Combination Lunch

Today for lunch I am having curry chicken salad and a spinach apple salad. It's two, two, two salads in one! One of these day's I'm going to have 3 salads for lunch. You just wait and see! I'll show you all! ...Sorry, when it comes to salads, sometimes I get carried away. I love salads. They're greeny and crisp and fresh just like spring. Sometimes I feel guilty about eating plants but I figure if they didn't want to be eaten then they wouldn't have made themselves taste so good. Have you ever bitten into a bitter tasting leaf of one of those fancy salads? It looks like regular lettuce but it tastes harsh and makes your nose curl up? That salad probably doesn't want to be eaten. For that matter, I don't think Brussels sprouts want to be eaten either. But that's just my opinion. You'll have to ask a Brussels sprout what he thinks. But you can't tell me that delicious spinach and apples like these don't love every second of being gobbled up.

Enjoy gobbling up your lunch

Ellen

Hi Ellen!

Have you ever thought of publishing a salad recipe book? I wouldn't mind having what you have for lunch on a daily basis. I would look as good as you eating sooooo healthy. :D

My wife and I live near Lowes in Grand Rapids where that young man found his birth mother. They were on your show today. We adopted two great kids as babies.
What really bothers me is when a person finds their birth mother and they get on TV, almost no mention of the parents who love and raised them are ever mentioned.
You should have had his adopted parents on the show also. We count also.
We went through the fun and hard times in raising the person. Now the birth mother steps in and never has had to say "no" to that person while raising them.
My wife and I are the child's real parent, not the birth mother is how we feel.

wow!your food stylist needs to write a book. I dont know if he/she is going for the carrot look or the temaki look. I swear if that were served all the way
here, I'd probably never look at rice the same way. by the way, im from asia.

Ellen, you say you love animals, so why do you continue to eat them? Do you know how much suffering those cows, pigs and chickens go through, so you can enjoy your lunch? Come on, quit being a hypocrite, go vegetarian. PLEASE!

ELLEN!

I love brussel sprouts too! Yum... I bought asparagus instead but like 'em just the same! They are like sticks/french fries and can be gobbled down like a beaver(ok... corn on the cobb!) on a piece of wood... ok so like bugs bunny on a juicy carrot!!! Brussels are round and are hard to eat all in one piece so you have to be etiquet about it and divide down the center! and then partake! Both very green and very good for U!

I was a bad gobbler today and didn't have my carrots!:( OOPS! Instead I ventured into Subway and had me a 12 inch roast beef on wheat! YUMMM... I did add my spinach and cucumber and green pepper and purple onion! and oil and vineagar! tomatoes, mayonase, honey mustard, ummm black olives!!! tasty!... oh crap I guess I could of had some carrots on there too!.. oh well...I got my 8points towards a free sub! Can't complain about that! I had a very good tasty gobbly lunch myself!!!!

Cheerio!

Jenny Lee,

I think your comment is very funny -- and true.

Will that be a chicken salad salad or a chicken salad sandwich? I'm so confused.

had it twice last year when you taped it twice.
Any how Happy B Day!!!!!

I've always wondered why they call chicken salad "chicken salad," because there's no lettuce in it. Maybe they call it chicken salad, because it has a lot of chicken in it. So, if one particular food has a lot of that food in it maybe they call it a salad. Like if you sliced a bunch of peaches and put it on a plate, you could call it a peach salad.

One time I ordered a salad to go, and I asked for all these toppings on it. Apparently, I forgot to ask for lettuce, because when I got home, I realized there was no lettuce on my salad--just toppings. I was like who makes a salad with no lettuce? Apparently chicken salad does.
