I am a 65 year old white woman. As much as I would love to see a woman in the white house as President, Hillary is not the one. For the first time in my 47 years of voting, I am excited by a candidate. That person is Barack Obama. I will vote for him. I see greatness in the man that has not existed in any presidential candidate in a long, long time. I used to admire Hillary. Now, I am ashamed of her, and Bill. They have brought a new sleeze factor to the whole process.
It's sad thst msny put substance over issues such as a man's color or Hillary's sex. This is so archaic, and it makes me ashamed. When I read the hate posts like "I won't vote for a BLACK" or the nonsense reactions for Hillary being considered a goddess because she a va**** - I am sickened! This issue is about equality and people being treated differently because of the the color of their skin! This bias exsits and your racist comments and "stupid" Hillary gender issues are insulting! I am a woman, and a PROUD American and I believe in EQUAL protection under the law - I could care less about HILLARY! I Give a Damn about this country and I will VOTE for Barack Obama! I would rather have a "black" man than a lying, unethical woman for president!
"I despair of human nature sometimes" I don't know the author of those great words, but I despair. I really do. Some of these responses are.... sigh. Barack is half white, had a loving White mother and Grandfather. Has a loving White grandmother and sister who's white/Indonsian. Do you believe he would befriend a man who hated white people?! We all heard a few seconds of 20 years of sermons people! Use your brains instead of allowing the media to manipulate you. The church has White members.

For those of you that think Obama heard comments like the media has been showing of Wright's everytime he was at Church you are ignorant. Get the info and learn. Wright was not the only Pastor at Obama's Church. If you take the number of Sunday Obama aatteneded and the Number of times Pastor Wright spoke on those days Obama actually only saw this man on the Pulpit less than 50 times in 20 years!
Get a clue. Obama was at Church to share in his community and share the love of Jesus Christ. Pastor Wright does not represent what Obama's Church stands represents.
Obama didn't throw his grandmother under the bus. His point was well made some one that has raised you and guided you to become the person that you are may have views or voice opinions you don't agree with but you don't get rid of them. you stay and try to change them.

BTW Obama's speech was about unifying and coming together for the better of our human race. Those of you preaching hate completely missed the point!
How sad that so many people still don't get that racism hurts us all...black, white, Latino, Asian, and that people are so afraid of change. The man gave the most honest and brilliant speech on racism and sexism and all the scarey "isms" since M.L.K. As a 65 year old white feminist, I am NOT afraid of hearing the truth, no matter whom I ultimately vote for. Look deep inside YOURSELVES, folks...you are part of the PROBLEM, not the solution, unless you can hear what this man is saying to ALL of us.This country is back to the 50's when it comes to racial issues and we have to fight with every ounce of our being to give our children and grandchildren a different and better world. It is not about Hillary versus Barack.. it is about our very essence as Americans and humans.
Ellen, I can't understand why you won't stand up for women everywhere like you do for LGBT community. The interview with Chris Matthews was a train wreck. He barreled over you and confirmed his misogynistic attitude and unparalled media bias. Stand up and be counted. Go Hillary!
I'm surprised by the vitriolic posts here. Ellen usually inspires pleasant homey conversation.
Obama is worth listening to. His speeches are not just pretty words, they give inspired direction toward what we can and should be as a society.
You want to judge him by who he listens to? Then please also judge Sen. Clinton and Sen. McCain on who they listen to. I don't think you should assume that any of them have insufficient judgment to discern the good from the bad said by their friends.

With flags "waving" in the background, Obama's speech was delivered with eloguence...but what is behind the words? If you regularly attend a church whose passion and views are so adversely opposite to yours, how can you continue to participate and financially support what you do not believe in. As we have learned in the past, words and deeds are as far apart as the left and right of this nation. America is beautiful and our freedoms, once fought for so fervently, are slowly being taken away for the sake of socialistic equalities. What makes this nation so great is our freedoms to work, grow and advance ourselves in ways not available to anyone, anywhere else. God Bless America! and Obama and Rev. Wright...if we are so bad, maybe you should go back to your roots.

Catholics CHOOSE to go to a church that condoned and supported pedophiles by moving them when there was a complaint and hiding them in other parishes. I used the past tense, but the Catholic church is still doing that. I also know many Catholics who use birth control and still go to mass every Sunday and enroll their kids in Sunday School. Those were only two examples of one denomination and thinking that is not supported by all who attend that denomination's services.
@Robin: Why are you disappointed that Ellen had Chris Matthews on her show? We do live in the United States of America, right. You have as much a right to express your disappointment as I have for questioning it. This is what happens in a free society. It seems to me that as a Hillary supporter, you have bought into the rhetoric of the right quite a bit!
@All Others: The cynical take is that all politicians lie. Does that mean that Obama is a liar? Possibly. It follows that Hillary Clinton is a liar, as is John McCain. If we're comparing, let's compare all the misstatements and outright lies that all three have spoken and written and then vote for the one who has the least offenses. Again, if we're comparing, let's compare all three's religious affiliations over the past 40+ years and see who has the least offensive affiliations. Let's compare campaign donors, and lobbyists, etc. Is it that simple? I think not.

This man MUST be held to higher standards he is running for President of the United States of America the greatest Country in the World. I would like to hear the speech in its intirety.
He gives really good speeches. I love to hear him talk. I just heard bits and pieces.. but it was good speech of what I heard.
A lot of people have sexist problems as well as racial.
