Hillary Makes An Important Statement on Gay Rights

In one of the more serious moments on Monday's show, Senator Hillary Clinton talked about her personal feelings about gay rights and how she would deal with the issue as President of the United States.

Recent temper flares, unnecessary truth distortions, and inconsequential party infighting between candidates' Obama and Clinton signal a coming defeat for Democrats at the general election level. At a time when Republicans are at their lowest survey level since Mr. Nixon's presidency, Democrats have failed to capitalize on our longtime strengths (labor and economic issues), and to our folly, have instead embraced homosexual "marriage," and so-called gender- and racial-equity issues. So long as we fight for the misbegotten "right" of homosexuals to sleep together in the marriage bed, we lose potential voters and important elections. Republicans, thoroughly trounced in the November '07 elections, are likely highly celebrating our present party discord. With the recent disclosures of Hillary's latest lies and Obama's ongoing love affair with Reverend Wright, we've virtually assured ourselves yet another general election loss in '08.

A friend sent me this video clipping and I had not previously heard of it. I'm so proud of Hillary Clinton for speaking out in favor of gay rights. I've always supported her for President, but this puts her over the top. A marvelous woman with such far-reaching insights would truly be an asset to America and the world. The scene she described was very typical of my situation of years ago. My partner and I were together 23 years and when he was hospitalized and dying, I, unlike Hillary's story, was by his side until his death. The nursing staff there recognized my standing and allowed me to be with him until the end.

I LOVE YOU ELLEN and I LOVE HILLARY...I want Hillary to keep going and become our next president. I think that Ellen is the most wonderful person and I appreciate her sticking up for Hillary.

Annette, you are clearly ignorant of the facts. I have the paper in front of me right now. Obama refused an interview, and there is a blank under his picture. Hillary sat down with them, and her interview is under her picture. If you had the facts on your side you would know that this isn't just one story, it is many.
And the HYPOCRISY he has shown with the Donnie McClurkin issue is just disgusting.
And no one dare tell me that gay rights can be fixed, or achieved by enlisting an attorney. This world is full of such ignorant and offensive people like Barack Obama, who think that we've come far enough, and make the assumption that just because most have civil rights, that all do.

And to the ridiculosness of the harpers about the Bosnia story. If you all are so into homework, read "Living History." Hillary, as she has said, had already, in that book, gotten the full story out to the public years ago.

And, if you want to talk about LIES. Dirty LIES. Lets talk about Obama's preacher probelm hitting the fan, and his first response was "I was NEVER present for those sermons!" (I guess he was busy voting present on abortion issues), and then he comes out in his speech and admits that he was? It's the same thing. You forgive one for misspeaking, for whatever reason, you have to forgive the other.

Helen,

First of all I love you and your show. I just wish you weren't so gun ho on hosting Hillary just because she is for gay rights. Gay rights can be realized by going to a attorney and setting up your estate legally. You should read the book on Hillary "Hell to Pay" written by Barbara Olson. If what Barbara Olson wrote wasn't correct she would have been sued and she wasn't. She and her husband are so dirty. Get over her. No matter how many times you have her on to try and get people to like her they won't. Are you sure the story she told on your show today was true? I don't know. The story of the sniper fire then the story about the Hospital proved not to be true. These are just 2 out of many lies she has told since her life in politics. She will say whatever you want to hear.

Pam

glad to see hdrc is finally getting on board with the lgbt rights issues. barack has been there for years. in spite of what all of you seem to have believed. but you go right on deluding yourselves. keep worshiping that uterus, it'll get us all in a whole world of hurt! she has no intention of changing anything but her influence and power; look back to see what they really did in the WH last time. get real, do your research!!!

EMPOWER YOURSELVES!!!

Sen. Obama would not even meet with Mayor Gavin Newsom in San Francisco because of his pro-gay marriage stance. It's wrong to think Sen. Obama is the first to show his support to the gay community...he didn't and won't because he doesn't believe in it. Sen. Clinton and Pres. Clinton have always brought these issues forward to help people.

hillary '08!!

to all of you out there who think that obama is the one who has done tons for the gay community...think again. hillary is much much much more progressive on the issue and actually takes a side as she has for years. don't spout what isn't true.

So I guess another "C" student poped up to chime in after I posted my comment about being in Bosnia.

You said "I think I would know if someone was shooting at me"...
I say "did JFK or MLK know that someone was shooting at them" Did it matter? If a sniper shoots at a tree in the woods does the tree hear it comming? No it is a SNIPER BULLET as in not detectable until it is too late...what she was saying was I had to duck and run in case of sniper fire..and wouldn't you want the first lady no madder who she was to be carefull so the President wouldn't loose his wife or husband and flip out on the job?
Lets think people

Also my comment was not partasin for or against Hillary or Barak...my aim was to show you how the statement could in fact be true because I DID DUCK AND RUN AND LUCKY FOR ME THERE WAS NO SNIPER FIRE AND I GET TO SIT HERE AND TYPE THIS FACTUAL STATEMENT TO YOU AFTER BEING WILLING TO DIE FOR YOU AND ALL AMERICANS ONLY TO HAVE YOU TELL ME THAT MY SACRAFICE AND MY PATRIOTISM WERE AN EXCUSE FOR HILARY

end entry

Please stop making excuses for this woman she out and out lied!

She claimed she had to duck and cover from snipper fire!

If I were under snipper fire I would know it!

I would lay odds the story about the gay couple is a lie as well!

I also question the "Goldwater girl's" reaction to MLK asasination. I am pretty sure they did not use book bags back then and I have seen those crocodile tears before!

The professor is in and I would like to set a few things straight--
The Don't Ask Don't Tell Policy (DADT) was the compromise President Bill Clinton had to make to get the bill through the Republican Congress--remember Newt Gingrich and his "Contract with America" well, gays were not a part of the Republican contract--blame the republicans not the Clinton's for that policy.

DADT was the best thing for gays EVER in the military's history. The history of gays in the military before DADT was basically this: If the U.S. was at war you could be in the military and die for your country...if the U.S. was not at war you will most likely be kicked out if you are gay. The military has HISTORICALLY suspended their policies towards homosexuality during wartime (unbeknownst to the public at large) and then vigorously purge those same patriotic homosexuals as soon as there was a return to peace....Read Lillian Faderman: Odd Girls and Twilight Lovers--its a scholarly history text on homosexuality in the United States and it will defend my point to the T. (see the section on WWII)

Next lesson: the misconception of Hillary Clinton "following" Barak Obama's lead
In one of the debates between Clinton, Obama, Richardson, Edwards....and so on (so at the beginning of this whole thing) Obama was asked what he thought about gay marriage...Obama's comment (and I paraphrase) was: I think that is something my children would have to decide....
He didn't want to answer the question. He didn't want to embrace homosexuals and he didn't want to alienate homosexuals...it is what we in the business call political maneuvering-dodging a question that could loose you support.
On the other hand Clinton has long be aligned with the homosexuals cause and has opposed denying homosexuals rights ...she does however have the guts to say that it is wrong to alienate an entire segment of the U.S population. It was not right when the British crown persecuted religious believers in England which led to the founding of this country, it wasn't right when we persecuted Native Americans, it was not right when we enslaved and then segregated blacks, it was not right when we told women they did not belong in the public sphere---when will America and our politicians get it through their head that it is not right to discriminate against homosexuals either? There is absolutely no way that Clinton is "following" Obama's lead it is simply a misconception and a false answer. You would have failed that question on a test.

Lastly- for those of you who think I am a Hillary supporter you might be surprised...as an educator that teaches Government to College Freshman I am appalled at how much bad information you guys get from the news and I spend half of my day trying to straighten out the truth...that is all I am doing here.
As for the Lady who commented on her service in Bosnia and how you are instructed to enter a combat zone she is absolutely right. Those of you who still believe the media is "Fair and Just" on any channel REALLY HAVE NOT DONE THEIR HOMEWORK.
Walt Disney- owns ABC
Westinghouse Electric-owns CBS, MTV, and Paramount Pictures
Time Warner-owns CNN
General Electric-owns NBC
Murdoch-owns FOX-and other media outlets...and on and on and on...This is the truth and unfortunately the best place to get it right now is not on the T.V....what ever happened to that expression "do not believe everything that you read" Or see on T.V.

Remember we are all Citizens of this great country...Ellen, Hillary, Barak, and even George W. Bush is a citizen even if you are gay, a woman, a miority, or just stupid we as Americans don't just deserve dignity and respect we should demand it...One would think that on the gay issues we would have seen this one coming and not made the exact same mistake of discrimination as we have in the past...maybe we will learn next time. As for now if you study hard you can cut through the manure out there that passes for news. As for Hillary or Barak I will not tell you who I support but I will vote for either come this November.

Dont be a "C" student. All of these people keep demanding we all "do our homework" how's this for homework. December 1995 I was sitting on a C130 ready to land in Tazar Main Hungary to enter the Bosnian Theatre. I am a disabled LESBIAN veteran who was actually in Bosnia at the time of this "lie." I'm not sure what Sen. Clinton was told, but We (soldiers)were told over the loud speaker that when we landed we were to hug our rucksacks, grab our weapons and depart the plane at a run until we reached the safe zone, about one hundred feet away IN CASE OF SNIPER FIRE. Not that there was a known fact that there were snipers in the area on that paticular day, but the possiblity was there. It's called "imminent danger." We use precautions like this (telling people to duck) to help people from getting shot. I wasn't shot, no one was, but we sure felt like we were gonna be that day.

Now again, I wasn't there the day she was, but I imagine she got similar instructions. Three weeks after I landed in Hungary I recieved a coin from President Clinton along with the rest of my company, it was one of the first gifts I gave to my wife.

I'd also like to second the emotion of the individual above who clearly had "done thier homework" that BILL clinton did in fact draft a bill trying to lift the ban on gays in the military, since I was actually in the military I followed this story pretty closely. The original intent was wonderfully humanizing and would have done a world of good for people like me who were trying to do the best for thier country and themselves, but spent half of their energy trying not to get caught acting gay. It's ridiculous that something so personal and unrelated could cost you not only your job but your way of life. I'd like to ask the angry poster if he/she believes in freedom of religion and freedom of belief. I am free to believe that your view isn't right or fair. But I also believe in your right to be as closed-minded an bigoted as you are capable of being. I would never support a bill that mandated you approving of me, my "lifestyle," or any other aspect of my life. What I can't get past is the arrogance it would take to live your life always "knowing" your way is better than everybody else's" What about my right to not be you. I fought for my country for nearly six years (I re-enisted while in Bosnia)and yet here I am a second-class citizen in that same country I was willing to die for. The same country I gave up so much for, is so willing to allow the OPINIONS of people like you stop people like me to pursue my "inalienable right" to happiness. But I suppose as long as the system shares your views on everything it does seems fair. But if you a minority (I'm also Black) things look a little different. Maybe it's time to re-evaluate the state of the world through someone else's eye's instead of spending so much time trying to convince yourself and everyone around you that everything would just be fine if everyone was just like you. Not only Christians have a right to a belief system....VOTE HILARY!

Wenlep,

Your thoughts and judgments are as irrelevant as your “love” and “sin”. We don't care what you think. Get it? You don't know me, you never will, and you have no right whatsoever to pass judgment on me or mine. Think what you want, but keep it to yourself and your proselytizing religion. I am no sinner and my life is none of your business.

Nobody has to try to make Hillary into a liar she does that just fine on her own.

Thank God Hillary is running!

The story about the PA newspaper was debunked! Do your homework! And Barack Obama was the first to reach out to the gay comunity. Do your homework!

Ellen is the perfect person for Hillary to go on her show...she is so honest and genuine just like Hillary....although the Media and the Obama Change engine has done EVERYTHING in their power to make people believe that Hillary is not this honest person. People that have known her for YEARS KNOW that she does exactly what she says she will do, and as SHE has stated on ONE occassion she misstated something and SHE admitted it and moved on. I certainly could care less about that ONE statement and I KNOW that she is still the GREAT AMERICAN I have KNOWN her to be for many years.
