make ur emailing services a bit less complicated n also easily available n accessible for ur fan outside usa

Hi all,

A few years back my neighbor gave me some concert tickets. I looked at him and said "I can't pay you for these. What can I do for you?". He told me to make him cookies. Over the years I have baked him lots of cookies, more than enough to pay for the tickets. Recently I learned that this neighbor had pancreatic cancer. As a result of that diagnosis he is now diabetic. So I can't make him cookies anymore. He's lost more then 40 pounds due to the cancer and it's treatment. Now I make him dinner. I always make too much for myself. Being a cancer survivor myself, I know how important little things like someone making you dinner can be.

Get a gift, pass it on. In the end it will make the world a better place.

Yesterday,
Bought chocolates for the lab while I was at lunch.
Today
Pulled up plants from my garden for Dana for a plant exchange she forgot my plants no problem. I had much more than she expected for her she was so excited.

I gave plans to 3 people at work that were not expecting them, kool!.

Hi Ellen & Staff!

My mother in law Christine Nimeth has been raising funds on her own meritt to build schools in Africa, for no other reason then to educate our next generation, so we can all have a better world. Her charity is called Heart to Heart and she see's this as a hand up not a hand out. With the first $10,000. she raised she built a small school room with indoor plumbing in Kitonga a small village in east Africa. She also used all local builders and local teachers knowing that this is much more than a school it is a community. Ellen with mothers day just around the corner I feel the need to let you know what a beautiful and kind woman my mother in law is. Christine is also a huge fan of Dr. Wayne Dyer, and has been following his words of encouragement for years. Have a wonderful Mothers Day (all those furry babies), all my best to you and your family.

While at a stop light by my home, I noticed a car pulled over across the street from me with a young woman squatting down not too far seeming a bit distaught. While at the light, I watched other cars drive right by her looking over, but no one stopped. I turned the corner, pulled over, walked up to her asking if she needed help. She did - thought the (rental) care was out of gas. While calling her friend, her cell phone battery died and no charger with her. I told her I'd be back in 5 minutes - really. I grabbed gasoline at my home and was back in less than 5 minutes as promised. We poured the gas in the car and it still didn't start. Folks were stopping right next to us for the traffic light and yet no one even rolled down the window to offer help. Then...AAA showed up just by chance and helped get the rest of the gas in and started the car right up. The young woman offered to pay me many times. Each time I told her to pay it forward. It feels really good to give to someone else. I suggested if she really wanted to pay someone - give it to the AAA men. She did, they accepted. I received a hug - the best thank you available!!!!!

hi ellen, first and far most let me tell u that your show makes me very happy and i cant wait each day to watch you and your guest. my good deed is to me just doing what i feel is right, not so much a good deed, i mow my elderly neighbors yard twice a month, i take one neibbor to her dialysis treatment when her husband cant which i load and unload the wheelchair and get her inside for her treatment, also every friday i take my elderly father who lives in a house that most couldnt possible live in, after the hurricane several years ago here in fla he lost his roof which he did get help financally for roof but not inside and entire home was soaked from floor walls to ceiling and my dad lives on 800 a month and i cant afford to fix his house either, just a horrible condition, but back to what i can do, which i pick him up every friday and take him to garage sales and thrift stores and to lunch it really brightens up his little world. but i do love him even though he is my step father. and i bake cakes and other good treats to give to all neigbors and my dad as often as i can. i would love to get some help for him somehow someway as there is no one else in my family that will do anything or help out in any way, they wont even bother to pick up the phone to call him. its very sad. my precious mother passed away 14 years ago so i have been my 86 year old step dads only bright light for him, and i thank God i am healthy enough to do this. thanks ellen for all the good u do and for being you.
lots of hugs
donna ezell

Tony...that was so awesome of you...isn't it a great feeling, helping someone in need...just wanted to give you a zillion kudos for that one...God Bless You....Denise Egner

Hi Ellen...
I would like to say that I have watched you in everything you have done; from back in your days at "THE IMPROV", ETC....
Anyhow, I was spending my retirement savings filling my truck with gas the other day and at the next pump was a family with a truck that broke down. It was a very warm day for this time of year in Maine and they had four kids with them: one was an infant.
I got thinking about your show and thought this is my time for the "DOING GOOD CHALLENGE". After we determined that it was the starter, I gave the young father a ride to the auto parts store so he could get a new starter; only to find out he didn't have enough money to purchase it.
Again, thinking of you, I gave the man the money that he needed to make his purchase: and what a good feeling I had inside after doing this.
After getting back to the vehicle, he wanted my name and address to send me my money back, at which time, I told him to just pass the favor on and to keep the kindness going.
In this day and age there needs to be more helping and caring of one another instead of the verbal, physical, and mental abuse that I/we see every day.
People need to remember that one good deed will come back ten-fold: someday we may be the one needing that little helping hand.

Thank You Ellen for being you. Your big heart, smile, kindness, compassion, and caring for people will not/does not go un-noticed. You are such a HUGE, BIG, influence to people; there needs to be more Ellen's in this world today.

Thank you...

Sincerely, A life-long friend and fan... Tony

Hello all, just wanted to drop by and say a few words. I myself and my very good friend Brian have also decided to take this challenge. After reading a few of your comments I commend you all on also taking this challenge...but I feel that the random acts of kindness that are being performed should be just that acts of kindness. I don't feel you should have to tell the your friends, family or world what you have done. We are doing this to better ourselves and the world, not to see who can say I did this and I did that. You should not be looking for praise or dbe doing this for competition, you should be doing for PEACE!!!
