Hi Ellen!

I need to take some dancing lessons from you!! You have terrific rhythm. Your show today cheered me up. Thank you. I was laid off from my job last week and needed the cheering up. I would love to be on your show or in the audience. Maybe I will win the SUV giveaway. My car has 129,000 miles on it. Wouldn't that be a dream come true!

On todays show you said you would be giving away an SUV. That would be wonderful for me. 1--beats my GAS HOG car. 2--i'M A RETIRED SENIOR CITIZEN (65-June ) 3--Both my daughters live out of town--TEXAS and CRAWFORDSVILL,IN. I raised 3 by myself so didn't save much toward retirement. Now on SOCIAL SECURITY DISABALITY. Can't visit because my old car wouldn't make the trip. Being on fixed income can't afford a new one. Would also like to win trip to CHIGAGO--IT'S CLOSE TO ME. KEEP ON KEEPEN ON LOVE YA. CHARLENE LEHMAN

Wow,

Read the gentlemen's response about why he should win the suv and thought he deserves it more than I do. My daughter is grown and out of the house.

See I was on the other side of the coin in a way. I raised my daughter almost on my own with the help of my parents and no support from the ex husband. (go figure he still owes me about 6,00.00). I worked two jobs and never could afford a new vechile. Just thought it would be nice. My old Dodge truck (12 years and god bless it. It still runs. Looks like crap but still runs) will get me through till I get out of this pinch.

Maybe I'll write to Pimp my ride or Trick my truck but after I watch the Ellen Show. LOL

my response as to why i should win the suv is i need it to be a father again. since my divorce i have had to walk to work and to get my kids. i did buy a car once which was worst than the flintsone mobile. once that fell apart i had to start taking the bus but as my luck would have it they changed the routes so i was forced to walk. after paying support which i do faithfully i cannot afford a car payment or food most of the time. my luck as been so bad that i could corner the market on pumpkins and they would cancel halloween. ellen, please help me make pumpkin pie! i love you. mark pierce
keep entertaining your the best!

Hi Ellen,

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! There are lots of choices on TV these days and my family and I are thankful that you are one. While other shows focus on gossip and the negative, we can count on a breath of fresh Ellen everyday. You help us laugh, and dance, and look at the positive side of life. Thanks for being so real. We already have a car, but you can hang with us in Tucson any time!

I am responding to "Tell Us Why You Need a SUV/CAR". I need it so I can SELL it, no joke. I lost my husband 2 weeks ago, my transmission went out on my 10 yr. old SUV, and I need an electrician & a plumber to finish the hookups to my house. My husband & I both had Cancer. He lost his battle after a very short (1 1/2 weeks) after diagnosis. He Loved Your Show because You Are So Genuine! During his hospitalization we were attempting to move with the help of volunteers to get the utilities hooked up. He pleaded with me not let him die in the house or the neighborhood that we were in. Some where in the "plan", our volunteers quit. Our son & daughter-in-law let us stay with them, and 5 days later my Dear Sweet Husband passed in the E.R., he was 56. We had no medical or life insurance.
I am 53 & still camping out on my son's sofa. I am paying monthly for a house I can't live in yet. I am on a fixed income. I still have to pay for the funeral home, a transmission, an electrician & a plumber. My car needs brakes, new tires, a tuneup, & the air conditioner blows 140 degrees for some reason. My cancer is currently in remission, but still need transportation for my Dr. visits.
But most of all I really want to be in the house that my husband wished for us. I have faith that there is light @ the end of this tunnel.
I Will Survive!!!!!! Thank You For Your Time.
Sincerely,
Jan

How many years do you think the record is for marriage?

Nope, not 50, 60, 70 or 80..........WOULD YOU BELIEVE 83 years and they still seem to be getting along.
Saw this on our local news and just had to share it. Clarence (101) and Mayme (99) from White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Imagine Christmas ...
6 kids, 39 grandkids, 101 great grandkids, and
40 GREAT GREAT GRANDS. And I have trouble getting 1/2 names out.

Bet you'll think about this one.

Keep up the good work on sharing the world with everyone.

My 89 year young aunt will be returning to my home after a 20 day stint in the rest home for physical therapy. I would like to turn my basement in to a family room in order to entice the family members and their kids and grandkids to visit more often. What would I need? Just wondering what you and Portia do to keep your Mother, brother and other aunts and uncles and family members close? It is a challenge because so many have grandkids and they don't want to stay upstairs with the "old folks" and I thought if I made one night a week or maybe a month to be pizza night it would help. Any ideas?

ELLEN!!!

"You spin me round round baby round round round like a ..." The song... LOL

Yep... this show was a spin!!!... took me for a ride today!!! I had my head out the window... loved it!!!

I summarize with one word:

B R I L I A N T ! ! ! !

ps.... I finally found oprah's site. I don't know why it took me soooo long. I sware I tried the other night and I couldn't find. I posted on question for Suze Orman. She's on Oprah Monday and Dr Oz on Tuesday. So I feel better. I wanted to console her on her loss of Sophie her cocker spaniel friend. That is soooo sad. I feel for Oprah. It sucks to lose anything... and yes even your thumbs or appreciation for things you take for granted.

I loved your monologue today!!! SOOOo Funny!!! Its true... I like variety in friends too and stew is good!!! Brilliant as always !

Hugs,
T

Toyota Corolla....after retiring a year ago, I was certain that my current car would get me through life as much longer as I was able to get around...however, it's not working out that way! My car is in constant need of repair and it's not worth it, so I've been looking at Toyota's and decided that I might be able to afford the "bottom of the line Corolla" although I've never owned a new car and would much prefer one at the top of the line with all the bells and whistles! When I saw the Corolla on your show today I couldn't believe how pretty it was! Corolla, you've come a long way! Thanks, Ellen, for bringing this one out to be seen. Maybe, just maybe, this could be the one for me! As Granny Clampett of the Beverly Hillbillies used to say, "I've got to do some checking and cyphering!!!

An engaged couple asked about how to merge their finances. They don't have a prenup which Suze was not thrilled about. Anyway, the guy makes more money than the girl, but they want things to be fifty fifty. She said let's say he made 7k and she made 3k a month and their monthly expenses were 3K. She said 10/3 is about 30%. So they should each contribute 30% of their earnings to pay the bills. He pays more, she pays less, but at the end of the day, it's fair

end entry

I missed the equation that Suzie Orman gave to the engaged couple in the audience. She ended up saying that they should both give 30% towards bills, regardless of how much they each make. Can someone please share the beginning of the discussion? Thanks.
