Today in Ellen History

On March 18th 1970, Ellen attaches playing cards onto the fork of her bike with clothespins, leans back in her banana seat with the sissy bar, and pops one of the wickedest wheelies her street has ever seen.

On March 18th 1981, (during Ellen's "Circus Years") Ellen falls off of her 6-foot high unicycle while performing her juggling fire routine and just barely misses getting mauled by a lion and several midgets in a tiny car.

On March 18th 2004, Jim Carrey rides a bicycle around the Ellen stage, and falls off, creating one of the most memorable moments ever on the show.

Hi Ellen and All Ellen Fans,

I love Jim Carrey. I think my favorite movie with him is The Mask! Probibly because my son Stephen used to love that movie and try to copy Jim's voice - it was so cute.

Last week I asked Ellen's fans to come together to write to Ellen on behalf of a boy named Kyle Hickok. He has been ill his whole life. In and out of hospitals. His Birthday is coming up on March 25th, he will be 12. He is the fourth great nephew of Wild Bill Hickok.

The Make A Wish Foundation was going to grant him a wish. One of his first wishes was to have dinner with Emeril Lagasse and Rod Stewart. Because he is such a sweet kid when the time came to make his wish he didn't wish for that. He wished for a vacation for his family, so they could all be together. A vacation that to date they have been unable to take because of him being in the ICU in the hospital.

I want to take a moment now to thank everyone who sent a shout out to Ellen and also to everyone who took it one step further and went to Kyle's CaringBridge website and left a message for him and his family.

I also want to ask that you please continue to leave comments on behalf of Kyle. His story touched me very deeply. I do not know Kyle or his family, reaching out to all of you just seemed like the right thing to do. I have also gone to Emeril's website to try to reach out to him - course I don't have Ellen's star power - but you never know till you try - and - I just had to try.

If you would like to know more about Kyle please check out the following websites:

My son and I have been watching your show for a few years and we love your dancing. I used to race home from work just to watch your show and now that I'm a stay at home mom I watch you everyday.

Just watched your video with Jim Carrey falling off the bicycle.
Thanks so much for the laugh today!
It was funny watching him, of course - and watching you laugh at him.

Thanks for your humour.

Hey ellen this is kim and I just wanted to tell you that I watch your show every day when I come home from school. I love seeing all of your guest and you on the show!

Hi Ellen,

I have a idea for your show, since you love music so much you could help promote unsigned talent,
I have been songwriting for over 30 years now...I love to perform when I can and at this point in my life i will be happy with a publishing deal.

Once a week you can feature an unsigned musician/songwriter and help promote their music.

I would love to send you two or three tracks for you to listen to...unfortunately I cannot attach to this message. I am currently working on a myspace page...once i've completed my cd I would love to send you a copy

You are such a people person...I thought this idea would appeal to you.

Hope to hear back from you

Hey Ellen,
I watch your show at least twice a day, I think you are the funniest woman I have ever listened too. Not only are you funny but you are also very compassionate about so many things, animals, people who have been done wrong by and much more. I think it is great that you can instill such a force in people to get going and get things done, I mean, wow, look at all the money you raised for the Brad Pitt project for re-housing New Orleans, amazing, in fact that song should be renamed Amazing Ellen. Keep up the great work, I love you, admire you, and hope that one day I can help as many people that you have! NOw that I have stroked your ego, could you PLEASE let some of us Canadians in on your contests? I would love to win one of those iPod things. Please don't hate us just 'cause we are Canadian, your bigges fan, Cat in Creemore Ont. Canada

Hay Ellen: Just love love you show. Try and watch it every day. Hope some day I win one of the give aways. Keep on that happy face. love you Barbara.

Ellen: I know you hear this a million times a day, but you are one in a $1,000,000.00. I am a single mom, and I don't get a lot of time off from work. I hate soap operas and I'm really not crazy of all the other shows, BUT I truly love you're show. BUT, WHEN I am off, I do not miss your show. I even had my youngest son, Lucas dance with you. That was priceless. Anyway, I could go on and on, but you are awesome. You put a smile on my face no matter what mood I'm in.

I would love to see you in person, TRULY, I would. Thanks for all your information and your in depth, out of the heart laughter. No one does it like you.

I work for a law firm in Halifax, Nova Scotia, but you are much more interesting!!!!!!!!!!!

I am on the Website @ Pink Breen Larkin - Gwen Keating

I would love to hear from you!! You're the BEST, and don't you ever forget it.

Gwen Keating

Hey Ellen, I tried entering the contest for the ipod, but there is no Canadian cities in the entry form. What's up with that babycakes lol..I watch your show everyday as many of us Canadians do, so what about letting us be a part of the game..

Sincerely,

Patricia
